Basics :: xxxxxName: Jasper xxxxxNickname(s): Anything can come up in rp, I just don't have any in mind. xxxxxFaction: Diamonds xxxxxAge: 25 xxxxxHeight: 5'8" xxxxxBody Type: Lithe. Growing up he's a little pudgy, but by the time he's an adult he's shot up and thinned out. Still no muscle man big shot, but not scrawny either.
Poké-basics :: xxxxxPokemon: Chandelure xxxxxPokemon type: Ghost and Fire xxxxxNatural Ability: Shadow Tag xxxxxPerma: Nope! He'll evolve into a Chandelure. xxxxxMoveset: Fire Spin, Astonish, Smog, Shadow Ball
Personality :: xxxxxPositive Traits Adaptable: Jasper doesn't like feeling outwitted, and he especially doesn't like feeling defenseless. He has learned how to think on his toes because of this. It's almost like a defense mechanism. During a hunt he tries to keep things light and going his way, but most people aren't drunk like some of the men in the bar. When they happen to catch onto what is going on, he quickly turns it into something they might like; a one-night stand, a friendly walk home, whatever they need. Using body language he tries to adapt to the person.
Friendly: He is an overall friendly person. Jasper has no reason to be mean to people, in fact they probably have more of a reason to be mean to him than he to them. Fear is something he doesn't like to taste in the energy he harnesses, so he does his best to keep friendly and keep the person calm. However, Jasper likes the hint of betrayal in the energy that comes from the not so innocent act. While he needs to harness energy to live, people see it as something wrong and a "dirty" way of life. After the first few times of asking and getting rejected, he learned his lesson about asking people to harness their energy, so he doesn't anymore. Instead he started putting on an act when around people, getting them to trust him. The most essential moment before Jasper harnesses the energy is when the betrayal enters the victims energy. That is the moment when they realize Jasper isn't as innocent as he seems. The act around people started becoming more a part of him as he as he spent more and more time around people.
xxxxxNeutral Traits Observant: Working in a bar, he listens a lot. Listens to the drunks and their problems, the nearly drunk and their problems, the just getting drunk and their problems. It's really quite annoying. However, he continues to listen to it all. When there seems to be a pause for his thoughts, he usually nudges the person into another ten minute venting session. It keeps Jasper in the conversation enough to satisfy the customer without really becoming attached to the topic or person. Not only does Jasper listen, but he watches. He likes body language. He almost prefers to focus on it instead of the words that are spoken. Both listening and watching, give him a ripe hunting grounds. It makes it easy for him to decipher who would "taste" the best. Not everything he hears or sees is something he likes, however. Sometimes people come in just to cause trouble or talk about the conflicts between different factions. He tries to let it slip if they're not bothering anybody, but there is the slim chance when it gets to be too much and he has to dismiss them from the premisses. Being in the Diamonds faction, he is not very tolerant with the outside factions fighting. It is one of those things that annoys him. The individuals he has to dismiss aren't the friendliest and don't like listening to reason. Because he has to be more hardheaded, his friendly demeanor is thrown out the window. He doesn't like doing it, especially if there are a lot of customers, but in situations like that it just sort of happens.
xxxxxNegative Traits Selective Memory: In the bar he hears so much he doesn't care about. So he just forgets it. Kind of like "In one ear and out the other", only he lets it happen. If he wanted to he could remember things. Like he remembers the date for rent, or where to find honeysuckles. It's convenient for him, but when he does manage to get close to people, he forgets a lot of the important things because he himself doesn't necessarily see them as important.
Liar: Jasper just likes to lie. Why should people know the truth if it'll just piss them off. It's always best to say what they want to hear to get what he wants. Which is usually what happens. He lies to please the person, only to turn around and steal their energy. It goes along with his being friendly to people, there is always going to be the moments when Jasper thinks about a person's energy. It's a very similar concept of "can men and women just be friends". Because Jasper knows people don't just offer their energy to be taken, he does his best to keep the person unaware. People being drunk is very helpful as they usually don't remember when they wake up anyways. However, because he lies all the time, it makes it difficult for him to form real relationships. Especially ones that need the truth, that need him to be honest.
xxxxxLikes: Alcohol, sweets, night, long walks floats on the beach (or anywhere really), pickles, music, birds xxxxxDislikes: The sick or dying, oranges, hunting at the last minute, fish (living or dead), wind, faction conflicts/fights/wars xxxxxFavourite Food: Sugar/Caffeine/Sweet rich energy. Real food wise he seems to favor Honeysuckles..even though it's a flower.
