✺Forgotten Son (Housekeeping: Please do not mistake my character's actions for unruliness. I am well aware there is a warning/caution against ruckus in this thread, however I have already set out a brief disruption with Yami. It is planned for a bar; we have a tavern here. The act is said not to be tolerated; her character has been scripted to handle it as an authority figure. Please forgive me if I'm being a bore, but I sincerely wish not to "rock the boat" or disturb or perturb the administration of this guild--one guild owner to another. If this post offends anyone, I deeply apologize. Thank you.)
Thanks to the efforts of people like him and Youkimi the land once known as Ethe was regaining shape--physically and culturally. They worked well together, those two, and from the cold of winter: planting, sowing; came a spring and early summer: reaping, growing. All that hard work had turned good ol' Dixon into a bit of a drinker; not too bad at first, maybe a hi-ball of some nice whiskey, something amber, so thick it pulled the sun down and defused it, softened it, until it was a citrus-y yolk. Legs draped over one another.
Pants mirroring the motion as, in late April/early May, he found that by some alchemy the spirit of the old gods had permeated his bottle as well. So the chase was on...
Pants draped carelessly over the necks of sleeping 20-somethings. Their faces held a red too. They looked so wonderful in the morning. It was at this point the count had another epiphany: why should I wake up early, back sore, eyes tired and lethargic with dust from the day/night before when I could bring the blooming sun into my room and... And there was dew!
"She's too good for you," said the bartender flatly. He'd been watching this spiral--though it really didn't have that much effect on his effectiveness where it counted--where it counted!--"Oughta left you on the curb that night..."
"You don't know what you're talking about, Mr. Drink-my-profits-away!" This was the back-and-forth they had.
"I get it," said another suddenly cutting in, "you must be drinking for your country too!" Dixon was watching his drink for the first half of that one. Looked at the way the cigarette cherry made itself into a live rendition of "The Slave Ship." His eyes and fingers tightened imperceptibly. Laughter. Glass. Explosion in three tones feat. blurs and slurred shouting.
════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ It wasn't long before the authorities came. There was such a clamour--and this wasn't a dive--that nearly everyone had ran out within the first seconds of the brawl. Needless to say Dixon was coming out on top. A group of five came running down the street, shouting the news.

Baroness Youkimi Kai Living today without a way To understand the weight of the world
Initially, she had come this way while expecting to meet someone. Initially, she had been under the assumption that things would be in well enough order. Yet, she found herself proven wrong and to her dismay that it was someone she knew who was heavily embroiled within the chaos that spilled out into the street. The authorities did what they could, rushing to the scene when they could, an unfortunately on this particular day, Youkimi did not have the strength to intervene.
So much time and energy had been spent in giving the remaining people of Ethe a means to live and a hope. So much energy, time, resources, and emotion went into the work. She found that when she slept, she struggled to deeply rest. After so many days, she found herself crashing and falling asleep at the strangest times. While mostly fortunate that she could make it to her own abode before this happened, there were a few occasions when she seemed to faint.
She was more aware of the warning signs and looked to prevent them happening again. But here.... perhaps she should have known. Dixon had different methods of coping than her own. She could not always look after him, nor could she contain him. He was himself. In many ways, he was more free. Would things have been different if Ethe had not been swallowed by the volcano?
Youkimi would never know. In the street, she folded her arms within her sleeves. Her powers, if used, would effect all of them. But to use them would sacrifice a good portion of what energy she had remaining for the day. Nevertheless, and as always, she found herself worrying for the warring count. He who would fight with all his heart. He who would sacrifice so much. As much as she wanted to remain distant and detached, it was hard to remain objective when your friend was in a situation that could get him badly hurt. Especially so if that friend was among the last of those you knew before your life drastically changed.
She would watch the fight until her thoughts were interrupted. ...She came this way to meet with others.... but...

