There were several soquili that Hayagriva didn't recognize among the crowd. He wondered if he should question them and ask where they came from and what brought them here. Some might be friends of Padmapani members, or far flung branches of the Miakoda herd he hadn't met. What if one wasn't? Wasn't it his job to make sure that none of the strangers were creeping into their midst to do yet more damage to their shattered herd?
Haya couldn't bring himself to move. His hooves felt like they were rooted to the ground there by the pyre. There was even a strange elder who arrived with a delegation. With her, Haya, and Maion, that made three. His parents were truly honored to have so many elders seeing them off, but that thought brought him no cheer.
Looking almost lost among the crowd was a unicorn, black with bright green and spotted like a cat. Haya made no move to acknowledge him until he stood before him, questioning.
"Yes, I am the Padmapani's protector." No longer was he the protector heir. Scythe was gone, and the job was his now.

Shrivatsa wondered if she should know who the blue elder with the red dreadlocks was. Despite her new position of power, she still felt humbled by being in the presence of one such as her. The elder's accent was strange to her, but she listened closely and the message of sympathy and support was easy enough to understand. She even called her a sister... Shrivatsa liked the warm-hearted mare even though they had barely met. "Thank you," she murmured after her as she left.
Her eyes pricked with tears as Imogen and Dayunsi said their piece. The Padmapani weren't alone. That's what the WillowGlen delegation said to her. Both they and the Miakoda herd supported Padmapani without anyone ever asking for it. Was this the gift that Vara had meant to give her when she declared her alpha? She had spent her life feeling so alone, but now they were reaching out to her...
"Thank you very much for the gift," she told both of them. How had they even found out that she was a healer? "There are some I don't know," she admitted. Curiosity bloomed through her sadness and she looked at them with interest. "I'd also like to know how you grew them, if you didn't mind." No one in the Padmapani understood the art of farming, so they could truly benefit from the WillowGlen friendship.

His brother was hurting so badly, it was so strange to understand this and yet not be able to do a thing to help it. Someone else was heading toward them, and for once he did manage a smile. "There's the other love of my life," he stepped forward to bump his head against his sister's and nuzzle her. He shot a brief look at the stallion, but now wasn't the time to be interrogating strange stallions. "I've missed you. I'm.. I'm sorry I haven't been around. It will change.. I swear it."
Maybe it was time to rethink having his family so far away. Would it kill him to get to know those of his own blood? Perhaps he would have a talk with Haya later on...

With the arrival of Aria and Felinus, Adagio found herself literally surrounded by her beloved family. "Felinus," she murmured. She was now pressed between him and Vivace, surrounded by warmth and love. "Aria," she said her older sister's name and thanked the gods that she still had so much family left to love. She couldn't stop the tears from flowing with that realization of emotion.
"I'm so glad... glad... everyone is here," she cried softly. She turned her head inwards and hid her face in the billow of Felinus' mane. Her tears wet the side of his neck. "Bodhi would have been g-glad to know..." She gave a quiet sob. "She'd be glad to know that... that... she was remembered like this." Bodhi had been a beautiful mare and loved attention. Adagio imagined that she was looking down in spirit and happy to see that so many people had loved her. She would have liked the crowd at her funeral. Adagio wished she could hear Bodhi's smug laughter at all the fuss over her. Even the thought of it set her heart to breaking all over agian.

Once Auva was settled on his back he stood carefully, his wings folding around her, keeping her close and warm. Looking round and nuzzling the top of her head before looking at the other two and then to Drashi who had surprised him a little with his offer, but then he only knew parts of Drashi's story and he could only empathise at the hurt he kept inside him.
Nuzzling the top of Zaniah's head and then leaning a little lower to give her a hug. "Its ok, you can walk if you want, how about you walk with your momma or your aunt? Or whoever you want, just stay in the middle of the group ok bubbles?" He was happy to let Zaniah do what she wanted as long as she was safe, snuggling her some more before lifting his head, planting a kiss on the bridge of her nose, the closest to her forehead he could get thanks to the horn. Straightening he sighed softly.
Finding himself giving Drashi a slightly amused look as Heze settled on his back and then snuggled into him. His expression softening as he watched his eldest relax, tohugh part of him felt a pang of jealousy that she had curled up on Drashi so contentedly. But he brushed that off, he couldn't have them all on his back any more and he would rather she be safe and happy with a trusted friend, a brother really than to be uncomfortable and timid. But then his little champ had never been timid.
Looking round at his father and sister as he stood with the others. "Walk back with us, it would be good if you could stay, paly with the children, just visit for a while..." Not adding for them to stay as long as they liked, he hoped that they knew that they were always welcome, wanting his family to have more time with his children. Looking round finally, seeing Eden and Crown walking closer, nodding and looking to Drashi and Maion, it seeming everyone was set and ready to go, that is if Zaniah really did want to walk. Looking down at her again, seeing what she was going to do.
Looking at her sister and her outburst then to Auva as she gets kissed on the cheek, biting her lip and looking from her father who was now standing, to her mother, to Zaniah who was sad and angry. Finally looking at Drashi, edging closer to whisper softly to him. "Really??" Blinking at the big white angeni that was offering her a ride. Giving him an unsure smile, looking at Zaniah again biting her lip, feeling bad to leave her sister walking, but she got to ride Drashi! Giving him a wonky smile, her feelings still all over the place but nodding, butting her little nose against him. "Thank you Drashi" Carefully moving round him, mindful of his wings as she settles on his back, nuzzling into his mane, hiding a little, taking comfort in being close and protected by him, hiccuping a little as she relaxes from the turmoil of her feelings and crying.
Eden went bright pink before nodding, she and Orion weren't at that stage yet despite being mates. Theirs was an odd relationship but they took their own time and be damned what anyone else said. but her brother saying that made the usually distant mare go very pink indeed. Saying nothing, just falling into step with her brother, giving him a gentle nuzzle before settling into a pace with him. Looking up as they approached the others, thinking it would be nice to get home away from the grief and the tension.

