Jasper took a deep breath and leaned closer to the demonic. How am I supposed to guess her name? What if I accidently insult her?! He chewed his lip and looked at her, really at her as a person deeper than her appearance.
She had a free spirit, held down by nothing. She was strong and beautiful. He tried to think of a character from one of the many books he had read that reminded him of her. At least then he could explain where he'd gotten the name from.
Their eyes met and he felt as if he was falling into them. They seemed to shine brighter than the lights around them drawing him deeper, egging on his curiosity, his desire to know more about the soul that hid behind them. He felt like he was falling...falling down...down the rabbit hole.
"Alice," Jasper heard himself whisper the magical name before he could stop himself. He bit his tongue and hoped she was a fan of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

When he moved closer she offered a sly smirk, head tilting to the other side as it rested on her connected hands. She didn't expect much, perhaps the male would get close and ask some name similar to hers. Her eyes flicked to view the rest of the building, mildly amused by the decor. It was appealing, perhaps her apartment would benefit with a style similar to this? Maybe she should go sho-
Oh my.
Her eyes flicked to view him, long lashes casting shadows on her cheeks. Wasn't he a lucky boy? She didn't give away the fact he was correct, instead pursing her lips in a playful pout.
"Alice? Why Alice?" She fluttered her wings playfully, smiling and revealing pearly white teeth. Should she just state he was correct? Or see what other names he sputtered out? No, she was vaguely curious. She had never quite liked her name, mostly because it sounded too pure for a demonic who lacked the ability to accept others into her life. Well, mostly. She had a few exceptions, but not many fit them.
Except, maybe Jasper.

Jasper felt his heart jump into his mouth as he saw her pout. He had guessed wrong! What if she'd somehow never heard of Alice in Wonderland and was thinking of some other character named Alice who's personality didn't fit. A tiny voice in his head told him he was being ridiculous, but he couldn't hear it over the sound of himself panicking and trying to explain himself.
"Uh-gu-I-uh-w-well...y-you know, l-l-like Alice, Alice in W-w-Wonderland." He gave a nervous laugh and started to sink into his seat. He wished the waitress would hurry up with their drinks, Jasper could feel his throat drying up with nerves.

Her head tilted, another smile flicking across her lips. Reaching out, the woman tapped his arm as he began to slink into his seat, horribly amused and yet kind enough to try and calm the poor guy. He liked Alice? And yes, she had heard of the story before, though hadn't read it. She had seen enough movie takes on it to get the gist of the story.
"So you like my name? How sweet, I quite like yours, too." With this being the only hint that he was correct she would willingly give, she glanced back and gave a quiet glance as the waitress arrived. Her smile halted and Alice gave her standard quiet glance, hearing the woman question if they had their order prepared as she set down their beverages. Alice glanced at poor Jasper in a questioning manner.

He looked up as she touched his arm, I was right?! Jasper felt his face heat up,
"I love your n-name. It's b-b-beautiful," he quickly sat up as the waitress returned with their drinks and enquired about what they would like to eat.
"I'll have the chicken chow mien." He glanced at his menu and slid it to her without looking at her. When he turned to Alice, he couldn't help but stutter.
"W-what w-would you l-l-like, Alice?" Jasper felt lightheaded when he said her name. Alice. Alice. Alice. He suddenly feared he might explode from happiness at any second.

She smiled as Jasper seemed to blush. Her eyes lit up with amusement, wings fluttering in mild amusement as he ordered and said her name. She handed her menu to the woman, breaking eye-contact to look at the waitress.
"Char siu." She quietly mused, watching the woman head off towards the back. She flicked her eyes to view Jasper and, with a light hum, she toyed with her fingers. "Beautiful?" She seemed genuinely flattered, head tilting to the side before she suddenly laughed. Was this in his book of his?
"Do tell me that isn't in your book you're writing, right?"

Jasper simply nodded and smiled, but blinked at her in confusion when she mentioned his book. I'm writing a book? It took him a moment to wrack his brains and remember that he had been working on a help book for guys and that Alice had discovered it in a heap on his bed. His face flushed.
"Oh, uh, n-no." He rubbed the back of his neck felt his wings shift behind him. Even if he had been thinking about his book all this time, there was no way he'd be able to put into words when he got home. There were too many feelings involved to just share it with a bunch of strangers who were just probably going to use it to try and get girls in bed.
When they'd finished their meals, he paid and tipped the waiter, who left them with two fortune cookies.
"W-would you l-l-like me to w-walk you h-home?" Jasper played with the small dessert in his hands while he waited for her answer.