xxxxxHobbies: Bird Watching: He just finds it relaxing to sit and watch birds fly around. Secretly, he wishes he could fly like that. He can float, but flying as they do would use a lot of energy. Sometimes Jasper wakes up early, or just stays up since the bar closes late, and go out for the day. The tunes they sing are catchy and sometimes he can be caught whistling the tune for a few days. Not only does he like listening to them, but birds fascinate him. He has gone out of his way to learn about the different types and what they eat. On occasion, he tries to feed them from his hand, but it rarely works so he just leaves the food where he knows the birds will find it.
xxxxxInterests: Flowers: He doesn't know a lot about them, but they do interest them. With their colors and swaying and relaxing. Why they grow where they do and what they need to grow in different areas. They're over all interesting to him. At some point he found that some are edible -- Honeysuckles -- and he wants to know if other's are just as good. But he doesn't seem to look into it as much as he's curious about it. Roller Coasters: He likes the feeling of "losing his stomach" on the rides. When days are slow at work, he finds himself curious about how they work. However, he doesn't ever see the need to look into it. Sometimes good things are best left to the imagination. Caligraphy: There is no real back ground for this interest. He just likes watching the flow of it being done. He can admire the skill it takes to do it, but fails miserably at it. Jasper's hand writing is terrible at it's best, so he just likes to look at it and watch people doing it for now.
xxxxxFaction Opinion: "I like it here, I'm able to keep to myself but also hold my own. I can have opinions about others and not get knocked down for it. People are not in my business, it's nice." xxxxxAspirations: "I want to be free. To do what I want, to have a stable source of food and income. But also have distance from the sick or dying. They do not interest me, so I do not wish to be around them. Maybe I'll open some type of business that will give me a steady flow of cash and energies."
Employment:: xxxxxTitle: Taunting Thief xxxxxJob: Owner and bartender of a small Tavern. It's really no bigger than a cabin, but is two stories because he lives on the second floor.
Appearance:: xxxxxHair: It's really up to the artist. All I ask is that his right eye is covered as a child and possibly as teenage, too. xxxxxEyes: Umm... What ever fits him. He doesn't have a right eye though. Nope, it's just not there. He never remembers having one. And he doesn't want one; in other words, he doesn't want an artificial eye in his teenage/adult years. xxxxxSkin tone: Pale, not very tanned. But he's not sickly white. xxxxxPalette: Anything that will fit with how the artist sees him. But for ideas, this or this. Maybe sort of professional with the way his outfit is colored, but still with nice Wonderlandy twists. xxxxxClothing: Since he will be a bartender, maybe nicer bartendy clothes. Nothing too stuffy though, untied tie, maybe a couple buttons undone on his shirt. Something he can easily make comfortable when not working, but look professional during work. Which takes up a lot of time since he doesn't need to hunt like he used to. xxxxxAdditional: He has no right eye. If his hair changes to the point he can no longer cover it, he'd probably start wearing an eye patch or something like that.

I-I can post my entry, c-correct? If not, I'll take it down! Just let me know! <3
Quote: A generally pale flame seemed even paler as the night went on. The small boy seemed to float lower to the ground with each passing moment, small hands falling at his sides. He was lazy and hungry. He wanted to eat. Well, eat how his kind ate. The thought caused the boy to lick his lips. After a moment, he uncrossed his legs and wiggled his toes before landing gently on the ground. Although he landed gently, he stumbled for a few steps to get his stride correct. Jasper hated walking, very much. It was just so much easier to float everywhere. However, for now he needed to walk. Seeing a floating boy still seemed to put people off. You would think they were used to seeing odd things in this world! Regardless, the child licked his lips again. He wandered toward the Caterpillar’s territory. When he got to the amusement park, he didn't pay at the entrance. Instead he floated again and went over the fence on the side. When he landed again, he panted a bit. Jasper's golden eyes glanced at his dirty feet, toes wiggling again. Now wasn't the time to admire the dirt in contrast to his pale skin! He lifted a hand up to his hair and brushed his bangs into place over his right eye. With a yawn, he started off to find his "meal". It was near closing, so there weren’t many people there. However, these were Jasper's favorite people to lead astray. They're souls were always so excited from their adventure, but tired and easy to collect from their long day. The excitement on their soul was the nutrition, what he liked best was the sugar high most of them were on or getting over. The thought of such savory souls made the boy drool as he padded along. He lifted a sleeved hand up to wipe his mouth, leaving it there to hide his excited smile while his eyes looked around for who he wanted to trick. Seeing a couple and another child heading for an exit, he stopped to watch them. If Jasper really cared he could tell the small group consisted of a Vulpix child maybe a little older than him, a yanma teenager, and a huntail teenager. They were smiling and the yanma lifted the boy for a piggy back ride. Just like that, Jasper wanted the bug. After another moment of standing there, the litwick rubbed at his eye with his sleeved fist, sniffling and starting to breathe funny. Soon enough he started to cry, tears streaking down his cheeks. With