Noir landed a fair distance away from the human camp. It was unlikely that the humans had chased Summanus this distance; by her judgement, they wouldn't have the stamina. So, logically, her partner in crime should be wandering around here, at about this distance, waiting for her to appear. Perhaps even questioning whether she would or not. The 'Daeva sat there impatiently for a few moments, wondering where Summanus could possibly. She placed the bag of rubies down gently on the floor and paced around her area, sniffing the air for his scent. It was faint, and clearly coming from the direction of the tent. Perhaps she had simply overshot him while flying. Picking the bag back up, Noir walked back in the direction she had come from, weaving through the trees and remaining as alert as possible.

'Honestly,' she thought as she walked, 'I can't believe we didn't think up a meet-up strategy earlier... Rookie mistake.' To his face, Noir was probably going to blame Summanus for this, but deep down she knew that it was partially her fault as well. Never before had she actually worked with another fox in a heist, so something like meeting up afterwards wasn't at the forefront of her mind.

She seemed to be closing in on him. Summanus's scent was pretty strong now, but Noir was a little perplexed by another smell her nose was picking up. A human's, perhaps? But Summanus was supposed to lure them away from the camp, and simply attacking them wouldn't be too helpful for that. And humans have those weapons... Unconsciously, Noir picked up her pace.

Suddenly he was visible. Noir squinted, staring through the trees, trying to get a good look at him as they approached each other. Her jaw almost dropped, an impulse she resisted when she remembered the bag of gems still in her mouth. Summanus was limping in the worst of ways, and there was a ton of blood all down his front. She closed the distance to him, placing the rubies on the ground nearby in the meantime.

"Summanus, how did this happen?" Noir exclaimed. Surprised that he had been walking on it his leg, she crouched down to examine the gunshot wound, but did so at a bit of a distance. She was used to dealing with her own wounds - she had gotten into more than a few scrapes before - but she still wasn't really used to dealing with other foxes. "You need to rest," she said. "And put some amount of pressure on this wound to stop the bleeding."

"Hello to you too..." He muttered. Summanus was quite taken back by the attention. He wasn't used to others wanting to actually take care of him. Unconsiously he took a step back. Pride snapped at him, making his words quick and his voice grumble. " Damn ******** started trying to head back...Didn't know if you were done with the heist...Got too close, and one of 'em shot me." He scowled. He'd made such a stupid mistake. Gotten distracted, and now he was hurt.

" I'm fine." He insisted defiantly, though it wasn't particularly directed at her. " I'm fine...I-I can take care of myself."

"I'm OK...see?" He reasoned in a lighter tone, taking a step and putting weight on his bad leg. Bad idea. He stumbled, barely catching himself from falling. " ARGH!!! ******** THAT HURTS!" Pain radiated from his shoulder.

He was silent for a few moments, collecting his thoughts and deliberately avoiding the gaze of the vixen. He was starting to feel a little woozy. Finally, he agreed in a low voice. "Fine...perhaps...perhaps I could use some rest...and...help."

"Just don't even think about taking off with the rubies in the meantime, Nameless."

Noir listened to his story without looking away from the wound. He insisted he was fine, but body language told her otherwise. She frowned, watching him attempt to put weight on that leg. That was a bad idea, but at least it stopped him from being stubborn for much longer. There wasn't really any time to waste.

"I'm not going to leave you," Noir said, moving to his injured side. "You already know where I live, and you'd recover long before I could completely move somewhere else." She took a better look at his wound now, wondering how best to stop the blood flow.

She glanced between his leg and the pile of rubies she had left on the ground nearby. And, more importantly, the cloth she had cut from the tent to transport them. "I should use that to wrap up your leg," she said, going to roll the rubies onto the dirt. They'd have to be moved some other way. Noir continued, "Then, if you really don't think you can fly, we'll have to amble our way over to the closest body of water to clean out the wound and rest." Noir wrapped the bit of tent around Summanus's wound tightly, hoping she wasn't hurting him to badly. Meanwhile, she thought back to when she was flying over the area, trying to mentally figure out the lay of the land.

"I believe there's a river just north of here," she mentioned.

"I'm not going to leave you"

Summanus shook himself, both mentally and physically. It meant nothing. Nothing at all. Gods, he had to get his mind right. Probably the blood loss...yeah, that's what it was. It was messing with him.

"What are you-" He started in a horrified tone when she began to grind the precious stones into the dirt. Then it clicked. Oh. Right. "Is there any way of-of taking them with us?" He knew it was useless...but...but, the rubies. Why were they forced to leave the rubies?! He started grumbling under his breath, which lasted the whole time the vixen was bandaging him.

"Of course I can fly, I'm not completely helpless. Sorry...I just...don't like being injured. Where is this river? I'm counting on you to lead the way."

Noir rolled her eyes as Summanus questioned her actions. "Our only shot - excuse the pun - of taking them with us is if I bury them now and return for them once I've gotten you..." She paused momentarily, glancing at the wound again. Thankfully, the blood hadn't visibly seeped through the cloth yet. "... squared away. Regardless, we should be off."

Noir turned away from him, so that the northern star could be seen in the sky ahead of her, and took off. She was gaining altitude at a much slower rate than she was used to, constantly checking behind her to make sure that Summanus could, in fact, fly without the pain hindering him too much. She reached a point high enough above the trees and stopped to wait for him to catch up.

In the meantime, she took note of her surroundings. The river was long and wide, and visible from where she was, if at a bit of a distance. Noir also made a mental map of the exact spot she had stored their buried treasure. Like hell Noir would return to her cave at the end of this day with absolutely nothing to show for it. There was an unusual amount of scorch marks on the surrounding dirt, so she was confident of finding the area again, although she might have to wait until the sun returned.