Maion took the lead for his little group, wanting to ensure that the path was save before leading them down it. All the while he thought of the disaster that had happened here.. innocent lives had been stripped from the world... and for what purpose? None. That was the cruelty of the situation. Nothing could compare to the senslessness of these deaths.... if the bodies had been eaten, used for some sort of food perhaps he could have understood. But this was simply about making a pont, about showing who was stronger.
He looked to the sky, may Alignak give him the strength he needed in the days and years ahead.
Auva snuggled into her father, content to be close and cherished to him. To feel safe. It was something she would never take advantage of again.... she was sure she would have nightmares... see that beast in her dreams, feel the fear ripple through her body as if it was happening again. Auva was also sure she would see the cold and near heartless eyes of the stallion that had slammed into her as if she was worthless. She knew nothing about him except to learn that he had been looking for his sister... the mare that did her best to heal Auva... still... if she never saw him again she feared it would be too soon.
Drashi saw the joy flash into Heze's eyes the moment before she accepted, yet as he watched Zaniah walk away he couldn't help but feel guilty. Was there some significance in his actions and hers? Had she somehow been offended that he had not extended his request to whomever wished to accept it? Concern furrowed his brow, and he knew he needed to apologise to the young headstrong mare... but he would do that later, bring her something as a treat in an effort to cheer her up.
As far as Drashi was concerned every foal needed love and attention. Deserved to be held and loved. But most of all protected. And although these three children were not his by blood he would protect them as if they were.
He followed the group, the precious cargo of Heze safetly snuggled onto his back... still his movements were slow and dilberate in the hope that she would not fall or get injuried. Drashi remained silent, something he was sure everyone was used to see, still right now he simply didn't want to answer any questions, well aware that everyone had found his actions... curious.
Chandra smiled at Zaniah and was actually rather shocked when she rejected everyone to walk on her own... perhaps it was for the best? She didn't feel worthy of being anyone's piggyback at the moment, blaiming herself entirely for Auva's injuries. Thank the Moon they hadn't been worst.
She smiled at little Zaniah just before she huffed and stormed off, would things ever be right between her and her family again? She hoped so. She truely did. Turning to Heze upon Drashi's back she couldn't help but smile. Her stoic brother doing his part, be it protecting them from danger or offering his back when he feared no one else would... always so thoughtful. Finally her eyes moved towards her mate and youngest, Auva. She loved them all so much... she couldn't bare the thought of losing any of them.
Slowly her hooves left the ground as she followed the group, she sped up just enough to ensure she wasn't at the rear of the group, knowing too well that Sonnet and her father, Drashi as well she supposed, wouldn't want her there given when had happened so recently, with it all fresh in everyones mind it would taint everyones words and actions for many Moons to come.
Crown nuzzled his sister back in return as they joined the group, "We shall take the rear," He called to Drashi, slowing his steps so that the others all went before him and Eden, then with her by his side he started home. Right now he only trusted Eden next to him... even if he wasn't the strongest protector... wasn't the fastest... or the most intelligent... but he was determined to keep her safe, to keep them all safe. He would one day prove himself and earn his place a proud protector of the herd.... he would! He will soon show them all!
Crown Cullen was a force not to be messed with. His mind wanted to dift to images of valor and bravery but he forced them away. He needed to stay focused, concentrate on his goal. That was why he continually scanned the trees and paths that surrounded them. He would help get the group home safe.

