A generally pale flame seemed even paler as the night went on. The small boy seemed to float lower to the ground with each passing moment, small hands falling at his sides. He was lazy and hungry. He wanted to eat. Well, eat how his kind ate. The thought caused the boy to lick his lips. After a moment, he uncrossed his legs and wiggled his toes before landing gently on the ground.

Although he landed gently, he stumbled for a few steps to get his stride correct. Jasper hated walking, very much. It was just so much easier to float everywhere. However, for now he needed to walk. Seeing a floating boy still seemed to put people off. You would think they were used to seeing odd things in this world! Regardless, the child licked his lips again. He wandered toward the Caterpillar’s territory. When he got to the amusement park, he didn't pay at the entrance. Instead he floated again and went over the fence on the side. When he landed again, he panted a bit.

Jasper's golden eyes glanced at his dirty feet, toes wiggling again. Now wasn't the time to admire the dirt in contrast to his pale skin! He lifted a hand up to his hair and brushed his bangs into place over his right eye. With a yawn, he started off to find his "meal".

It was near closing, so there weren’t many people there. However, these were Jasper's favorite people to lead astray. They're souls were always so excited from their adventure, but tired and easy to collect from their long day. The excitement on their soul was the nutrition, what he liked best was the sugar high most of them were on or getting over. The thought of such savory souls made the boy drool as he padded along. He lifted a sleeved hand up to wipe his mouth, leaving it there to hide his excited smile while his eyes looked around for who he wanted to trick.

Seeing a couple and another child heading for an exit, he stopped to watch them. If Jasper really cared he could tell the small group consisted of a Vulpix child maybe a little older than him, a yanma teenager, and a huntail teenager. They were smiling and the yanma lifted the boy for a piggy back ride. Just like that, Jasper wanted the bug. After another moment of standing there, the litwick rubbed at his eye with his sleeved fist, sniffling and starting to breathe funny. Soon enough he started to cry, tears streaking down his cheeks. With that, he started running toward the leaving couple.

He fell once on his way, his was shirt much too big and tripped him. The tears before had been fake, but now they were real. He wasn't sure if he could get up at first, but he pushed himself up and ran over to them still. His knee throbbed and he ran with a slight limp, but he was so hungry he didn't care anymore!

When he caught up to them, he wrapped his small arms around one of the yanma's legs. He gave a hiccup and nuzzled into the leg. "P-please help me find my daddy!" He spoke between broken, well placed sobs.

The couple stopped and looked down at the litwick who only continued crying. After a look between the two teens, the yanma reached down to pat Jasper's head lightly, careful of the flame.

"Shh, it's okay Hun. We'll help you. C'mon, stop crying. Where did you see him last?" After a moment of shifting, the vulpix was handed over to the other teenager. "We should take him to the help desk."

While Jasper clung and cried, shaking his head, the couple conversed quietly as if talking louder would upset the crying child more. When he felt they'd been talking long enough, he gave a nasty cough that came from crying into his sleeve. Now "calmed down", Jasper looked up at them.

"Okay, let's go. I'll take you to the help desk; you two can go the entrance." The yanma kissed both of his companions and then bent over to lift Jasper. "Now, let's get you to your daddy."

Without much more to say, Jasper clung to the larger male. His body and chest shook now and then as he took a breath due to his crying. Of course, before they could get to the help desk, he tugged on the other's shirt. "I have to go potty..."

The yanma blinked and looked down. "Oh, okay. We can stop there first." It was that simple, they headed toward the nearest bathrooms.

At the bathroom, Jasper was set down and he walked into the bathroom, limping a bit from his fall earlier. He forced himself to go to the bathroom, sitting on the large toilet awkwardly for a moment. He hopped off, flushed and ran out. With the yanma's help, he washed his hands. However, instead of being set down the other set Jasper on the sink's edge and carefully lifted the shirt to his knee.

"When did you get this?!" He sounded worried, Jasper wasn't used to that. He felt uncomfortable as the other hurried to get some paper towels. First he dried Jasper's hands, and then got some more wet under the tap.

