"Then perhaps you shouldn't be in command of the Hangar. While you have a point, so do they. Who do you think prevents the enemy from taking this base? WHo do you think gives you a reason to actually have a job. Rivalry in the service is expected, even encouraged, as it promotes
esprit de corps. If you have a problem with it, then I'll gladly accept your resignation."
He looked up at the clock, then back at her.
"No, you may not. You're talking to your commander. Both current, and incoming. THere's no emergency. Your soldiers cann hold down the fort without you. You're an officer, not an NCO. You're not supposed to hover. That's another reason I called you in here. I've received complaints about you stepping on the toes of NCOs. Your job is not to be everything, making everything your business. As an officer, you let your NCos handle the small things. They micromanage."
He leaned back, gazing right into her eyes.
"The reason this never came to light, is Brigadier Weston prefers to favor officers. I favor Discipline. This is the military, not a schoolyard. You need to realize you can't always have your way. You need to learn to turn the other cheek."
