Personality: An overall nice guy, Nolan tends to be perceptive, gentle, and idealistic. He is certainly compassionate, sympathetic, and impressionable, willing to go the extra mile to help someone in need. And he enjoys doing things in an orderly and methodical manner. The problem is that he can be impractical for no reason at all, hyper-sensitive, and just plain gullible. And Nolan is quite an escape artist - great at getting out of sticky situations, and half the time he's daydreaming and avoiding people.
Physical Description: Nothing too special, Nolan looks like your regular teenage kid. His medium length black hair can get out of control sometimes, especially with bedhead, and he has blue eyes behind his glasses. Active, healthy, but by no means some athlete. He's at that common awkward phase when adolescents go through a growth spurt. He's getting kind of gangly and thin with his long lanky limbs. Average really is the best word.
What he wears is a black undershirt, a gray and red vest, and gray jeans with brown sneakers. Over that he wears a long black duster with cuffs, red fingerless gloves, and a crimson bandanna. He carries most of his possessions in a hunter-green messenger bag, as well as a small brown leather satchel around his waist, and he keeps his Pokédex on a lanyard around his neck so he won't lose it.

• Nolan was born in Lavender Town, since both his parents are passionate about helping abused and orphaned pokemon. Expanding on Mr. Fuji's work, they've opened their own Volunteer House and sometimes assist by tending to the outside of the House of Memories. The Grey family make a comfortable income by rehabilitating abandoned pokemon and charging a modest fee for trainers who want to adopt them. Nolan has one older sister, Riley, who is nineteen and obsessed with Ghost pokemon. And one younger brother, Hayden, who is ten.
• Because Lavender Town is also infamous for its Ghost pokemon, it isn't too strange that Nolan is extra careful not to be caught outside after dark. He doesn't exactly fear Ghost types, but he's been taught to avoid them for his own safety.
• Nolan's favorite pokemon is Magikarp and its evolution, because he's envious how such a seemingly worthless fish can turn into the mighty Gyarados. Many of the trainers that left pokemon with his parents had found beaten and bruised Magikarp along Route 12 in Kanto. With so many of the fish pokemon coming in, Nolan has become sort of an expert on them. As a good-luck gift, Nolan was given the Repeat Ball of his favorite pokemon. Nolan's childhood friend, Dosu the Magikarp has been with the Grey family for years after a tragic accident with a wild Pidgeot and an Angler fighting over Dosu on the line. Dosu as a Gyarados has retrained his large scar. It runs down from the right corner of his bottom lip to his right barbel.