All Jasper could do was watch, wincing and gripping the sink as it stung. "Ow...”

A small smile pulled onto the older boy's lips before saying, "It's okay, and I’m almost done." There was some more silence and then he looked it over quietly. "There, all done."

Jasper had been confused as to why he was so nice, but he snapped out of it when it was announced they were done. He quickly fell back into "hunting mode". Too big sleeves reached over to the yanma's cheeks. He pressed his small hands against the other's cheeks and lifted his head to look at him.

"Thank you." Jasper gave a smile, it was well practiced but this time he meant it. After a moment, he lifted his right hand and brushed the bangs from his face. After a moment of confusion on the other's face, about to open his mouth to say 'You're welcome', Jasper opened his closed eye.

Only there wasn't an eye, he just opened his eye lids. He wasn't sure he ever had an eye or if he even wanted one. Jasper smiled still, the eye contact allowing him to harvest the other's energy. To keep him there, Jasper moved his hand so he held the yanma's head in the space between his thumb and index finger. The other was already close to the ground, so if he fell to a knee it wouldn't be difficult to keep him up. There was a moment of shock that played across his victim's face before his blue eyes lost their shine. They became a dull color and soon his face lost some of the same shine. Jasper felt the boy become heavier as he lost ability to really hold himself up.

During the deterioration of the yanma's energy, a strange white thread-like matter left his mouth. It danced in the air for a moment before it entered Jasper's eye. Most of it anyways, when Jasper felt the male almost completely drained, he closed his eye and let the hair drop down to cover it again. He then leaned close to open his mouth near the other's gasping one. Once again the thread-like substance appeared again. Only this time Jasper ate it. The matter slowed again, the victim's mouth closing and eyes no longer able to stay open. Jasper sucked the last of it up before closing his own mouth.

"Thanks mister." Jasper gave a small, dark giggle. He closed his eyes and let go of the other. Already his flame was brighter.

As the victim fell to the floor, a thud sounded. He fell in a way that didn't look very comfortable to Jasper, but he wasn't going to fix that. Instead he floated off the sink and to the soap dispenser. He took some, spreading it on the floor, and then along the male's foot. Still floating above the body, Jasper yawned into his sleeve.

A darker part of Jasper said he should slam the head into the ground so it really did look like the accident he was trying to make it look like. After a moment of contemplation, he floated to the head and took it between his hands. Jasper moved his hands away to pull his sleeves up and bite on a bit of the fabric from each arm. Once again he placed a hand on each side and slammed it on the floor once, twice. He lifted the head for another blow, but dropped it, figuring the two had been enough.

After a quick check to his hands, making sure there was no blood, he floated higher and opened his mouth to drop the sleeves and let them fall into their usual place. The boy floated out of the bathroom, using his back to push the door out and open. With a quick glance around he floated up and over the gate he'd come over before.

With such sweet energy, he would be good for a couple days.

May I suggest this for your listening pleasure as you read my entry? it may add to the ambiance.
His ghostly theme

Malo, the spectral Litwick, was having a wonderful time tonight. Though he belonged to the Heart faction, he had spent the whole evening haunting the Clubs' theme park. He took great pleasure in popping balloons, stealing hats and chasing the cars on the roller coasters, much to the displeasure of the park attendees.

Just as the playful ghost was about to clog up all the guns at the water shooting game, he felt his stomach rumble and the glowing wick on his head fizzle. He checked his hands with a pout. His very skin was wavering, fading in and out of translucency. Though he had gobbled down stolen confectionary all night, he needed real food; a living soul.

He sighed, floating up from under the booth. He hated collecting souls. He didn't mind the taste, nor did he really give half a rat's behind about leaving a living creature as an empty shell. No, it was just a mundane chore that cut into his play time.

Some ghosts insisted that souls could be torn out of victims or stolen through ther dreams, but Malo knew the only way to properly extract one was through the mouth. The amount of participants willing to maintain a kiss with a strange ghost child was surprisingly low, so the Litwick had learned to be sneaky.

