So here's a question: has anybody put together a group to head to an anime convention out of state? If so, how did it go? Was there some sort of system to take care of expenses and lodging?

Well personally for me and my group of friends we've never gone out of state, we're still young and we need a parent with us since we're under the age of eighteen. But along with me, there are two other girls who work out the expenses. We all usually look at hotel rooms and compare it to where we stay at for the convention or event being held. Then we add in tickets, gas, and food and we usually divide the cost between everybody who's going, even the adult who is going with us. We usually start a few months ahead of time so we get good deals and it gives us time to save up and plan costumes and such. Usually one girl takes care of the room once we get it down to about three places, one takes care of the tickets, and the other one does the rest. Like food, gas, and making lists for the others so we don't forget anything. It's a good system and it saves a lot of time and headache.

We just drive to the hotel. It's a lot of fun. I just wish the regular hotel rooms at cons had mini kitchens. This one I stayed at near it did and it was REALLY nice, but we didn't get to chill there as it was away from the con, we just slept there. Annoying.

I never had a large group. but we always split for a room. the most I ever had was five in a room. But I never went out of state for a con. And one of us usually drives. I have taken a cab once and done mass transit a few times. Cabs are expensive, though.
