It's going to be a couple of years until the next election cycle, but I'm seriously considering running for city council next time around. I'm also seriously considering registering and running as a Libertarian. Does anyone have any experience with something like this? Any advice? I know I'm not the only "old man" on this site or in this guild, so I'd appreciate what you can give me.

I think it's a great idea. I'm young/inexperienced to run for any office myself, so I'm glad someone is thinking about it.

Can't really offer any advice at all. As the only thing I have ever done was hold a position in a University branch of the Aotearoa, New Zealand Green party. I wish you luck though.

I'm only 18, and the only elected office I've held on the adult scale is a Utah state delegate. I suppose for your case, it all depends on where your competition is coming from and how big your city is. For example, in my small town of 400 people there was only one person who even ran for mayor. So that would have been easy enough. If you don't mind me asking, what city are you running in?