Often, he could just slurp the souls out of anyone in the Queen's dungeon. They were so lifeless anyway, it hardly made a difference. He would sometimes play with the children of the Diamond faction, gain their trust and lead them from safety. And for the more dangerous situations, trickery and confuse ray always helped.

Malo drifted contemplatively over the crowds. He was too far from the castle and the Diamond's hedge maze, plus all the children here seemed to be with their parents. Bother. Trickery it was.

He formulated a plan. He hovered over to the ferris wheel, peeking into each car as they neared the top. A young couple? He could try to possess one of them and suck the soul out, but possession took a lot of energy. Failure would certainly cause his flame to extinguish. He moved on to the next cart. Children with their father, no. A fierce looking Houndoom of the spades faction? No, thank you!

It was starting to look hopeless, but his mood brightened when he saw a young teenager all by himself in the topmost car. As the wheel pulled to a stop, he knew that was his target!

Edging under the car, he widened his eyes and burst up through the floor, hitting the teenager with a confuse ray.
"What the-!?" The Flaaffy had chance to cry before slumping back in his seat, looking around with bewilderment.

Malo hurried forwards, licking his lips and placing them on the other's mouth. Male or female, a soul was a soul. He slurped, trying to maintain contact as his latest victim swatted feebly and jerked his head all around. Malo gulped back with full force, turning the Flaaffy's face white and his lips blue from pressure. Finally, the Litwick could taste something with the consistency of cream cheese and the taste of pasta. The soul was his! All he had to do was drag the rest of it- YOWCH!

His tiny body was sent tumbling through the side of the car and into the sky. He flipped over and over before catching himself and shaking his head. The Flaaffy seemed to have snapped out of its confusion and sent the poor hungry prankster flying.

Perturbed, Malo dusted himself off and skirted away to find something else to eat. He could feel the gnaw of hunger growing. Even though he wanted to stay and play at the carnival, he was beginning to wish he hadn't wasted all this time and just gone home. There was usually a prisoner or two he was welcome to in the dungeon, though it was not a guarantee and the souls were usually very small and broken down.

He had to think of something else, and fast. The night was growing on... He perched upon the large clock tower in the middle of the park, looking desperately for more victims. No, no, no, YES-op...No. None of them were easy targets and he was fading fast.

And then he saw his solution. A little girl, standing idly by as he father spoke with another grown up. She was bored out of her wits, stomping her feet and folding her arms in place. He supposed he should go and entertain her. Diving, he melted into invisibility, save for the flame brightly burning on his head. He slipped overhead, to a game stall. He plucked a 'medium' prize, a soft pink teddy bear, from the wall.

Returning to his own prize and remaining invisible, he let out a friendly giggle. He didn't know why, but that single chortle always caught his victim's attention. He swooped around her a few times, but all she would see was the floating pink bear and the blue flame making a halo over it. The surskit was hooked the second she saw the bear. With a widening smile, she watched it spin around and around.

When it began to float away, she followed it eagerly.
"Hey come back!" She jumped to her feet, looking to her oblivious papa and back to the bear, leading into an alley. Her dad would never notice. She slipped after the teddy, hurrying down the narrow alleyway between a gift shop and a directory. The bear bounced eagerly, leading her further and further from safety.

It dropped to the ground abruptly and the surskit was happy to pick it up and dust it off. That giggle came again. She turned, eyes widening. A white creature with a horrific glint in its eyes, diving for her. Her scream was cut off as her lips were forced against its hungry ones.

"Rosey! Rosey, where are you!?" The adult Masquerain turned the corner, looking for his child. She sat at the end of the alley, plucking at the fur of the pink bear. Her eyes focused on nothing and she didn't respond to her name, drooling a bit. She was mumbling over and over.

Malo was long gone, his belly full and the sun rising in the distance. He didn't head home right away, opting to nest in the clock tower for the day. And though the sun couldn't filter inside, the room he napped in was lit with purple and blue.