Company:: Athena, brawlers and onlookers Clothing:: DisguiseFeeling:: Ready for a fight Condition:: Healthy Location:: Outside The Silver Sawn Currency:: 859¢ EC Items:: DyrnwynOOC:: I hope we're not rudely cutting in ; ) Prince Roland Leoharz Bellris Athena and Roland had arrived in Lionis in their disguise of peasantry and walked with their horses to tie them up at a suitable stable close to upscale tavern called The Silver Swan. While Roland didn't take much time in thinking out what outfit to wear he felt that something that wasn't too flashy would be perfect. So, he picked an outfit made from a seamstress that immigrated to Bellris from Ethe and so the clothing was said to be inspired by their culture. In truth he was not that knowledgeable of Ethe or its way of life before the eruption of Mt.Adara but still he chose the outfit for this venture. Now that they tied up the horses a brawl spills out onto the streets and causes the whole tavern to empty while onlookers cry out with bloodthirsty cheers. All the patrons look red at the checks already filled with fine spirits but Roland paid no mind and walked on with Athena. Just before heading into the building a stray punch hits Roland square in the jaw which gets an immediate reaction out of him. Pow! The crimson eyed phoenix delivers an uppercut for his assailants throat, bringing the stranger to his knees as he struggles for air. This caught the attention of the gang of men who were already busy trying to handle someone (Dixon) which then brought attention from two fighters to Roland. "Athena, get inside and keep yourself safe. I'll be in shortly." Roland was rather cocky about his skills which ticked off the men a little more, especially since he looked somewhat small compared to them, but Roland held his ground with fist up in defence and eyes set like an animal ready for an assault.

She had of course chosen an outfit that would hopefully keep her identity a secret, but her features weren't completely hidden away. She was enjoying the time walking towards the tavern with her beloved prince, right up until a brawl spilt onto the road and Roland decided to join in from one accidental hit to the jaw. Of course that was something she wasn't about to let him do without a fight of their own as she took hold of his ear and pulled it a bit. "First off I told you to call me Beth while out in the capital. Secondly we didn't come here to prove your worth to others. I don't want you fighting." She whispered with a slight growl in her tone, not caring if he got upset with her for stepping in and not just hiding away like a princess should.

✺Forgotten Son (You guys are fine in my book. c smile
Dixon was wailing on those who came at him with a surprising amount of vigor from a guy who probably should have taken a nap a while ago...
It was better to stay out of his way; rage gave way to rage as aftershocks reached the face of a man called Roland--who was yet to be identified--and washed him back into the gyre of ire. Luckily, though, he was pulled back by what seemed to be a guardian angel. Dixon had his too, but somehow it did look like she would reach him.
Washed up on the pavement, the count kicked and curled like the sea to a scornful sky to try and get back up. After all, he did have a fight to finish. A minor fire was being put out as the slurring noble was being pulled up just as his eyes were throttling toward the beck of his head. They were taking him away; men in suits of armor with seemingly nothing but duty in their eyes hoisting him by the arms, elbowing him to bat down his indignant flames (literal or figurative).
"Alright, move, let's go!" Said the knights as they brought the drunken count through. He looked barely conscious, but seemed to perk up, digging his heels in as he spotted what looked like Ethe clothes. He reached for the newcomers.
"Good Ethians! The time has come for us to stand," he said wobbling against the strength of the guards. "We must fight for ancestors--and free drinks!"
"Alright, thirst," said one the head guard shoving, "let's go. Come on." It looked like the end of the line for the count. Was there any saving it?

