Basic Statistics

Name: Nona Winchester
Alias: N/A
Age: Nineteen
DoB: June twenty-eighth
Occupation: SeeD trainee
Weapon(s):
1. Primo Cantus- A simple, well-used instrument with deceptive design. The guitar is a design Nona imagined and something of a musical black box; moving parts have been minimized to make it very durable. It functions as both a weapon and instrument, not even going out of tune for hundreds of bone-crushing swings. It even has an amp built in; there's no point in playing without being heard.
2. Acer Anima- (Obtained later) A new design based on daydreams of its owner during her previous fights; largely similar to its predecessor, but in better condition and with a blade placed on the lower side of the body; Nona handles the weapon easily in both its uses without harming herself.
3. Mugio Cantus- (Obtained later) ???
Biography: Nona was born in Timber two years before it was taken over by Galbadia. Her father was one of many, many resistance fighters who failed to prevent this from occurring, and though he survived the ordeal, he never truly recovered. The man buried himself in the bottle, which led to her parents separating. Nona herself was too young to remember them being together, and grew up without resentment for the event, but her father's behavior was a source of continuous difficulty for the family; her mother buried her frustrations in raising Nona's younger sister, born out of wedlock thanks to a period of desperation. Nona learned to handle responsibility by watching out for her younger sister, but couldn't shake the feeling her mother favored the younger Winchester, pushing her into dancing, which quickly became a point of immense pride for her that eclipsed her first daughter's accomplishments.

Nona was remarkably intelligent, but her excelling in school never earned her the same admiration, and she soon grew apathetic and disconnected. Another distraction arrived in the form of a gift from her father: a guitar, and she was nudged toward learning it from a young age. When she played her first song for him, her father practically cried and couldn't stop hugging her; she finally felt some of the recognition she needed. Years passed, and while her grades gradually slipped, she mastered the guitar, neglecting people as well as academia; the girl was sensitive and being spurned by the other children for her difficulty relating to them (in no small part her own fault) left her uninterested in her peers and their common problems.

She found her only lasting friend when she was thirteen. Nona had developed an ill-advised habit of wandering away from others to practice her guitar; Timber was a crowded place with soldiers all over, and it was hard to find somewhere peaceful to let her mind wander with her music. She was good at slipping away and dealing with meager monsters to find herself a few hours of quiet time. Unfortunately, she decided to do this during a vacation to the southern islands; her mother had never lost her love of the tropical beaches since her own trips there as a child.

A tropical storm kicked up while she had wandered off, and the girl was unable to find her way back to the resort town in the driving wind and rain. Her stubborn efforts to do so only wound up getting her more lost, and she took shelter beneath an undercut cliff. Needing to calm herself down, the girl opened up her guitar case and began to play, unaware of the attention it drew. She kept back the noise of the storm with her music, but drew to her a death claw which had wandered from the ruins of Centra to the island she was staying on. The beast charged from the nearby forest, and the girl had just enough time to realize what was happening before a furious roar drowned out the noise of the death claw's cry and the howling winds. From above her, a taloned paw came down and crushed the death claw into the ground. Where the girl had been ready to flee in fear of the dangerous predator, she was then frozen in terror by the sight of a far worse one: a towering dragon that crawled off the cliff she had been huddled under.

The pair stared at one another, before the girl realized what had been going on. She had taken shelter under the beast's perch, and it must have been there, able to hear the music while she played. She wondered, her legs unable to take her away, if it had sought to silence an interruption. Picking up her guitar, she began to play again, and the dragon listened.

The next day, Nona returned to the village and her distressed family, soaking wet but smiling wide. Soothed by her music, the Guardian Force known as Bahamut had offered to be her companion. When she used this remarkable ability to defend Timber from a powerful monster's attack the next year, it was easily noticed, and she was offered a place in Galbadia Garden, promised that she had the potential to be a renowned member of SeeD. Finding that Bahamut cared only for her music and would not otherwise heed her, she desired to grow stronger and earn the respect of the only creature she considered a worthy friend.

While her instructors did realize the girl had potential, Nona's years in the school were not easy. Her apathy toward her studies and difficulty connecting with her fellows reflected in her performance. She clearly excelled in magic, but this was inexorably tied to her musical ability; she simply could not cast spells without her guitar in-hand. Frustrated with her lack of results, the heads of the Garden decided to transfer her years later to Winhill's burgeoning academy, making her their slacker.

