So, I have graves disease. Before the meds I was losing weight rapidly. I actually got down to 108 pounds, and I'm 5'5" which means that's extremely skinny. Well, since being put on methimazole my weight skyrocketed. I'm not fat, but I feel fat and would do just about anything to lose weight. (I'm too embarassed to say what my weight is now). I have changed my diet within the last couple of weeks, and I only eat sweets once or twice a week. I snack mostly on dried fruits and nuts. I exercise for about thirty minutes to an hour once or twice a week. I feel like the methimazole is killing any hopes of weight loss, because when I weight (which I try not to do too much, I either haven't lost anything or worse...I'VE GAINED! I've asked my doctor what I could do, but all he says is I need to change my diet. I've done this, and nothing has changed. Is there anyone here with knowledge of methimazole? Is there anyone who has had to take it? How did you lose weight if you did? Please help. My self confidence is being killed.