Once Summanus had caught up, Noir continued, flying in as straight a line as possible. It didn't take more than a few minutes before she landed at the river side. This particular body of water flowed rather quickly, and wasn't particularly shallow. She turned to her companion and beckoned him over, closer to the water's edge. "This is good. Couldn't have asked for a better river," she said. "We won't have to deal much with the dirt and rocks on the river floor."

Summanus gave a grimace of frustration. She was right, but that did not mean he had to like it. He dug his claws into the earth, not caring if it pissed off his wound. "Tch...Alright, but I don't like this."He noticed her eyeing his wound. "I'm not going to die, it's not like I'm some weak little kit." He snapped, trying- and failing- to hide his embarrassment of needing help. Of ******** up the whole plan. "...think my pride's more wounded than I am anyway..."He muttered to himself. Stupid! Stupid!

He took off after her, gritting his teeth in determination. No way was he going to fall behind. No. Friggin'. Way. He knew she was going at a slower pace on purpose, and indignation flared inside him. He was always so grumpy when he got hurt...

He had to bite his tongue when she beckoned him. Stop himself from making some snide remark. She was just trying to help...just trying to help. He needed to cool the hell down. He grunted "Good. Uhh...good job...thanks..." His voice trailing off. He blinked, what was he doing? ...Idiot.Without another word carefully unwrapped his makeshift bandage and slunk into the river. He would like to think that he didn't look like a scolded house cat, but he wasn't entirely convinced. The water was colder than he had anticipated, but whatever. Nothing he couldn't handle. Psh. He set to work attempting to clean the wound...was the metal piece that caused it still in there? How could he tell?

'I swear to god, if I have to start digging around in there, I'm gonna lose it...'

Noir decided to aim her focus away from Summanus. She doubted the 'Daeva wanted to feel like her attention was on him during this moment of weakness. Which it undoubtedly was, not because of the bullet but because they had to leave behind the rubies on his account. So she averted her eyes, directing them a bit downriver, watching as the clear water was tinted red with blood.

"If it makes you feel any better," Noir casually began, taking her eyes off the rather entrancing sight of the two liquids mixing, "I'm pretty sure some vixens find battle scars sexy." She glanced back at him, wondering why he wasn't finished yet. Cleaning a wound shouldn't take too long, right? Noir went to the very edge of the water. "Speaking of, it should be clean enough by now, surely?"

Summanus chuckled at the vixen's comment, still internally debating whether to go digging around inside his wound for a bullet that may not even be there. He wasn't squeamish, just didn't really see the point in unnecessary pain. " And would miss nameless be one of those vixens, I wonder~" he teased playfully. Yup. Same old Summanus no matter what the situation.

He was silent for a moment, thinking. Then: "Mmmph...I'm wondering if the bullet's still in there...I don't really wanna go poking around for nothing though, might get infected if I play with it too much." It wasn't really a question, but he voiced it in such a way that it asked for the vixen's opinion. Yeah, he'll leave it up to her. Give him someone to blame if it all went to hell...he was already chastising himself enough for getting the damn wound in the first place.

"Keep on wondering," was her only response, as Noir joined Summanus in the river to get a better look at his wound. It was much easier to examine now that he wasn't bleeding as profusely and his fur was no longer matted and dark around the area. But she also wasn't sure how to determine the location of the bullet. "There doesn't seem to be an exit wound," she said. A bad sign, but didn't necessarily mean that the bullet was still in his leg somewhere; it could have simply gone in and out the same way.

Noir looked right into the bullet hole, trying to find some form of definitive proof one way or the other, but to no avail. "I honestly can't tell," she finally said. "Which means it either isn't there, or it's too dark to see. If it were me, then you're right, I wouldn't want to risk an infection by opening it up even more. So unless it starts really bothering you, to the point where it does seem like the bullet is still lodged in there somewhere, I wouldn't mess with it for right now. I can check again in the morning, just to be sure."

Her response only spurred his glee. Ah, teasing others was always so fun, especially with this one. He further inspected his wound along with her and grunted in agreement. No exit wound. Not good.

"Gore sure doesn't faze you now does it? Impressive I guess. I'd rather that than some fox who would faint at the first sight of this bad boy." The vixen was right, what she said was logical. Though there was a pang of embarrassment at having to be looked after. Summanus nodded in agreement. "Seems like a good plan."

Wait...Nameless and him spending the night together? Looks like every cloud had a silver lining after all~. Not in a perverted way. No way was he that type of fox. Just the fact that he'd be able to pester her all night and maybe even through the morning. 'Course, if she wanted to screw, he wouldn't exactly say no...

He tried to mask his thoughts by directing the conversation onto another topic. "So when do you suppose we go back for the jewels? Tomorrow morning?" It was getting pretty dark, but if she wanted to go get them, then fine by him. He would come along, of course, he still didn't know this fox all that well (not even her bloody name!) and he did not want her taking off with the prize.

((He's all class... stare ))

Noir took her eyes off of Summanus's leg, lifting her head to look right at him. "I've had to deal with a number of my own wounds," she said, by way of explanation. "I don't exactly have anyone else to look after me, so I learned to get over it early on. There's really no use for a squeamish fox in my line of... work."

During the short pause that ensued, Noir took the time to return to the banks of the river and dry herself off. At his questions, she nodded and said, "Yes, at the crack of dawn, preferably. I don't doubt that they'll be safe where they are until it's light."

Noir debated what to do in the meantime. They would need a place to spend the night that was not too far from the rubies, not too far from the river, far enough that no vengeance-seeking human would stumble upon them in the middle of the night, and comfortable. But she could probably sacrifice that last one for the sake of the other three.

"Until then," Noir began, continuing the previous discussion, "did you happen to see any place nearby that we could sleep? Some well hidden and conveniently located cave or grassy clearing, perhaps?"
