Calanoth says you will not fall so it is fine with me Mine. Bolth replied though that didn't stop him from sidling over, putting his front feet on Calanoth's side and peering up at his rider trilling for her to be careful.

I'll watch my step Bolth. C'rci assured him with a smile that turned into a hot blush as Z'fer pulled her up into his arms. It took all her self control not to stammer back when he asked her about her experience ah dragonback.

Fasha, having been scolded enough for the moment only settled on a low hiss, eyes whirling from the curls and waves of her owner's rich red hair.

"Ah~I um." C'rci paused stammering a little as she forced herself to reluctantly detangle herself from Z'fer's arms.

Are you sure you're quite all right Mine? I'm certain Calanoth wouldn't mind me clamoring up after you? Bolt inquired somewhat hopefully though with him being as accident prone as he was they both knew that was a bad idea.

No. I'll be down soon Dear Heart. C'rci answered her feelings echoing the gaping emptiness Bolth felt without his rider's physical presence. Her warmth and solid reassurance soothing the blue like a salve.

"I've only ridden dragonback once when I came to the Weyr. But my brother when his wher was grown would often let me perch and ride him along with a few other whers. It was encouraged so that should someone be injured and need to be carried back the whers would have experience in such matters." She explained moving to set herself down just above Calanoth's injury moving to remove the last few stray bandages. The wound was red and puffy, still fresh from injury, but not nearly as bad as it had been the day before.

"And I'd never leave Bolth on the ground to go flying. He's too kind to mention it, but I know me being away worries him. It's just he's starting to get a bit too big to follow me everywhere." C'rci continued smiling gently down at the steely blue dragonet that peered up at her with whirling eyes.

Calanoth nudges Bolth in a reassuring nuzzle as C'rci was pulled onto his back. ~ I will be careful with Yours. She is safer than even Mine is on my back. ~

Z'fer let her go as she pulled away and Fasha hissed. "Oh hush you." He smirked at the tiny crimson. At C'rci's mention of riding a wher he laughed. "Riding a Wher?! I can't imagine that being anything like riding a dragon. Shards! Riding a runner is probably closer than that!" He didn't mean for it to sound rude. His experiences with Wher's were limited. Being aboard a ship most of his young life he only encountered them on the shore and never actually got very close.

"Ah I can understand that though you know no one would ever drop a passenger and Calanoth here is too big to fall off of!" He slapped a healthy part of the bronze's hide affectionately.

Calanoth rumbled happily, flaring his wings out and taking up most of the cavern space just to show off. He was careful not to jostle the two riders or hit Bolth. This bronze knew what he was about.

Z'fer beamed with pride. "Now THAT'S a dragon! He's larger and better muscled than most of the dragons in this Weyr!" It was always a satisfying experience admiring his own dragon. He took a couple moments before cracking the seal on the numbweed pot and scooping out a glob. He felt his fingers go numb and knew she hadn't skimped and brought an older supply.
"Let's get you patched up and into the sun. Nothing gets the ladies attention like battle wounds!"
Calanoth's eyes whirled again, the thought of being cooed over by a handful of greens not unwelcome. Maybe some of the golds would be out and about as well!

Bolth settled down by the big bronzes side, but still lay with his head tilted so he could look up and watch his rider. Her bright fiery hair acting as a beacon on the bronzes hide as it had so many days ago on the sand. Very well then. Mine can be a bit bold, but she means well. Yours means well too. Bolth replied, it was rather difficult to keep the little blue down for long. His sunny outlook on life almost always seemed to shine through as he was forever the optimist when it came to the world.

Though a tad bit too trusting.

C'rci laughed when Z'fer told the crimson to hush, the little firelizard flaring her wings and chittering scoldingly back at the bronzerider before returning to her sulking. Turning in place her little red body to face her back to the man with a huff as she lashed her tail about her owners neck and closed her eyes deeming to ignore the silly pair of two leggers.

It wasn't until Z'fer began to speak of Whers that C'rci was really jarred out of her mild emotional stupor. With a soft snort she gave him a rather sharp look for his comment, but let it slide when he mentioned not knowing much about Whers.

