Title of Story: Condemned In The Dark
Author:Jim Freeman
Genre:Romantic Horror
[I have planned to write this story then have it published. It's in the works as of now, but obviously not finished. Below I'll explain what it is about, then provide a sample.]

The story is about a couple who had just been married, the husband is Albert Greyhound and his wife, Charlotte. The couple embarked on their trip for their honeymoon. They are on their way to a luxury hotel on a small island, named Scarlight Isle, that is connected to the state of Maine by a large bridge. (Kinda like Brooklyn Bridge)
The two arrive, and they are having the time of their lives the very first night that they are there, they enjoy the beautiful sunset together, and afterwards, hop into bed, eagerly awaiting the next day. But what Albert woke up to not much later, was not a clumsy janitor, or his wife, but rather a horrifying dream. He dreamt of evil, possessed people, their eyes nothing but a pure pitch black hue. He woke to find that his wife was not with him in bed, and there were no lights, he thought it must have been a power outage or something. He went to check if the sun was up, but when he opened the curtains of the door to the balcony, it was sealed off by a solid wall of white concrete. He found a nightstick, and slipped into normal clothing to search for his wife, Charlotte. But before he went through the door to the hall, a shadow, with glowing green eyes, shot from the door, and attacked Albert. Albert successfully defeated the shadow, only to find that it was no longer a shadow, but a human body, with it's eyes wide open, but empty with darkness, nothing but black was in the person's eyes, as if it was trapped in Limbo. Now Albert faces something ominous, something that stands between him, his wife, and freedom. Using whatever he can find, Albert must battle his way through the evil, rescue his wife, and break free of the darkness that imprisons him in the hotel, before he is forever, Condemned.

Chapter four: Darkness and Shotguns

I walked quickly, but cautiously through the doors of the kitchen after just defeating the butcher, and claiming his cleaver. When I exited through the doors, I aimed my nightstick around the large cafeteria, keeping an eye out for anymore of the shadows. There must have been an easier way to deal with these things, I thought to myself. I laid back against the wall for a moment to catch my breathe, and quickly re-think where to look for Charlotte next. Suddenly, the floor began to quake violently, forcing me to the ground on my knees. Then, after a few moments, the shockwave ceased, and all was silent. But before I knew it, a large pitch black hole opened in the ceiling, spewing out a dark cloud, and filling the room with a harsh wind. When the wind stopped, I looked back up, and there appeared yet another shadowy figure, however, it was different than the ones I previously encountered. This figure had a clear face, and not glowing eyes. It gave me a wicked smile, and began to speak. "So Albert Greyhound, how are the accommodations?" he asked sarcastically. He must have been the one behind all this. "Where is my wife!?" I bellowed at him in rage. "Not to worry, she's right here" he answered, snapping his fingers. An large orb appeared, and there inside, was Charlotte. "Albert!" she cried out. "Charlotte!" I yelled in relief that she was alright. I ran to her, but a fierce wind blew again, this time, throwing me to the wall. "Now now, hold on, if you want her, you'll have to make your way to the top of this hotel." he said as he rose into the air. "Give her back!" I shouted. He simply just smiled and snapped his fingers again, then disappeared with my wife. Two more shadows burst through the kitchen doors, they were in the forms of beasts, or bloodhounds. I began to sprint, praying for something to be in the security room in the next room down the hall. The shadowy beasts began to gain on me, my heart pounding insanely. I burst through the door and to my wish, I spotted a revolver lying on the desk. I seized it instantly, then turned, and bolted two bullets into each of the beast's heads. They slumped to the ground, and the evil dissipated from the creatures, revealing two dogs, their eyes too, pitch black and empty.

[Hope you enjoyed it. Notice that the first letter of the chapter title matches the fourth one in the title? That's right, each chapter starts with the letter corresponding to the number that corresponds to the number of the letter in the title.] Please rate and comment!

As for the story, I'm an expert at horror fiction. I did not read the chapter extract, since I like to read it beginning to end, not just smack in the middle. But the summary and the plot line, I really like. It is a very unique mixture of dream world reality, in which the readers can't tell whether it's a dream or reality, or both mixed into one. The idea for the things he is facing is bluntly new, something I have never really seen before and the novelty of it is just finger-flexing (to get hold of the story and read it.)

I definitely give you a thumbs up and hope to see your book on the shelves one day.
