Chapter One- A Bright and Shining Future
As a last effort to assist our heroes, the Elders told them all they knew about the land upon which they would find themselves. It was here that far beneath the earth would be Sovelii, and on top sits a new civilization.
The Kingdom of Raee.
The Kingdom of Raee is currently presided over by a chosen disciple of Our Lord the Worm God. Also known as A Hand of the Dragon, someone who has achieved everlasting devotion to the great Vile God. The Hand's word is law in entirety. Nobody dares question it, unless they wish for death as just below the hand are the Talons of the Dragon. The Talons are military officers and masters of combat. Armed with weaponry that are relics of the dead age, as well as magically endowed weapons of the present they are single man armies raised from birth to obey, and to kill. Raee has Ten Talons, and under each Talon, are a score or two of lower ranking soldiers. All of whom are highly trained in the art of combat.
Every day for two hours the citizens of Raee must attend the Grand Ceremony at the Red Cathedral. This is a sign of complete religious devotion to the Worm God. The Face of the Worm is the highest priest of any area of the Worm God's domain. He wears an ever shifting obsidian mask that wears the grin of Our Lord. Beneath him are the Crimson Tears, holy men with no genitals and mouths shown shut. They are easily spotted for their long flowing red robes. Each is assigned to different sections of Raee with the job of spreading the Lord's word. Preforming public human sacrifice in his name, and committing countless other holy acts.
Now, the citizens of the Kingdom will come as a shock for our Heroes. The Elders did their best to show them what they will encounter, but the world has changed so much that it will take a lot of getting used to. There are sentient beings that can fit in the palm of your hand, others larger than cars. They come in all shapes and sizes and all attitudes. To make a list of all the different kinds would be an eternal task. Just imagine something and it probably exists in Raee.
Most of the Kingdom looks to be straight out of the dark ages. Stone and mortar buildings, gravel walkways, sprawling marketplaces, only with a major difference of seemingly randomly placed machinery that bletch out huge breaths of black smoke. Most transportation is either walking, or riding another creature, but some of the richer folk do have vehicles that either go on wheels or fly.
A defining characteristic of Raee is that it is a place that doesn't quite stand in the world. Things got a little strange at the end, and some things science just hadn't gotten around to explaining yet slowly just became accepted oddities. In Raee's case, it is almost entirely encased in a shimmering wall that devours anyone who gets too close. Though beautiful this unnatural occurrence makes it impossible for the people of Raee to leave, unless they are lucky enough to own a flying machine.
With that the Elders began fading. They spoke softly as they went, ensuring our heroes that though the task seemed to be impossible, they still had a chance, they would suffer every step of the way, but after it was all over the cosmos itself would bow in gratitude. As a final thank you the Elders left the last of their energy in weapons hidden throughout Raee, each one of our heroes would feel the pull of an orb designated for them, and that orb would change to what weapon best suited them, and would grow in power as they did. This is how our tale begins, our heroes awaken, they plan, and they begin this epic quest.

Sascha's suffering began as soon as she stepped out of her stasis chamber, for the moment that he did so he realized everything had changed. Her husband and child were gone forever, never to be seen again. This was an alien world that he had been drawn into, and unfairly so. She couldn't even properly express her rage and vent her frustrations at these Elders who had falsely sold her on this holy mission. It wasn't even falsehood, actually, for they'd never said he would see his family again, only that everything would be alright.
From where she was standing, nothing seemed alright. The wisdom bestowed by the elders hardly even registered. He pounded on every wall until he happened across the doorway that led out, then she ran around in the dark for a time, stumbling toward the first source of light she saw. This led him through a tunnel that deposited him just a short distance from the ground. This seemed a route not often trod, for the entrance seemed unexplored. It might have actually been part of a larger tunnel at one time that had simply been cut off as it opened abruptly to a sheer drop.
All around he could hear screeching and scraping, chatter of inhuman voices and the sounds of many footsteps, some thunderously loud. The Elders had not exaggerated.
Having reached the end of the tunnel and with no desire to venture out into this horrible and strange world, Sascha collapsed where he stood and leaned against the wall. She buried her head in her hands and wept for the beautiful life lost and the horrible world gained. He wished he'd died with them rather than having to face this world alone.