"Whers are surprisingly graceful. Maybe they can't match a dragon in the air, but on the ground they can move dangerously fast. I've even heard of them outrunning jungle cats in the southern despite the dense vegetation and difficult terrain." C'rci explained shifting over where she sat to make room for Z'fer so the pair of them could slather on the numbweed.

The Whers aren't taking you away Mine. You're Mine. Bolth added, one of the few topics the blue would actively be assertive about. His had said she wasn't going back with the whers and he was gonna be sure of it. She was his after all not theirs.

Breaking out in laughter C'rci shook her head. "No Bolth the whers aren't going to take me away." She called down to her lifemate with a light hearted chuckle. "He's been on a bend about the whers taking me away ever since we went down into the tunnels during the investigation and he got to meet a Wher for the first time." She explained with a grin scooping out some of the numbweed as well to begin carefully slathering it over the bronzes hide.

And though they seem perfectly nice they clearly can't have very good tastes if they didn't grab you as soon as they could. They had their chance. Mine now. Bolth replied chirping curiously as Calanoth spread his wings. The little blue wondering what sort of fun this was decided to mimic him unfurling and spreading his steely blue wings as wide as he could.

Pausing in her work her eyes glittering with both Bolth and her own glee C'rci lifted her hand applauding the two. "Oh yes you're both extremely handsome boys. I'm certain we'll have to beat the greens off with a stick." She called before turning back to her work.

Bolth, somewhat puzzled looked to his elder quirking his head in curiosity. Why would we beat the greens away with those long woody things? He asked Calanoth as C'rci sighed, but decided this was perhaps something best left for male dragons to discuss.

Z'fer was skeptical about the abilities of Wher's but he kept it to himself for now. He still laughed at the thought of wher's stealing C'rci away. "Sorry to tell you Bolth but you're stuck with her!"

Calanoth laughed as well, his chest vibrating as he rumbled. He folded his wings back into place and lifted his head, a look of smug satisfaction on his face. ~ They mean that we'll get a lot of attention from them. More than we want though I don't know how that is possible. ~ In his mind there was never too much of a good thing. He crooned pleasantly as the numbweed took hold, relieving his pain.

Z'fer finished up Calanoth's back and wiped his fingers off on his breeches. The feeling would return soon with the salve gone from them. "Calanoth's good and done. You mind getting my neck?" He lifted his unbound hair from his back, pulling it over his shoulder. He could easily reach his own neck but it was worth a try. Plus he couldn't see how long the scar was itself, all he knew is it had gone beneath the collar of his jacket.

Of course I am stuck with her. She is Mine. The blue replied almost smugly never doubting his choice in riders for a second as he peered up at his and Calanoth's two-legged one.

"Well clearly I was meant more for the Weyr then a wher." C'rci countered with a grin somewhat amused as well by her dragons notion of his cousins stealing her away. As if she'd ever let them, but it was still an amusing thought nonetheless. "I wouldn't trade Bolth for the world."

I don't know. . . Bolth trailed off when Calanoth mentioned the attention of greens thinking of his angry clutchmate. Why would I want them to pay attention to Mine and I anyway? The blue asked having not quite grasped why so many others seemed so interested in greens or the difference really between himself and his siblings.

Something that would probably continue to confuse him for a bit being the only blue of his clutch to impress a girl instead of a boy.

"No I don't mind getting your neck. Here can you pull your shirt off without jarring it? It goes a little ways down your shoulder there and I don't want to risk hurting you by jerking your shirt around." C'rci instructed taking the pot of numbweed from him and setting it to the side on Calanoth backing up a bit and motioning for Z'fer to take a seat in front of her ontop of his big bronze lifemate.

Z'fer blinked at the intrusion of another voice on his thoughts. Dragons didn't often talk to others. He didn't know what to say to the little blue so left it alone. Bolth didn't need reassuring at least.

Calanoth's head tilted. ~ Why wouldn't you want greens attention? It gives you an edge during flights. Not that I need one of course. Still the attention is pleasant.~ Calanoth was always confident in his ability to win flights...whether he actually did or not.