that, he started running toward the leaving couple. He fell once on his way, his was shirt much too big and tripped him. The tears before had been fake, but now they were real. He wasn't sure if he could get up at first, but he pushed himself up and ran over to them still. His knee throbbed and he ran with a slight limp, but he was so hungry he didn't care anymore! When he caught up to them, he wrapped his small arms around one of the yanma's legs. He gave a hiccup and nuzzled into the leg. "P-please help me find my daddy!" He spoke between broken, well placed sobs. The couple stopped and looked down at the litwick who only continued crying. After a look between the two teens, the yanma reached down to pat Jasper's head lightly, careful of the flame. "Shh, it's okay Hun. We'll help you. C'mon, stop crying. Where did you see him last?" After a moment of shifting, the vulpix was handed over to the other teenager. "We should take him to the help desk." While Jasper clung and cried, shaking his head, the couple conversed quietly as if talking louder would upset the crying child more. When he felt they'd been talking long enough, he gave a nasty cough that came from crying into his sleeve. Now "calmed down", Jasper looked up at them. "Okay, let's go. I'll take you to the help desk; you two can go the entrance." The yanma kissed both of his companions and then bent over to lift Jasper. "Now, let's get you to your daddy." Without much more to say, Jasper clung to the larger male. His body and chest shook now and then as he took a breath due to his crying. Of course, before they could get to the help desk, he tugged on the other's shirt. "I have to go potty..." The yanma blinked and looked down. "Oh, okay. We can stop there first." It was that simple, they headed toward the nearest bathrooms. At the bathroom, Jasper was set down and he walked into the bathroom, limping a bit from his fall earlier. He forced himself to go to the bathroom, sitting on the large toilet awkwardly for a moment. He hopped off, flushed and ran out. With the yanma's help, he washed his hands. However, instead of being set down the other set Jasper on the sink's edge and carefully lifted the shirt to his knee. "When did you get this?!" He sounded worried, Jasper wasn't used to that. He felt uncomfortable as the other hurried to get some paper towels. First he dried Jasper's hands, and then got some more wet under the tap. All Jasper could do was watch, wincing and gripping the sink as it stung. "Ow...” A small smile pulled onto the older boy's lips before saying, "It's okay, and I’m almost done." There was some more silence and then he looked it over quietly. "There, all done." Jasper had been confused as to why he was so nice, but he snapped out of it when it was announced they were done. He quickly fell back into "hunting mode". Too big sleeves reached over to the yanma's cheeks. He pressed his small hands against the other's cheeks and lifted his head to look at him. "Thank you." Jasper gave a smile, it was well practiced but this time he meant it. After a moment, he lifted his right hand and brushed the bangs from his face. After a moment of confusion on the other's face, about to open his mouth to say 'You're welcome', Jasper opened his closed eye. Only there wasn't an eye, he just opened his eye lids. He wasn't sure he ever had an eye or if he even wanted one. Jasper smiled still, the eye contact allowing him to harvest the other's energy. To keep him there, Jasper moved his hand so he held the yanma's head in the space between his thumb and index finger. The other was already close to the ground, so if he fell to a knee it wouldn't be difficult to keep him up. There was a moment of shock that played across his victim's face before his blue eyes lost their shine. They became a dull color and soon his face lost some of the same shine. Jasper felt the boy become heavier as he lost ability to really hold himself up. During the deterioration of the yanma's energy, a strange white thread-like matter left his mouth. It danced in the air for a moment before it entered Jasper's eye. Most of it anyways, when Jasper felt the male almost completely drained, he closed his eye and let the hair drop down to cover it again. He then leaned close to open his mouth near the other's gasping one. Once again the thread-like substance appeared again. Only this time Jasper ate it. The matter slowed again, the victim's mouth closing and eyes no longer able to stay open. Jasper sucked the last of it up before closing his own mouth. "Thanks mister." Jasper gave a small, dark giggle. He closed his eyes and let go of the other. Already his flame was brighter. As the victim fell to the floor, a thud sounded. He fell in a way that didn't look very comfortable to Jasper, but he wasn't going to fix that. Instead he floated off the sink and to the soap dispenser. He took some, spreading it on the floor, and then along the male's foot. Still floating above the body, Jasper yawned into his sleeve. A darker part of Jasper said he should slam the head into the ground so it really did look like the accident he was trying to make it look like. After a moment of contemplation, he floated to the head and took it between his hands. Jasper moved his hands away to pull his sleeves up and bite on a bit of the fabric from each arm. Once again he placed a hand on each side and slammed it on the floor once, twice. He lifted the head for another blow, but dropped it, figuring the two had been enough. After a quick check to his hands, making sure there was no blood, he floated higher and opened his mouth to drop the sleeves and let them fall into their usual place. The boy floated out of the bathroom, using his back to push the door out and open. With a quick glance around he floated up and over the gate he'd come over before. With such sweet energy, he would be good for a couple days.

