Roll a Nine: Seashore Field: Split down the middle between land and sea, this field compliments land and water type pokemon. On the west end of the field is the land section: fine grained sand gradually slopes downward to meet the salt water on the east end of the battleground. A single palm tree wavers lightly in the breeze while shells are scattered in random places in and on the sand. In the water half of the battleground, the water laps at the sand much like at a real beach; when it retracts it leaves behind strands of seaweed and pieces of coral. Both are found under the water, offering shelter for water-types (or those who can hold their breath for great periods of times). This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to GROUND and WATER type attacks.

Lizzie wished that the beaches around here were as nice as this one. Even though it was all artificial, the sand and water looked so welcoming. But this was a battle, not a vacation. She reigned her thoughts in and pulled out the Pokeball containing her Umbreon.
"Come on out Portal!" She said as she released her Pokemon. Portal landed on the sand, sending up dust clouds as she did so. She too wished that she could relax on this beach but that would just invite a defeat.

Flint entered the stadium and smiled slightly upon seeing the field. He looked across and saw their opponent. Well, no use wasting any time. He pulled out a pokeball and released Maya " do your best!" he called and Maya chirred in response, fur fluffing up.

This field invited relaxation, but Maya would waste no time. Gathering her energy she shot a bolt of thunder at Portal. With luck her opponent would become paralyzed.

It was easy for Portal to sense an electric attack since the static build up made her fur stand on its end. She jumped to the side to avoid the Thunder and didn't even get shocked by a stray spark for her efforts.
Lizzie noticed that the attack wasn't as powerful as it should be, though the Emolga still built up a lot of electricity to use it. Was it trying to paralyze her instead? She won't let that happen! "Portal, use Confuse Ray!"
The Umbreon whirled around to face Maya, kicking up even more sand. She launched a rapidly flashing orb of light that was dizzying for even her to look at.

Flint grimaced and squinted his eyes against the light. " Maya try paralyzing it again!" their best chance at victory was to incapacitate the opponent. Maya stumbled a bit, she shook her head trying to clear it and shot off the attack.

This time Portal couldn't move fast enough to dodge the attack. The peal of lightning struck her and although it didn't hurt much, her muscles refused to move half the time she wanted them to. The Umbreon managed to hiss at Maya but Lizzie didn't mind the setback as much. Portal had a move that could turn this bad luck around and she was planning to use it.
"Facade!"
The Umbreon, though still moving sluggishly, lunged at her opponent, adding in extra force caused by her paralysis.
