.....alone again.....
Shinunai wandered the border of the Xa'Los packlands, alone again. She couldn't fathom where exactly her ghostly companion had disappeared to, but the loneliness hurt more than her irreparably damaged body. She hoped she might run into someone else...but...who would accept a zombie?

Having her soul intact despite the state of her body was all well and good, but it left one open to all kinds of unpleasant feelings. She seemed as cold as the frosted ground that snapped and crackled under her feet. Shinunai longed for what she had lost. Her mind began to wander back, to the scenario she'd been over so many times before.

[ x ]Seotun calmly walked in the pack's forest as he scouted for prey and intruders. He normally wouldn't be so far from the mass of the pack- he was the Storyteller after all, aged and used to serving another role.

[ x ]However, that didn't stop him from volunteering for the job and opting to go alone. There are times when he needed his privacy... No matter how much he had become accustomed to the pack, and no matter how much he trusted (some) of the members, he could never feel as if he belonged. He was an introvert, rather spending his time alone in thought rather than accompanying others.

[ x ]His breath froze in the air as he huffed. He was definitely too old for doing things like scouting; his joints were aching from the cold as well. Seotun walked over to a patch of dry dirt, free of snow and mostly free of ice to sit down. Then, he noticed the noise, his body stiffening. He had been inattentive, not noticing the cracking of ice as another creature—heavy enough to be another Ikal— was moving across the icy ground.

[ x ]Seotun stood ready, his ears perked and crouching down behind a tree to readily defend himself or plan an escape. He gave no sign giving away his presence—he couldn't take on a young Alchemist rogue at his age. He needed the element of surprise... or a safe time to flee to alert the pack.

Shinunai popped out of the brush, nearly not noticing Seotun. She was too involved in her own thoughts. When she did see him, she jumped. "Oops! Hello!" She said automatically, before remembering how she looked. And she must smell terrible - most of her flesh was in a perpetually rotten state. "I um...apologize for my appearance."

[ x ]When the strange Ikal approached, Seotun faked an attack, snapping at the female. He did not sneer or voice his aggression, but kept his body alert. So much for his plan on escaping before the Ikal saw him. It was strange how she had seen him so easily even though he hid quickly, away from the noise that the Ikal was creating by walking on the frozen ground.

[ x ]From his stance, Seotun peered at the female noticing her rotting body, and took a small half-step back. Alchemist magic. This time he did sneer at the stranger. "Who are you?" He said curtly, demanding a response.

Shinunai barely registered a flash of sorrow. She was becoming accustomed to this treatment. Still, it seemed worth a try to make friends with the suspicious Ikal male.
"I'm Shinunai. I'm - I'm sorry if I scared you. I seem to have that effect." She sounded remorseful, lonely. "I certainly don't want to hurt anyone..." It was a small miracle she could speak clearly with her mangled mouth, but her voice was clear. She lowered her head and started to back away. Who would want her? The only friend she had acquired since the transformation was a ghost, and even he appeared to have vanished.
"Never mind. I've had enough of heartbreak." Shinu mumbled, a note of bitterness finding her way into the sadness. "I give up."

[ x ]Seotun looked at the female with cold calculating eyes. She was not the most gruesome thing he has seen; he had lived with the Alchemist for a good part of his life. It was why he knew that it was his magic that had changed this Ikal. He had assumed that she was an Alchemist Rogue; she was far too timid for that, at least outwardly. It couls still be a trap.

[ x ]"Where does your allegiance lie Shinunai?" His voice was questioning, yet less cold as he spoke. It was not wise to assume things too quickly. "Are you rogue? Lone? Pack?"

Shinu looked a bit befuddled. She didn't quite know. "I was...I was in a pack...before this happened...but I've been on my own a while now. What's a rogue?" She looked at the ground. "Ah, I'm sorry. There's still a lot I don't know about....about this place."

[ x ]The Ikal before him looked lost; too lost for a prideful Rogue to lower himself to. "A pack? Which pack?" His voice retained his sharpness from before. Not many Ikals would not know what an Alchemist Rogue is. They're too dangerous to be ignorant of them, especially if one was in a pack.

[ x ]"Where do you come from?"

"From...home. That's all I know to call it." She dared to close her eyes; it helped her to think back. "I guess I don't remember all that much about it. What I do remember is a portal - and my friend and - maybe I'd better start from the beginning." Shinu took a moment and composed herself. "I remember being ripped through a portal...very suddenly. No warning at all. My friend had been by my side at the time, and I looked over...he..." she choked back a tear, willing herself not to cry. She couldn't risk looking quite that weak, by her reckoning. "He was shredded, much like I am now. I think the portal did it. He was...bleeding so bad...and I don't think he could breathe...I looked to the first being I saw and cried for help...I remember it saying that it could transfer the wounds to me, but that I'd be doomed to suffer them until someone ends my life." She paused for a moment, letting the memories drop in intensity somewhat. They were playing like a movie in her head. "I told it that was okay...and a terrible pain went through me...my friend looked at me, totally shocked....and I ran...like I could get away...my whole body was screaming at me to get away from the pain...but I couldn't. I can't. I live with it still and now I'm here." She looked up. "At least he's okay now...and my soul is still intact...but now I'm here. And I don't know what to do."
