Myopia stepped from a tailor's shop onto the street, a kerchief folded in a triangle shape held by the corners between two fingers of each hand. His City Person nature drained the pale yellow color of the flax from the cloth, though it was not a dramatic change; the real decoration came from a bit of lace around the edges. Glancing up and down the street, the moth-man stepped to one side of the door to avoid blocking it, and paused to untie his usual necktie and replacing it with his new adornment.

Once he had the ornate knot finished off, he adjusted the fall of lace at his throat and wound his other tie around one hand to fold it, then tucked it away in a pocket. Beaming at how fabulous he now felt, Myopia strutted towards one of his favorite cafes. How convenient that it was just now time for lunch, and he had something fashionable and new to show off! ... If nothing else, the establishment would be crowded enough that the moth-man could ensure that few, if any others had jumped in on his new lace-kerchief statement. He would make it a trend - but once it became one, then of course he could not continue wearing his own.

That would be weeks off, though, with any luck.

"Table for one, please," he declared as he approached the host at the cafe.

Deliver of tea leaves and coffee beans, freshly dried and roasted, ready for brew. The aroma alone made such deliveries of his employers worth it, but the fact that he usually got to sample them before they hit the shelves? Icing on the cake. He'd just gotten done delivering the last shipment of the day and this cafe was one of his favorite places to deliver last. The simple reason being? They gave him not only the first cup, but a very nice petit four to go with it, all for free. To him, a very acceptable payment for services rendered.

Watching city people come and go, (and noticing the rather new trend of feathers! In hats!), Ashel debated about taking one of his feathers and putting it in his hair. He'd probably lose it and... he had them from his time in the forest. He liked them. And no amount of money would make him part with it willingly. In that small way, he was stubborn. One man came in not sporting feathers or a hat at all. Feelers much like the fine metallic bits on the clockwork bugs and pictures he saw adorned his head. He also had a very lovely lace tie. He- "Oh well it's not very enjoyable to have tea or coffee by oneself is it?" He spoke up without thinking. "You can join me if you like, the table it big enough for two."

Feathers were always interesting, since only the Book Children could provide them, but the fact that wearing them appeared to have become a fad incensed the lamplighter. Things like that were deserving of their rarity! It was a travesty to cheapen something as interesting as the feather by giving one to every nobody on the street who claimed to be a dandy.

Having thusly stumbled upon the target of his next article, Myopia was of a mind to write, but, at the sudden offering of a Book Child to join him, he decided that perhaps taking his lunch alone was, indeed, not very enjoyable.

And the stranger had volunteered himself.

"Why, certainly, if I may," the moth-man replied, his grin returning to punctuate letters that bore the confidence of someone greeting an old friend. He moved over to join the Book Child, eying him and taking note of his head adornments and the cluster of feathers at his shoulder. Then, stopping a familiar but still comfortable distance away, the lamplighter extended his hand.

"I am Myopia. And who might you be, good sir?"