She had been fairly amused with the evening. The male had continued to stutter, a thing she would have guessed was permanent had she not heard him speak properly before. She had enjoyed the time, though, and when they had left she had felt a small twinge of disappointment in her stomach.
However, the offer to be walked home was enough. She had pocketed her treat, viewing the male with a short smile.
"Did you know I live very close by?" It was a rhetorical question, though she didn't doubt he'd try and answer. Slipping her arm around him, the bolder female gently tugged him off into the right direction.
"A walk home would be lovely."

"R-really? S-so do I," he instantly wanted to punch himself. Of course she already knows that! You both walked over here from YOUR house! He bit his lip and hoped she didn't hear him, which she obviously did. Jasper's blush worsened when Alice boldly put her arm around him and, after a few deep breaths, he slid his arm around her shoulders and held her close to him as they walked.
He kept his grip slightly relaxed, allowing her to guide him to her place. It was darker now, but the slight breeze helped him to feel more comfortable walking so close to her. He wished he knew were she lived so that he could carry her home. Jasper felt his feathers brush her wings as he stretched his and chewed the inside of his cheek to keep himself from daydreaming about her.

She giggled at his statement, tempted to say she knew already. However, the poor boy was a wreck and had been all night, she might as well be kind enough and look over his mistake. His wings touched hers and, with a click of her tongue, she allowed her wing to tap his lightly. The male was such a wreck, yet it was endearing and honest. When he had first approached her she had despised him, but only briefly. His approach had been too much like the others, and fake. She liked the truer, sillier side to him. One where he wasn't trying to act cool to pick up a girl...
She hadn't quite noticed they were practically at her doorstep until she heard a familiar neighbor laugh from their porch. Blinking, the woman slipped away from him and buzzed the apartments entrance, deciding to stop their evening right here. He seemed sweet, but she wasn't about to entertain the possibility that she'd let him up to the third floor (where her home was) and let him into her house! Nuh-uh!
"So, Jasper." She whirled around to view him, a foot holding open the door. "It'd be a shame if we never saw each other again, mm? And you did get me banned from my favorite place, I doubt we'd naturally meet again..." A tease? What? She was Alice, what more did you expect?

Jasper frowned slightly as their lovely evening ended abruptly. Alice pulled away from him to buzz in and he found himself standing back suddenly feeling awkward. Should he leave? Should he kiss her?
"Oh, s-s-sorry 'b-bout that..." He rubbed his arm nervously as she reminded him about earlier in the day when they'd met. He blinked, never meet again? Jasper felt his shoulders slump as if he were a slowly deflating balloon. He tried to think of a way to get her number. It actually was possible that they could meet again seeing as he knew where she lived, but maybe she didn't want to see him again... Once again the rational part of his brain was being overwhelmed by his desire to just be near Alice again, leaving him a semi emotional wreck as he grasped for excuses to meet up with her again.
"Th-there's an-n-nother library, n-not to f-far from h-here...m-maybe I c-c-could t-take you th-there some t-t-time?" Jasper bounced on his toes nervously, hoping her answer would be 'yes.'

The apology made her giggle, strange eyes warmly sparkling. What a curious man, apologizing for something she wasn't really blaming him for. Calmly, while he seemed to be thinking, she reached into her jacket pocket, fingers curling around a tiny paper and waiting for the male to manage out a sentence. Did he always stutter? It was fine if he did, honestly. But was he so nervous because of her? Aw. How sweet. He was far different from most men, and that was probably why she even went to dinner with him in the first place.
"Oh relax, Jasper." She hummed, leaning forward with her foot still in the door and removing her closed hand from her pocket. Quietly, she slipped her hand into his pocket, leaving the slip of paper when her hand returned to her own person. "Don't loose that jacket, or there won't be a second date to a library."

(( sure!)) Jasper ran his fingers though his hair and tried to stay calm. He wanted to leave a good impression, so she wouldn't walk inside thinking he was a complete dork. He stiffened when she told him to relax, then realized what he did and rolled his shoulders letting his wings fall behind him. For a moment he thought he was actually relaxing, then she leaned forward and stuck her hand in his pocket, leaving something behind. Jasper's face reddened as she left him with a warning and slipped inside.
"N-n-night..." He stuttered to the closing door. As soon as it shut, he turned away and pulled out the small slip of paper. He opened and read it multiple times before slipping it back into his pocket and zipping it shut, ensuring it would not escape. Unable to contain his happiness, Jasper ran down to the sidewalk and leaped into the air. He spread his wings and arms wide and laughed joyfully into the wind as it carried him home.