Physical Characteristics

Height: 5'6''
Weight: 140 lbs.
Eye Color: Amber
Hair Color: Red
Hair Style: Shoulder-length, almost always worn loose.
Skin color: White
Distinguishing features: N/A
Attire: Brown dress, black stockings, plain boots.

Mental Characteristics

Strengths: Genius-level capacity to learn and understand, observant, strong-willed.
Weaknesses: Grows bored easily, impatient with people she considers less intelligent than her, chafes at instruction, stubborn.
Goals: Become a renowned SeeD, grow strong enough to impress Bahamut.
Hobbies: Playing guitar, singing (less so than guitar), Triple Triad, monster slaying.
Personality: Nona is unquestionably intelligent, but she doesn't seem like much of an academic. Her preferred reading material is either fiction or tablature, not textbooks. She retains and understands input exceptionally well; her grades suffer more because of negligence on more basic schoolwork. A passionate musician, she is rarely seen without her guitar in the Garden and often wanders away from it to find somewhere quiet to practice. Without any performances at Winhill Garden or a band to speak of, she has little social connection to other students and seems less than interested in making them. She doesn't really fall under a 'party girl' mentality; her fondness for music stems from things other than the social benefits it brings. Instructors have noticed that she seems to suffer difficulty trusting her peers, failing tests that stress teamwork. Though generally disconnected from others, Nona is a caring soul, and hates to see others in pain. The one drive that keeps her in the running as a SeeD candidate is a genuine desire for self-improvement, but this improvement does not overlap much with studying; she wishes to be stronger as a warrior.

Special Characteristics

Level: 10
Hp Rank: 1100
Current Junctions: Bahamut: Vitality, Magic
Natural Affinity: Light
Talent/Skills: Though given formal SeeD training, Nona's style is unquestionably improvised, guided by instinct rather than martial style. Her musically-earned sense of coordination and timing serve her well in combat. Human enemies are often surprised to see her wielding her guitar as a club, and she is athletic enough to wield the heavy weapon without apparent difficulty. Even so, her greatest talent is most certainly her magic, which she harnesses through her playing.
Battle Overview: Nona hesitates to rely on others in battle, though her skills are likely best used from a distance. Her demeanor is typically rather ferocious, happily unleashing magic on enemies from a distance, and those that manage to get close find that she is certainly not unarmed nor afraid of melee. She enjoys the exhileration of combat and showing the strength of her music. She tends to assume that the enemy won't go down unless she takes matters into her own hands, and doesn't expect allies to contribute in a meaningful fashion.
Limit Breaks:
Dragon Concert- Nona breaks into a driving rhythm on her guitar, an intricate and furious melody that calls down the king of dragons. Bahamut comes to this call, but she lacks control over the beast; he will proceed to lay waste to whatever threatens Nona, halting only when she is safe or he has taken too much damage to continue. Nona is able to fight independantly while he is summoned.
(More to come)

Bahamut
Level: 2
HP: 2,000

Strength F(10%) // Magic F(10%) // Vitality F(10%) Speed D(20%) (with their rank)
Ability+ C(+1): Allows Nona to have more than two abilities junctioned at once. Does not use up an ability slot.

Personality
Bahamut is regarded as the king of Guardian Forces and it is not hard to see why. The dragon is proud and stern when calm, and nothing short of calamitous when angered. Bahamut respects power, especially power tempered with wisdom. He is not particularly fond of humans, and typically lends his aid only to those who demonstrate their strength to him. A previously unknown weakness of his is music, allowing Nona Winchester to earn his loyalty – to a point.

. : : Two Long Years : : .

Shortly after the destruction of Winhill Garden, Nona went missing. She turned up two weeks later, still in the process of recovering from an injury which left her face heavily scarred. She joined in the efforts to re-establish contact between the scattered Winhill agents. The efforts of Lloyd Nipal, Riyel Vicaria and herself were integral to pulling the damaged group back together. All of them recognized that the scattered remnants of Winhill were not enough to mount a defense against Edea. Nona rapidly became the logistics head of the effort, and it was her cunning which made the group a genuine threat at its weakest.

Nona gave the Unbroken direction as it grew, keeping it functional and guiding its aggression. The group struck out at military targets with mixed guerrilla and terrorist tactics, making heavy use of explosives and surprise. Among the foundations of the movement were the SeeD operatives and cadets who survived Winhill’s bombing and were rescued from D-District Prison, and their superior training was a substantial factor to keeping the group alive.

Over a year ago, Nona pieced together a number of clues regarding strange phenomena in Timber. While under Galbadian pursuit, she confirmed her hypothesis, coming upon the birthing ground of a Guardian Force. The odd little spirit came properly into being in Nona’s presence and promptly latched on to her, calling itself a Moogle. She has since dubbed it Moogen. The infantile GF has grown severely attached to Nona, and though it lacks direct combat ability, it has an extraordinary talent for mechanical and chemical pursuits, both of which it has shared with its keeper.

Nona has scarcely had a day of rest in two years. She has driven herself restlessly to undermining Edea. In addition to coordinating and leading the Unbroken, she has studied heavily to expand her skills, particularly in fields of demolitions, engineering, computer science, tactics, and magical and GF theory. She’s put each of these to excellent use already. Although it’s galled her to have to spend less time on the front lines, Nona remains the soul of the Unbroken.

Occupation: Self-employed
Weapon(s):
Sou-Ho’s Sword- A fine katana that used to belong to one of her instructors. Its most notable ornamentation is a red tassel extending from the pommel.
Derringer- A petit but infinitely concealable handgun. Nona keeps it strapped to her thigh most of the time.

Over the past two years, Nona has acquired considerable skill in several subjects through study and practice building up the Unbroken. Her best fields are engineering, chemistry, computer science, magical and GF theory, and tactics.
Battle Overview: Nona has grown more used to relying on partners in combat. She coordinates well with others when she gives a battle plan. She will typically remain at a distance, unleashing magic or resorting to less conventional tactics. If an enemy closes, she engages fiercely with her sword, but she never keeps things to a stand-up fight.
Limit Breaks:
Apotheosis: ((You'll see, one hopes)

Bahamut
Level: 4
HP: 4,000
Attack: Physical attacks, relevant spells. Bahamut rends, tears and crushes with frightening strength, and kicks up buffeting winds with his wings. His magic is top-tier and hits hard; Thundaga, Aeroga, and Stop.
Final Attack: Mega Flare- Bahamut unleashes a blast of energy from his mouth that causes enormous damage to all in its path.
Element: None

Note: Bahamut gains 25% resistance to gravity at level 9, 50% resistance at level 10.

Personality
Bahamut is regarded as the king of Guardian Forces and it is not hard to see why. Large even for large GFs, armored and powerfully built. The dragon is proud and stern when calm, and nothing short of calamitous when angered. Bahamut respects power, especially power tempered with wisdom. He is not particularly fond of humans, and typically lends his aid only to those who demonstrate their strength to him. Moogen
Level: 2
HP: 500
Attack: Moogen is painfully weak; his best attack amounts to swinging a wrench or similar object at an assailant. He is very good at fixing and making things, though.
Final Attack: None. Moogen doesn’t have the strength yet to pour out the usual GF onslaught of power that heralds a de-summoning. However, his magical and mechanical affinities offer an interesting effect; with or without him summoned, Nona can freely make use of a Scan effect with casual ease.
Element: None
Junction/Skills:
Magic D(30%)
Expend C(3x-2): Use fewer spells when under the effects of Double and Triple (Presently uses only one spell when Double-casting and two spells when Triple-casting).

Personality
Moogen is an inquisitive, rather innocent little creature. When summoned, his curiosity is painfully apparent as he tinkers with machines (sometimes improving them, sometimes...not), opens containers (regardless of labels), and examines animals (regardless of their relative size or temperament). The moogle is good-natured even if not all of his ventures end up helping. Moogen is very fond of machines and technology in general and possesses an instinctive understanding of these things which enables him to fix or alter many things on a whim. Opportunities to tinker and create make him enormously happy. The infant GF has also developed a firm fixation on Nona Winchester, ceaselessly loyal to her.

Riyel Vicaria: Riyel is one of the few people Nona believes she can rely on in a pinch. Deeper feelings on her part are harder to sort out to outsiders.
Lloyd Nipal: Nona’s resentment of Lloyd seems to have leveled off, if not declined. Lloyd’s energetic ways still obviously grate on her, but she rarely yells at him. When it comes to the Unbroken, she doesn’t let their difficulties get in the way of unity.
Salem Everett: We'll see.