Baroness Youkimi Kai Living today without a way To understand the weight of the world
Then there was another warrior. The man held an energy about him that was youthful and hopeful, excited to be of help, but not afraid of the skirmish. Attending him was another, a friend, and in the two Youkimi saw something that was familiar to her. It seemed so long ago.... But had it truly been?
She bit her lip and her concerns ebbed away. There were many things to fret over. So many things yet to take care of. So many things to do. She stepped forward, barely feeling her feet on the cold ground as she crossed the distance. The guards had begun to pacify the crowd and the drunken fight had come to a stop. Some seemed willing still to continue fighting.
Ethian, yes... she was. But this was not the time to fight for their ancestors. Nor did she feel that this was the occasion to fight for free drinks. If there was hard work done to provide drink, then the work deserved to be paid for. Would she condone the slavery of her own people? The wheat that was distilled into beer? The sugar to rum? Would she ignore the work of her people?
She stepped up to the guard. "Pardon sir... I may take him off your hands."
The guard paused and turned to look at her. "Look, miss, this man was heavily involved in a riot. I need to lock him up with the others."
She suspected and knew the law of the land. While she might have spoken in warning, she had to accept that she could not control him. Were she to tighten her hold on him, or to try and restrain him, she worried that she would in turn lose him. She couldn't work through her feelings now. She couldn't discern for certain whether or not her feelings in this matter were sensible. Nor could she justly speak up now.
Yet, she did not restrain her voice. "He is my responsibility. I will bear the weight of it."
The guard's expression did not seem likely to change. Yet, as the woman bowed to the guard, his face and posture began somewhat to change. She was solemn. Worn.
"Milady...." The guard seemed caught. The man at his side lifted his voice, questioning the decision. But then the head guard gave a nod. "He owes for the damage done to the tavern and stands accountable for those he's injured this day."
Youkimi held the bow until Dixon was released. Then she lifted herself up, but she could not look the guard in the eye. "I understand."
Then the guard turned to the others. The brawlers were dealt with. Some were taken to jail, others were released with warning, and yet others were reminded of their duty to repair the damage. The guards began to leave. There was still chatter in the streets. There was still talk. But things were calmer.
She turned to the other two, the young man who had joined battle, and the maiden who had sought to restrain her friend. Youkimi bowed lowly to both of them.
"I beg your pardon..." She spoke up, maintaining proper elocution and diction that betrayed nobility. She lifted herself and then turned her eyes to Dixon. What did he think of this situation? Did he still wish to fight? If so, then she would be the one to fight him. He had the energy. He had done so much. What could be done to help him now?
"Dixon."

Company:: Beth, Lady Kai and The Brawler Clothing:: DisguiseFeeling:: Calm but uncertain Condition:: Healthy Location:: Outside The Silver Sawn Currency:: 859¢ EC Items:: DyrnwynOOC:: Prince Roland Leoharz Bellris And then the fearsome wolf was now the scolded puppy. Tugged by the ear and giving a groan from the pull, Roland tries to argue back to his better half but wasn't all that well with it like a child making excuses to do something rather than providing a proper reason. "But I got hit in the face! And that hurts...Also, what if they had hit you because of their idiocy? I wouldn't want any harm coming to you, my love." His eyes turn tender and his gaze fixed on her emerald irises and like the beast soothed by music he forgets about his want for battle. So what if he didn't want to fight, the same couldn't be said about the other men. After all, Roland just gave one of their men a punch to the throat. "You wanna play the hero, little man?" "No, I think he's got it covered." Roland points to the menses first target (Dixon) and seeing him actually beating their other men to pulp they scuffed at Roland to turn and leave him alone. They had their hands full already and didn't have time to deal Roland. Yet, there came in danger of a different sort. Not to Roland, nor his beloved woman, but to the drunkard whose reaching hand had begged for help from a stranger. Did he know this woman to who he called out to? Was he also calling out to him when he said Ethians? Roland wanted to help and stand for the man's defense for holding his own against multiple aggressors but someone beat him to the punch. A woman he knew of and knew of well. The prince made it a point to take a look into notable personnel immigrating into the republic since some few months age and it just so happened that the knight he sent to spy on a certain Ethian came back with quite an interesting story. It was of a noblewoman recluse and burdened with ties to the many people from Ethian. This certain Ethian woman was exactly the one he invited to a meeting via a letter but he was surprised she actually came and allow him the opportunity to speak to her. "That's rather impressive of you Lady Kai." Roland speaks out in his humble clothes. "I didn't expect to have our meeting begin like this but it's certainly an interesting way to begin." Taking a bow to greet the lady he would explain things rather vaguely then while fixing his posture again and waiting to hear what the lady would have to say. "I am the one who sent you the signed letter, and to my side is my friend Beth. I don't mean to sound rush but do you think we should take this meeting elsewhere? I'm sure you friend over there could use a change of scene." He points to the brawler whom the Lady Kai just saved with her words.

