Event is TODAY! I called around and found a Game Stop near me, so I will be going 3nodding
Its only several hundred stores around the country, so its likely only 1 in your district. The Game Stop website has a listing of stores if you look in their "event" section. http://www.gamestop.com/gs/gamestopevents

It says on the site its 1-4pm, but I called the store near us and yesterday they said 5-9pm. I called again today and they said "like 6 or so." They don't seem very organized about it, but they did say they had cards at least. None of the other stores I called seemed to know about it. I have a feeling not many people will show up if they're being so vague.

The site also says "receive a GameStop Exclusive Kid Icarus AR card (while supplies last)" so to me that implies they only have 1 card to give away, not the assortment nor booster packs. I guess I'll see.

My Game Stop was utter fail.
I got there about 5:30pm. There was a big lovely poster on their door with brief info on the event so I thought that was promising. A guy came up to me and asked if I needed any help.
Me: I'm here for the Kid Icarus event.
Him: Kid Icarus event?
Me: Ya know, that thing you have a big poster on your door for.
Him: *Goes to look* Well you're late, aren't you?
Me: I called earlier, and they told me 6ish
Him: Well, let me find out.
Me: Ok.
Him: *confers with other employees* We have the cards, they're locked up in back.
Me: Ok take your time, I was going to look anyway.
Him: *comes back after a bit* Um, can you come back next week? We don't have access to the cards. Like Mon or Tues?
Me: Um, ok. *thinking to self WTF* *leaves*


So, I guess I was the only person in the region who cared. And its a good thing nobody else came, because they couldn't even get to the cards! Wow.

They were kind of busy, but there were like 4 employees there. My friend said later they lied to me, that he worked there and they were always supposed to have a keyholding manager on duty. I have a hard time being a jerk, but if I got back next week and there's problems, I will be.

So, I went back to Game Stop on Mon, and they remembered me and went into the back and... they had one pack on hold for some dude who called, and did not have one for me because they "didn't know I was coming in." Um, you told me to. So yeah, they couldn't give me the on hold one, and the rest were still locked up, so they told me to "come back tomorrow." I told them I probably couldn't come back until Wed, since I was getting sick of driving out of my way and it was at least more on my way then.

Finally Wed I went in and got them. I was actually kind of peeved I couldn't pick up any for my friend who didn't want to make the drive. Its a 5-pack with specific cards- Eggplant Wizard, Fiend's Cauldron, Minos, Skyscraper Club, and Fireworks Cannon.

For anyone who missed or couldn't make it, I took a picture of my cards. If you have trouble with it scanning them, let me know and I'll make actual scans. Hopefully this is good enough. I imagine they're around on the internet by now anyway.

Also, I noticed on their poster they had another "event" scheduled for May 12 (I think, I may be wrong on the date.)

I'm sorry to hear about your experience with the event :c I'd be pretty annoyed too!
I wish there was some events announced it the UK though D:
