 The echoing crackle of laughter resounded through the depths, the flow following the currents till it trailed to Syren's ears. The sound was one that she hadn't hoped to hear at this sort of hour, and not this far away from the area that she had called home. Her fin unwrapped from around her body, raising into a stretch up toward the sunlight that had barely pierced the water below. One golden eye opened with the sound of laughter continued and sounding as though it were drawing closer, now that she had been able to hear it more clearly...She knew that laugh.

What had that fool done to himself this time to be swimming this far toward the shores? Stretching out her paws on the rock that she had once been napping on, her head turned in the direction of the sounds. Whatever it may have been, she doubted it could have been pleasant.