Okay, heyo! I'm gonna talk about things in order, from top to bottom, so you can run on down it with me !
First off, I think you've got a lot of potential in here. If I'm right in seeing where you're going with Jasper, I think you've the capability to make a very interesting character.
Adaptable: Okay, cool! He's adaptable. That's... really all I get from this description, though! You don't really tell me much with what you have. What I want to know is, to what extent does this manifest? Give examples, show me how he thinks on his toes! And what happens when he's caught off guard? Is there some deeper fear of being out of his element? Is this the fuel for the trait, or do you have another reasoning? I don't just want to see that this is a part of him, I want to see WHY this is a part of him, how he views it, and how it works in the greater machine that is Jasper.
Friendly: It took me a second to figure out what you meant by Jasper's not liking fear in his energy (which I am assuming to mean the energy he siphons as his pokemon ability allows)! You may want to clarify this a little bit, that he prefers the taste of happy people most, because I think it offers the opportunity to imply that maybe his friendliness, while genuine, might not be so pure and innocent. It also opens up the opportunity to give him more depth, by giving him this specific taste for happy energy and the occasional twinge of betrayal, as you say. Giving him motivations and desires beyond just how his personality dictates he interacts with others definitely makes him a more appealing and understandable character.
Listener: Not much issue with the actual concept behind this trait, merely in the phrasing. The last sentence always throws me for a loop, every time I read it. I don't know what's not sticking with him, the things he hears or the actual aptitude to listen to the drunken ramblings. I'm assuming it's the former, rather than the latter, so I'd say try to clarify this a little so it's easier to understand! Beyond that, I think this is a pretty good example of a neutral trait, and offers him the opportunity to get himself into a whole bunch of adventures if he, say, “overhears” the right conversation at his bar.
You may even want to consider changing this to “observant,” seeing as a lot of his interests and hobbies revolve around watching and listening!
Liar: As it stands, there's nothing inherently WRONG with this trait, other than it seeming sort of... disjointed from the rest of his personality. It works towards his general need to nourish himself with the energy of others, but I like to think of the human personality as a multitude of meshing factors that all work towards a central goal, as opposed to separate and disparate traits that make sense on their own but get confusing together.
I think, though, that this can be very easily rectified if you were to rework Friendly as I've suggested and include a little bit of sinister personal motivations behind the polite facade. That way, this makes a little more sense, seeing as he's saying what people want to hear to keep them happy and complacent, so he can in turn drain from them perfectly maintained happy energy.
...
Okay, so let me sum this up for you: I'm getting that Jasper is a very bored, very observant, and still very polite bartender, who sees and hears a lot that he doesn't care to remember, and often REFUSES to remember, even when it's important. He's driven mainly by a desire to feed off of the energy of others, and I think this can be a very good vice that he might have to overcome to grow into a more pleasant, sociable being, or perhaps it can be a crux that he always carries with him. If I have any of that wrong, if I'm way off the mark, tell me how you see him, and I'll try to help you get Jasper there!
This is a lot of information to process, Mattie, and I know you've been having a bit of trouble with Jasper. I want you to know that you did an awesome job, and I can see how hard you've been trying. This has the potential to be a really great character, and I'll be here every step of the way to help. You just IM me if you have any questions, and I'll do my best to help you get where you want to be.
