Malvin then decided to take a risk. It would either kill or severely injure him. But if it took pain to make Vertaia to come to her senses, then so be it. He concentrated all his powers into a fireball. Then, he threw it at her. It collided with her aura and dissipated. The dissipating particles of Malvin's attack were hurled back at him.
Malvin spat out blood as his power was forced at him. But it created a hole in her aura. Vertaia paused. She let go of the scythe. It clattered to the ground and she fell to her knees, screaming incoherently. Her magic was still wild, but it was less wild than before.
A crown with a heart and a sceptre with a token which looked like the card of Queen of Hearts appeared. The scythe started to turn to dust, which merged with the two items which had appeared. Then, Vertaia fainted. Malvin was close to fainting as well.
Seliyia was shocked by the turn of events.
The Vampire princess spoke. "Let me kill the one named Vertaia,hmmm? This is for you!"
She hurled the red light at him and it healed him of most of his injuries.
Then, the Vampire turned into a red mist, which lingered.

Lorelei gasped.
"Vertaia! Malvin!", the Fae called out to her fainting friends.
As she was about to run towards Vertaia, Yoru had taken a hold of her arm to stop her.
"Think before you act. She could still be a little demented, scythe or no scythe, she's still a danger to you", Yoru said.
"It would be best if we started with him, since it probably is tearing your heart right now", he said and to this Lorelei nodded.
They both went to Malvin to check his wounds.
"I think this potion might do the trick", Lorelei said.

Eldab looked onto the fading red mist where the vampire had disappeared.
"As you wish. The daughter of that abominable, loudmouth redhead shall be yours. But the winged wench's blood will be mine to spill alone", he said.

"Good... my name is Amircal. Those idiots will never see us coming." The vampire princess spoke.

Vertaia was out cold.
Malvin was healed with a bit of potion.
Seliyia was suddenly attacked by a Morbinny.
Malvin's eyes widened and he , weakened as he was, hurled a fireball at it.
It winced and howled.

"Seliyia!", Lorelei called out to her.
"Oh no, she was bit. Just like Verataia...but the only way Vertaia was healed was with a magical stone...", Lorelei told herself.
"Seliyia...will you be alright...is there a potion or something we have or that we can make?", she asked in concern.

Seliyia was bleeding from a wound on her arm. She did not answer. After many long seconds, she did. "My people... can't be bitten. I am old. There is no cure. I... I will die. Tell my grandaughter that I am sorry."
Then, she faded, like a stone which had been blown to dust.
A glowing wand was left on the ground, where Seliyia was.
In her unconscious state, Vertaia cried.

Lorelei's knees weaken, causing her to fall on the ground.
Between sobs she says, "Why...why is this...happening?".
Yoru silently stares at the spot where the woman once stood.
Breaking his silence, he speaks up, "There was nothing we could do...it's simply...fate".
He remembers the choice that Vertaia was given. If he had been as cruel and evil in heart as he was when he first met Lorelei, he would have gladly told her seeing the future was the way to go. Perhaps even enjoyed the thought that she would be haunted continually by the images of all her loved ones dying.
I really have changed, he thought, taking hold of Lorelei hand, trying to comfort her.
