I had a question for those who keep correction people when they post that abortion is murder.
In the case of cults that kill thier members like Jonestown and Heavens Gate are these homicides or murders?
I mean you could make a case that it was not murder because the killings were not done for malicious reasons only ignorance just like abortion.
If these cult leaders had been caught alive could they have been convicted of murder?

I don't think so. They could be charged with influencing the scuicide of others, but I think thats about it. I'll have to check with my dad.

both are murder. Ignornace or not it is murder. Killing a child for your stupid mistake is murder. Killing a cult member, whether it's homicide or downright murder (which technically is the same thing) is murder!

I do think they could be tried for murder in court since there isw a direct connection. The reason why a lot of people say that abortion is not murder, though I'm sure a number of people do wish it were, is because "murder" is a legal term. Murder is illegal. Abortion is not. Homicide, by definition, is the killing of a human. Even if abortion does not fit the technical definition of murder, it certainly DOES fit the definition of homicide.

Homicide, by definition, is the killing of a human. Even if abortion does not fit the technical definition of murder, it certainly DOES fit the definition of homicide. Exactly. It's a technicallity they always, ALWAYS bring up. And they're right, legally, abortion isn't murder. Neither was the holocaust by that definition. And they were done with malicious intent, weren't they? The people doing it knew they would cause harm to the other people.

I think we're all at the breaking point, not sure though. There are only so many times you can get hate mail and be called anti-woman/pro-punishment/pro-parasite for being prolife without wanting to strike back. I know after 24 hours without sleep and flashing lights in my eyes in order to do a stupid test, I'm not the nicest person in the world, I apologize for being rude. I am moving this to ED though, with your permission, because it gives y'all more freedom to actually discuss it in depth.

I won't describe it, I would just suggest not saying things like that without real knowledge. And Jabber has plenty reason to be angry; She posts it over and over and over, and no one seems to get it. There's even a thread somewhere that explains -why- abortion is not murder.

Calm down, everyone. Beware explained why she was angry. The quote was used somewhere else, it wasn't written specifically to yell at anyone. It's pretty frustrating to type the same thing over and over and over again. And lately, the pro-choice guild has been calming down a bit. There haven't been any hate threads lately, and I know that last night I used strong words in another thread. This place has been tense for a few days for some reason.

Definatly not, Im sorry if you got that impression. As lymelady said, we ae all just at our breaking points. We strive to be diplomatic but the other side does not. They mock our religion if we are Christian by saying things such as "the JEEBUS lovers" and attack us personally instead of just our stance.