Haha, success. He took his shirt off and sat still in front of her, holding his hair away carefully. "Yeah, Oh certainly. None of us who've Impressed would ever choose anything else after the face. Before Calanoth came along I was about to walk the tables as a Journeyman seacrafter. Had my own ship waiting for me and everything. I almost didn't Stand even when Searched. It was sort of a whim. I was 20 turns and I was sure I wouldn't Impress so what was the harm? I'd get to see a Hatching from a point of view available to few and then go home and continue my life. Little did I know this big guy would be the first out of his shell and go straight for me. He didn't even look at anyone else." Z'fer's tone warmed at the memory, by far the favorite out of all he had. His spare hand caressed the warm bronze hide beneath him. "And while I miss it there's no possible way I could be content with it now. Calanoth is everything to me."

Calanoth's eyes whirled green, basking in the love of His.

Flights? I mean Mine and I wish to take to the air soon, but why would we wish to chase after greens? If anything Mine would prefer to get up into the air before our fellows. Mine can be a bit competitive. Bolth mused somewhat confused by Calanoth's explanation, but too trusting and in awe of the bronze to openly challenge him other then a few careful questions.

"I can understand that. There was a wher clutch coming up soon and I was to be first pick to approach the Queen, but when the Searchrider came I decided to go into town. Mostly just a passing curiosity and my own longing driving me. Still it brought me to my handsome blue and I don't regret a single decision." C'rci replied having to strongly remind herself to concentrate on Z'fer as she would on an injured wher and keep things clinical. Whatever it took not to allow a blush to creep across her cheeks at the sight of his well toned back. The scar indeed would be a long one though right now the wound was still raw and red as C'rci carefully peeled away the bandages.

She was pleased though to find that despite her first haphazard job the Z'fer's neck didn't show any signs of infection and allowing a small smile she began to slather his neck with numbweed. Though a careful observer might note that her expression had lost some of it's business like edge with a softness about her eyes as she carefully tended the older rider. "I wouldn't suggest leaving the bandages off of you just yet. Human hide isn't as tough as dragon hide. I'll rewrap your neck. Maybe give it a day or two more and start leaving the bandages off at night to let the wound get some air. Though I would certainly check with someone more experienced with human patients then I am." C'rci advised him and with a thought sent Fasha from her shoulder. The little crimson chittering a flitted over to where C'rci had set the bandages to grasp a small roll in her little claws. gripping it she pumped her wings to bring it back to drop into her owner's palm before moodily curling back around C'rci's neck. Leaving the weyrling to undo some of the roll and begin wrapping with more care and skill from her rapid practice on the field around Z'fer's neck and shoulder.

Calanoth was confused. Why didn't Bolth udnerstand? It was instinct in all dragons. Calanoth couldn't remember a time when he didn't want a Green's attention. Maybe he was too far from his own weyrling hood to remember...or maybe Blue's were wired differently. Calanoth mentally shrugged it off as another oddity. ~ Mine is also very competitive. We are the best though so it's natural we should have competition. Maybe when you are older you will know why it is nice to have greens attention. ~

Z'fer laughed at his dragon. Egotistical b*****d! Just like his Rider! He was proud of the beast. They WERE the best and nothing could persuade them differently on that point. "A Gold huh? Not bad. I still say a dragon's a better lifemate on the whole.

He grimaced at her assessment of his wound. He lifted his hair up so she could wrap his neck again. "Eh, if your treatment is good enough for Calanoth it's good enough for me. And he's not complaining." He watched as Fasha retrieved the bandages. "I certainly got the raw end of that deal when I won Klah." He lamented. "It'd be dead useful to have one able to do that around. Instead I get a stomach with wings. If she ever clutches keep me in mind why don't you?" When she finished he dropped his hair and stretched his arms overhead, getting a feel for the bandages. With a quick, practiced move he slid from the bronze's back, landing squarely on his feet. He looked back up at C'rci. "Need a hand down or do you think you can manage it?" He stood ready to catch her should she want it.

