It wasn't like him to wonder so close to the village. He usually kept a distance from the "civilized" Azerin and their human companions. Not because he hated them, but because he didn't understand them.
The humans made him uncomfortable, always wanting to "tame" him. He didn't mind the occasional girl who wanted to brush his mane and braid his tail. He rather liked that, but it was the one's who thought they could "tame" him. This was how he saw it. An Azerin who took a human companion had become tamed.
It wasn't for him.
But today he thought it might be worth the trouble to get one of those grooming sessions he so liked. His tail was getting a little gnarled, and his coat was looking a dull.

Pepper was bored. There hadn't been any other Azrien of interest to talk to in this little village. She had stopped here briefly during her travels, mainly driven by curiosity to see what little treasures the place might have held... but found nothing. She thought humans were interesting enough, but hadn't yet found one that called her to form that everlasting bond.
Wandering near the outskirts of the little village, she gazed off into the surrounding fields, sighing softly to herself. She wished she could at least find someone to talk to for a bit!

With a toss of his head, his mane goes flying from one side of his neck to the other as he starts off down the lane towards the village. His stride casual, and slow, but purposeful. He dips his head, nipping a blade of grass from the side of the road with practiced precession.
The single strand of grass hangs from the corner of his mouth as he walks. His nostrils flare as he moves closer to the town, already picking up the scent of pies cooling on window sills.
That would be one perk to having a human companion. Delicious morsels of food that he doesn't have to sweet talk his way into getting, or without stooping to steal it.

Shaking heavy bangs out of her face, she turned and decided to walk around the outskirts to clear her head. As she made her way around the small houses, she saw a figure not too far off in the distance. Perking up with interest, she pricked her ears forward and began to trot toward the brown figure. It appeared to be another Azrien.. but was it friend or foe?
As she quickly grew closer to the other Azrien, she let out a whinny as a greeting.

He turned his head as he heard the whinny and approaching hoof beats. A spotted mare was heading his way.
He'd never seen any Azerin with spots like that. He found it interesting.
He turned to greet her as she got close enough to hear.
"Good afternoon," he said in a slow, lazy drawl.

She smiled at the chocolate brown Azrien as she approached and tossed her long mane behind her. She nodded at him and smiled again. "Why hello there handsome!", she said with a wink and a flip of her tail. "What brings you this way?"
She eyed him carefully, though she was careful not to show those cautious emotions on her face. She hoped that he was friendly and that he wasn't here to cause any damage to anyone. Though she wasn't bonded to anyone here, she would still protect the humans if this one proved to be evil.

"I'm just out for a stroll. Thought maybe I'd get lucky and find a few small human girls willing to brush out my tail and mane for me. It's been a while. I like the attention from time to time."
He tilted his head, studying her as he spoke. "And what bout yourself?"

She calmed down internally as soon as he said he wanted a human to brush out his tail. An evil Azrien wouldn't have said that.. at least she didn't think so.
She chuckled and said, "Who doesn't like a little attention now and then?" She looked him over appraisingly and smiled to herself. He certainly was handsome! She hoped he would stick around for a little while at least to give her some company.
She flicked her short tail as she answered his question. "Not much really... I like to travel and decided to stop here to see if there was anything or anyone interesting around." She huffed a little and pawed at the soft turf with a front hoof. "There's nooothing here though. It's sooooo boring! I mean, the people are nice and all, but no one interesting that can actually hold a conversation, you know?"

Chuckled as he listened. "Oh yes, ma'am. I know what you mean. I've heard so many humans give me their life story, thinking I'd find it interesting. I pretend to, but I honestly don't care. I think that maybe they are hoping to impress me into chosing them. But, honestly," he shakes his head lightly, the feathers quivering.
He shifted, as if taking a step back so that he could better inspect her. She was a lovely mare, but then most of them were. Her spots were very interesting. He could easily spend days looking at all the patterns hidden in those spots.
"So, who braided yer mane? They did a fine job of it." He asked conversationally.

She giggled softy at his comment about humans and their life stories. Noticing that he was looking her over, she smiled coyly and shifted so he could get a better look. He wasn't the only one checking out someone though. She was also giving him the once over, admiring the muscles rippling under his hide, the interesting pattern on his flank, and the feathers wrapped in his mane and tail.
She shook her head slightly as she realized he had asked her a question, then gave him a quick smile. "Some of the little girl humans in the village braided it for me. They seem to think it's a game or something." She chuckled and flipped the braid over to the other side of her neck. "It is pretty though.. I rather like it." She smiled at him again, and indicated the direction with a toss of her head. "If you want to follow me this way, I can show you where they like to play. I'm sure they wouldn't mind fixing you up too."

He lifted his head a little higher, or so it seemed, as if want her to see him in his full stature. He watched her as she moved, her spots moving in a rather hypnotic way.
He smiled slowly. The grin rather crooked and cocky looking, though there was nothing cocky about his demeanor. "I'd greatly appreciate it. I could really use the grooming." He looked back over the length of his side, noting how dull his usual chocolate colored hide appeared.

She chuckled and nudged him in the shoulder gently but playfully. "Well come on this way handsome... we'll get ya cleaned up in a jiffy!" She winked and began walking in toward the center of the village where she knew the little girls would probably be playing.
She had really liked the way he had smiled at her.. it was absolutely adorable! She couldn't wait to see how he looked after he was cleaned and groomed.
Glancing over her shoulder to see if he was following her she said, "I'm Pepper, by the way."

He grinned that lopsided grin as he walked along side her. His gait slow and lazy, as if he had all the time in the world.
"Pepper, hm? Are you as spicy as your name suggests?" He teased. "I'm called Tasunke," he added rather off handedly as if it really wasn't important what is name is.
