The first thing that comes to your mind when you step into the Mage's room is 'Medieval castle room'. His room is fairly big. The walls and floor are stone. The ceiling is a dark polished wood. There are torches on the wall lit with a purple magical fire. There are a few hanging braziers hung from the ceiling lit with the same purple magical flame. His room is a backwards L shape. The reason why is because this Mage has his own personal library! The room to the left and the area where you enter holds the library and his study.
Rows of bookshelves line the walls and rows of the library section and are stuffed with books, which are all organized. Mathis' study sets to the lower right of his room. His study has his writing desk. His desk is not alone as there are more bookshelves that are stuffed with books. There are piles of books on his writing desk and next to his desk. There are a few colorful hand made rugs that run along the rows of bookshelves in his personal library and study. Mathis will sit for hours and write on his studies, and has even written some books. There is a small dog bed next to his desk where his companion naps. The heartless dog can get a little noisy, but Mathis has learned to tune his companion out when he's working on his studies. Mathis will give his little dog some treats to chew on and keep him quiet while Mathis reads and writes.
The last nook in his room is his living space. The Mage has his own cooking area with a table to sit at when he eats his meals, and his sleeping area. The cooking area holds a fireplace with the same magical smokeless fire in it. His cooking tools are located next to the fire place when he's ready to prepare a meal. There's a small table that sits one about a few feet away from the cooking fire. Mathis is used to eating his meals by himself, but sometimes he gets a guest. He won't refuse them a meal. His bed is on the right side of the nook. He uses a stepping stool to climb up into bed. His bed stand high off the ground, one of those tall beds. He has the privacy curtains hung around his bed and ties them back in the mornings on the bed posts. A carved wooden chest rests at the foot of the bed and this is where he stores his things. He keeps it locked with his magic. Only his magic can unlock it.