"I said no." She whispered leaving the point at that before gasping softly and staring wide eyed at the man who had reached for them and said it was time to stand, wondering what on earth he could have meant. Just as Roland was about to speak up, so was she, only to be beaten by a noble woman before hand and witness the events unfold before her very eyes. Of course when that same woman turned towards them and bowed to them, she couldn't help giving a quick little curtsy, remaining silent as Roland spoke to her. Kai? She had heard that name at least once before now, she was certain of it. Yet she couldn't for the life of her think of how or where. They were here to meet this woman? Why? At least she would get those answers once the meeting actually began, though she wasn't so sure if her presence would be a good thing or not. "Pleasure to meet you milady." She murmured while giving another curtsy to the woman, this time making sure it was a proper low one that a noble deserved, clearly trying no to give herself away.

✺Forgotten Son (short one for you c: Ready to move--giving up the lead for a while) The count didn't respond to Youkimi, keeping his eyes down at an angle. He forgot how to think for a moment, let alone hear.
The rest of them would start to talk; the shattered man was there in Youkimi's hands now, and would go with the group wherever they went. He remembered he felt this low only when he was talked down to by the other nobles. When he first started he was seen as a bus boy, not a man to be respected. Certainly not a count!
... She was still looking at him. He could feel it. The pain of her disappointment made him clench his fist at his side.
"I don't wanna talk about it..."

Baroness Youkimi Kai Living today without a way To understand the weight of the world
Normally Dixon was very upfront with his feelings and emotions. Normally he answered her and spoke his mind freely. Yet here, he did not speak beyond simply telling her that he didn't want to talk about it. The bruised man did not look her in the eye. Perhaps now, more than before, she could see the state he was in.
Youkimi had so many questions and yet at hearing what he had to say, she found that her tongue was temporarily silenced. He didn't wish to talk about it. .... As it was, they were still in public. There was also the reality that they were not alone. They would have to talk but this was not the time.
She affirmed this with a nod and turned her attention to the other man. She had come this way by invitation, yes, though she had not met the stranger herself. In her own country, she might have come with an escort to assist in her protection. Yet, outside of Ethe, the enforced sanctuary of the Silver Swan provided the best means of meeting a stranger, as it was frequented by those who knew her and Dixon. It had also proven to be consistent in the attention and care it gave its customers.
Her attention, now, was on the one who had signed the letter requesting this audience. He was dressed well, in cloth money could buy, and there was a similarity in the style to her home country. A style of clothing by preference, perhaps? His face was not one she had seen in Ethe... Nor in Bellris, where she resided.
Her attention was directed to his friend, who he addressed as Beth. She was also a stranger to the baroness. Delicate individual... pale complexion, but her posture betrayed learned nobility. Interesting that she was only referred to by name, and so familiarly by the gentleman who led the conversation. They didn't appear to have similarities enough to be siblings. Very close friends, perhaps? Well-versed individuals? Curious and puzzling...
"The pleasure is mine." She assured them. Her tone and volume had shifted again to conversational, though there was a hint of curiosity in her tone that suggested she had questions. However, there was logic in the suggestion put forth by the young man. Perhaps elsewhere. "Yes, sitting down would do us good."
She inclined her head to the two. They seemed to know of her, and the manner of their address suggested that she was a higher rank... Yet, anyone was free to speak as they wished. She could be surprised.
"If you would be so kind as to lead the way, sir. I'm afraid I don't know this land as well as my own."

Prince Roland Leoharz Bellris His woman of peace did Roland good by saving him from jail. Had Roland jumped into that tavern fray when he would have the guards might have been hulling him away too. He felt indebted to her for scolding him but a kiss right now wasn't possible at this moment. So in his heart he'd remember this and if possible thank her somehow for it later. With Lady Kai's friend not apposing to the idea and Kai herself agreeing, Roland say a quick thank you to her before leading the way away from this place. "I don't really know this land either but anywhere is better than here right now." This was rather amusing and exciting for a meeting to begin this way but now was not the time for games. While there was an unexpected plus one, for both her and her, this meeting was something he felt needed to happen. A better union within Bellris leaders was a critical step to this plan he and his sister had in motion. Exit
