She took in a deep breath and let the scents of the forest fill her lungs. Not quite like the mountains her leopard sister craved. But good enough. The Reaper Mononoke herself enjoyed it out here, though she was always cautious.
Shaden shifted the small bag on her shoulder as she climbed over a fallen log. It was so much different out here then in Poena Privus. More peaceful and...alive. Which was why every so often she sought out the woods and the trees. Feeling a deep desire to have just one day where she was not on a mission. Not a Reaper. Just a Mononoke. A snow leopard. A girl that didn't fight the nightmares of Lilium Hallow.
Her ears perked forward as she looked around. The air was cool with a light breeze, the sun streaking through the leaves comfortable against her skin. This place would do.
She moved towards one of the trees, looking for a branch she could hang her pack from. It contained spare clothes for when she changed back to human. Right now she wore a simple tank top and sweats. Something easy to change out of before shifting. There! Up in the tree there was a branch that would be perfect. She'd be able to climb up after shifting and hang the bag up there.
With a sigh, she crouched down to unzip the bag, tail flicking behind her. Her snow leopard sister was excited to run through these woods! It was just a shame she had no one to share the day with.

In the tree directly across from the one that the snow leopard had chosen, there was another mononoke girl, one who was presently perched atop the thickest branch. And the reason for her being out here and in the tree was...
...
...Well. When it came to Althaia, most of her actions were a mystery. The most likely reason probably had to do with the fact that, put simply, the kirin was bored. She had finished leafing through her new magic tome, her chores had been finished, and there simply wasn't anything to do. Thus, rather than read a book or partake in some other hobby as most people would have done, the kirin decided that she wanted to dedicate today to climbing a tree, and she had never done so before. Until now.
...
Now what.
She leaned forward, resting her elbows on her knees and using her hands to prop up her head as she peered out into the forest. While she adored this place, there was really little to do besides enjoying the environment. It didn't seem like many people ventured out here either, which was a pity. She would have liked to meet new people!
It just so happened that today was her lucky day, then. When she heard what sounded like light footsteps and a zipping noise from below, Althaia peered down, golden eyes widening in excitement at the sight of the figure down below. A person! And another female Mononoke too, from the looks of things! It didn't take Althaia any time at all the decide that she wanted to greet the other girl, and so she slowly made her way down the tree--
...Hm. Hm, getting down the tree appeared to be a much harder task than scaling up it. Knitting her brows together, Althaia slowly made her way down by stepping down onto the branches directly below her and hoping that they'd hold her weight. So far so good, and just one more to go--!
--ah. Althaia seemed perplexed when she suddenly found herself hanging upside down by her legs. Her hands kept her dress down (or rather, up) as she dangled there. her long white hair nearly brushing against the ground. There was a moment of pause, and then she simply shrugged.
...Ah well, this would just have to do, she supposed. Staring at the other girl's back, she cleared her throat.

She hadn't exactly been wearing that much to begin with, sticking to a simple shirt and sweat pants as they were easiest to change from quickly. The movies had it mostly right, from what she'd noticed. Clothes did not mesh well when shifting forms. At least not for her. Hence the spare clothing and the bag to hold said clothes in as well as trail bars and a water bottle.
Needless to say, Shaden had not been expecting anyone to be out here. Thus she'd stripped out of her shirt, having begun to unclasp her bra when something cleared its throat behind her. There was a hiss of surprise that escaped her throat as she ducked and rolled into a crouch, twisting to face the one that dared sneak up on her-
....and then she just blinked, ignoring the fantastic flush to her cheeks at the fact she had been caught so off guard. But the one she stared at washed that feeling away. There was a female. Hanging upside down from that tree. Shaden's ears perked forward, tail swishing behind her as the Reaper just stared at the other, not quite sure what to make of her. A fellow Mononoke for sure, yes. But what kind and what sort of power she had, Shaden wasn't sure.
"....umm, what are you...doing?" She finally asked, slowly creeping forward while still crouched. Her eyes flickered along the other Mononoke, head tilting slightly. "Do you need help?"
Shaden inched forward a little more until she was almost back to where she'd first started. This was an interesting turn of events! Hadn't she been complaining about how lonely it was out here? Well, looked like she'd gotten her wish and wasn't so alone after all. Still... "What sort of creature are you?" She asked with that feline curiosity. "You have an earthen scent to you."