Seeming more or less satisfied Bolth settled down beside Calanoth tilting his head and chittering up at the crimson. His higher chitters thrumming into a low croon. C'rci hearing him turned her head smiling chirping down in wher speech to her lifemate. "Oh no not a gold wher. Gold wher eggs are always reserved and removed early. I would have had first pick of the clutch though hopefully. Though I far prefer the company of Bolth." She replied grinning lovingly down at the steely blue as she checked the bandages. Satisfied with her work she nodded and lifted a hand to stroke the little crimson's head the little creature crooning with pleasure.

"She's just recently gotten out of the eat everything is sight and sleep all day phase. I've recently gotten her, with some persuasion, to fetch and carry small things. I have to be careful though since she's still building up her strength." C'rci answered him backing up slightly to let him examine her work himself. "If she clutches I'll certainly keep you in mind for an egg."

Watching as she slid off the bronze she peered down at him carefully tucking away the bandages. "I'll manage." C'rci replied with a flash of a smile doing her best to ignore Bolth's concerned bugle at the idea.

Mine!? Mine be careful!
The Blue called up to C'rci, concerned for his ever bold rider, but found soon his concern though welcomed was not needed. Kicking her feet up and pressing one hand down on the gleaming bronze hide she slid down Calanoth's side to land right next to Z'fer. Within seconds Bolth was on her rearing up to stuff his head into her face as the young woman laughed wrapping her arms around his neck and stroking his eyeriders. "See. There. I'm ok Dear Heart." She crooned low to him as Bolth nuzzled her cheek and neck upsetting Fasha as she moved to the edge of C'rci's shoulder chittering scoldingly at the blue who merely puffed at her and for once decided to ignore the little crimson in favor of checking up on his rider.

Are you all right Mine? Hmmm you look fine Mine. So reckless Mine. Why do you feel the need to show off for this two-legger? Bolth inquired crooning right back at C'rci who bent and kissed the tip of the dragonet's nose with a smile.

I'm sorry Bolth. I didn't mean to frighten you. I just don't want Z'fer to think I'm some useless child. C'rci replied only pausing to pat Calanoth's side. "Thank you for looking out for me for Bolth Calanoth."

"You had first pick? They don't choose like dragons do?" More like flits then. He thought. He was certainly glad that he wasn't raised around them. They sounded less and less like admirable creatures. Give him the wind in his face and either sea or sky around him. It was much preferable to spending your life restricted to twilight hours and deep caves.

"I'll pay you for the egg. I don't expect it for free." He stepped back as she slid down. Z'fer walked to the weyrledge and looked about. People and dragons were bustling about their daily business as the sun shone brightly, warming the rocks around them. He returned back inside as the dragon and rider finished their reassurances.

Calanoth turned to look at C'rci, rumbling pleasantly as she patted his side. He slowly stood up and being careful of the humans and Bolth, gave himself a gentle shake. Z'fer's forgotten tunic slid from his back to the ground.

"He says you're welcome and thank you for tending to us." Z'fer had walked up to her side and retrieved his shirt. "I need to change clothes then get him up to the lake. If you want to join us there you're welcome to. Calanoth enjoys your company." He turned another grin on her.

"You get to choose the egg, but that doesn't mean the wher will bond to you though being a wherhandler is approached from a craft perspective so by the time you're ready for a wher your master has decided whether your fit to have one of not." C'rci explained continuing to stroke Bolth gently until the blue settled down stretching with a little yawn.

"Hmm we'll see about the eggs. Fasha is still young and Crimsons don't clutch as often so we've got plenty of time to work things out." She assured him with a smile stepping aside to allow Calanoth to move the weyrling tilting her head back to flash a smile up at the large bronze.

"You're both very welcome and I do believe we might join you down by the lake. Bolth is due for a good wash and oiling and I doubt Fasha will complain as long as she get's her fair share." C'rci replied with a grin bidding her good byes before retreating fro Z'fer's weyr to allow him to dress doing her best to keep the blush from her cheeks.

Over all she'd certainly slate that encounter as a very informative victory.