(Did my best to keep it short. Sorry if it sucks, i am a bit rusty haha)
“Do you even have a heart?!”
Her pale heart shaped face was stained with wet mascara from her streaming tears. Her entire body was shaking and covered in goosebumps, Eld felt a pit growing in his stomach but he couldn’t look away. Even as she cries, she is so beautiful, he thought. Speechless he just looked into her shining blue eyes, her face all scrunched with pain and anger. The slap she laid across his face he barely felt, there was a violent motion and a crack sound. Even before he could correct his vision she was walking away, her hips swaying involuntarily.
“Wait,” he said, but not loud enough for her to hear. She went on and the world around him came rushing back in. Traffic sounds and flashing lights. Steady pulsating beats bled from the nightclub across the street, The Throbbing Sliver. Eld hung his head hoping the fuzzy confusion would seep out through his eyes and make a puddle on the sidewalk where he could leave it and forget about it. The nasty taste in his mouth was absurdly bitter and he suddenly grew an overwhelming sensation to spit. Shaking his head only made him dizzier. He was a little too drunk to remember why she was mad at him, he didn’t recall doing anything to her so it must have been something he said. Knowing that he loved her even he found it hard to believe that anything would have torn them apart, yet there she went. Now, in all the years in the history of the world, now was not the time to be alone. Each day it seemed another city was wiped off the face of the earth and Sovelii would get it’s turn eventually. Eld didn’t want to be alone, he wanted his darling love. Now she was gone and he was loosing track of how long he had been standing there in a drunken daze. Nobody should have to face the end of the world alone, especially not someone who invested so much time in a person. He loved her so much. That was the last time he saw her.
He stumbled through the light filtered green through dirty streetlamps. This was hardly the most reputable part of town, but Eld couldn’t find himself worrying about his safety. That was usually the last thing on his mind anyway. He started throwing one foot out in front of the other until he fell into a run and his brain began to clear. It was drunken meditative dashes like this that assured either entire illumination or death. And at this point, as it usually came to be, Eld didn’t care if he died. He didn’t even pay attention to where he was going, his body was on autopilot as he was suddenly rising higher and higher above the sidewalk, years of training meant the man could scale buildings with ease given there were things to grab onto. He knew he was going to be sore as all hell in the morning the way he was throwing his unresponsive body into the proper movements. Down below he heard some shouting. His friends telling him to stop, as they usually did. He pretended not to hear and was suddenly leaping from rooftop to rooftop, tucking his head in and rolling. One false step would be death, this cleared his head a little, but didn’t help his drunk flesh. Things became a blur again the suddenly he was falling with a shower of broken glass. A goddamn skylight. With his luck it wasn’t a very long drop, but the air was knocked out of him with the impact of the hard wooden floor. He heard himself gasp an sputter for air, but this was automatic. His brain was elsewhere, it was on her. At least until the residents of the building he had crashed through started opening doors and screaming about cops and the like. He blinked and suddenly he was in the alleyway with sirens behind him in the distance. He had to stop as his body decided it was time he examined the contents of his stomach and he painted the brick wall of a building with a spew of vomit. This of course was followed by dry heaving that seemed to trail on to eternity and he shook his still fuzzy head. After that wore off he could feel the cold sweat coursing down his body and couldn’t help but think that another drink would take the edge off. He blinked again and found himself in a bar.
“Hey man, give me a drink, I don’t care what. Something strong.”
The bartender didn’t pay attention to him, and Eld found himself waving his hands at the man, who’s blank stare was staring off to the side. Eld almost shouted when he realized everyone was looking in the same direction, to a small screen. DEATH APPROACHES! FLEE CITIZENS, SOVELII WILL BURN!.
The headlines came off as the ranting of a doomsayer promising the apocalypse in the streets. Only this was the news, and the images were of other cities becoming craters. Places that Eld had been during free running competitions. He frowned with the sudden realization that the sirens that were in the distance were not cop sirens, they were air raid sirens. He suddenly felt himself running again. He had to save her, he was so stupid for getting so drunk, now it could ruin everything. His legs were screaming in protest at the prolonged exertion and improper form, but he ignored it. He needed to see her again. He had to at least hold her as death rained from the sky. Only, he never made it.
He blacked out again along the way and awoke in the land of Raee. The psychic messages of the elders feeding his brain to the point of almost breaking then he was stumbling in the dark. He still felt mildly drunk, despite the countless years that had passed. His mind tried to sort everything out as he stumbled into the bright light of the outside world and he felt his mouth fall open. It was one thing for someone to tell you something, it was another thing to see it with your own eyes. He quickly considered just killing himself and getting all this s**t over with. Assassinate the Worm God? Those old men had a sick idea of a joke if they expected a freerunner and who knows else to go after the vile black wizard that crept around in the background of every horror story children told each other on cold dark nights. Now to see the creatures going about their business before them, and alien landscape, even the sky seemed a hue of blue that he had never seen before.
He glanced around after hearing the sound of weeping and spotted another human. Whoever it was, was as bald as he was and he had to chuckle at the absurdity.
“Of all the infinite masses in Sovelii did the elders pick people based on their hairstyle?” He muttered, feeling a smile stretch across his face that was tinged with a little bit too much lunacy for him to feel comfortable with.

"What was that about a Worm God? Absurd!" This is what he shouted out into the darkness of his own mind. But the reality came crashing down on his soul as he opened his eyes and beheld the horrid truth that the Elders spoke of. A part of him wished that it was all some cruel joke, but the other half of him was actually thrilled at the prospect of an adventure. Truth be told. He had always considered his life very dull and without true meaning. Perhaps he had asked for this in some way. But how all this came about was unknown to him. The last thing he could remember was awakening to the deafening sound of sirens. After that, nothing. Jaidev shook his head. His thoughts were racing. He could not focus.
The realization that he would never again be able to speak with friends who he had grown up with was maddening. "DAMN IT!" he cried in rage, the conflicting emotions were too much for him to bear at the moment. Regaining his cool, he was suddenly aware that he was not alone.