Akuba met his son's gaze, he did not feel he should be there, he felt just as out of place as Sym, but he didn't let those thoughts over take him ( although it did make him look a bit stiff or robotic at times). He nodded once,"we will", Sonnet's request seemed more of a command but Akuba overlooked this. He knew that Sonnet was stressed out about the situation.
Akuba wasn't used to being in the middle of a huddle or a crowd of soquili, it'd always made him feel ill at ease because he preferred his company to be few or to walk by himself. Even in the presence of family he liked some space as he still felt out of place ing the middle of a crowd. However, he let this also pass and let Maion do his thing at the front and he watched Eden and Crown enclose the back of the group.
Akuba decided to walk on one of the outside side of the group and inhaled deeply, soon an exhale followed equally as long. Sym had always felt that she'd missed out of so much when it came to Sonnet ever since he left to have his own life and this proved it. She was worried he'd out grown her. She looked at Heze and thought,'oh...I wonder who that determination comes from?' She smiled weakly at her father and stuck closely by his side. As she walked she kept her gaze down, shyness always overtook her. 'So this is family.'
She just wanted to be at home with Ivory, but she wasn't even sure he'd come back, she felt guilty for only thinking of him and it showed in her face. She felt fed up. "I'll walk with momma",she said flatly, her words almost faltered before they could escape. Her parents cared so much for her and she wouldn't've ever've wanted to loose them. The thought made her cry and a lone tear rolled down her cheek. Her vision was blurry and filled with tears but she refused to blink because she did not want anymore tears. Her eyes flashed at her mother with a wild determination to be strong and stand on her own two feet. She had tried her best to practice making decisions and sticking to them. This was one of them. "Lets go...I'm sorry I can't be on your back. I'd prefer to walk....I'm sorry",she knew her mum would probably much rather feel the warmth and weight of her daughter on her back as that would tell her she's safe. Part of her innocence was trying to be big and all grown up. She hopped she hadn't made her mum feel bad. Inside she was fuming.

"Yes, you should stay," said Karma to Mel, his voice empty. "There are many here that you should meet." There were undoubtedly countless Padmapani that had joined or been born since Melanthios had lived near. Generations, even. Looking at the pyre, Karma wondered. How many more Padmapani would be born before he too met his demise and followed his family?
"Kahili too. You should always know your family... before... before it's too late." He had never thought he'd live to see one of his children die, or one of his grandchildren. If only he could have spent more time with them. If only he could have learned to fight so he could have defended them. It was all too little too late.

Elegy was the very last to arrive, the funeral pyre's were starting to die as she shifted closer staying within the hiding embrace of the shadows. The last dieing flickers danced off the scales along her back, and panes of ice down her neck and around her eyes. Those eyes, so soft blue were as cold as that ice they showed not the turmoil of emotion roiling in her gut. Her parents she loathed, none more than her father, but this wasn't her father's funeral, this was her grandfather, her great grandfather, great grandmother, and aunt's funeral. Still, she stood at the very back, feeling more like an outsider than part of her own family, letting a breeze tainted with the smell of smoke gently blow her mane. The dieing fire's light dancing patterns across her coat. Despite the small swell of hopeful feelings buffeting her from the gathered group pf Soquili around her, there was no hope for Elegy. The only ones that may have ever accepted her were gone snuffed out like a spark in the night.

Roniel Targaryen Shrivatsa wondered if she should know who the blue elder with the red dreadlocks was. Despite her new position of power, she still felt humbled by being in the presence of one such as her. No one in the Padmapani understood the art of farming, so they could truly benefit from the WillowGlen friendship. Immi glanced towards the Troll with a knowing glance before nudging Dayunsi to the foreground. "Day is the one who keeps the flowers and herbs growing in our glades. Even Malis prefers his herbs to the ones she grows though her knowledge of the healing herbs sometimes can surpass his own." Imogen glowed with pride as she spoke of her mate, it was obvious they worked well together in leading the WillowGlen herd. "I can send Nidawi to your herd for a while, he has been learning all of Dayunsi's skills and has shown great promise. Though Malis will request one of the Vitterfolk join him as a precaution. The danger is not over for any of us yet and I know they would be willing to help you re-build any fortifications you may have." Nudging Dayunsi to the front once more she took a step back and let him pass on his knowledge for the herbs they had brought. The flutter stallion took a step forward at Immi's urgings and then bent his head towards the baskets. "Which would you like to know about? Some of the herbs are simple, much like this willowbark for pain and coltsfoot for coughs and colds, we have some others that are more specific to their regions though I have been lucky to be able to cultivate many sprouts and have them flourish." While he did flush a little with his mate's praise, he was earnest in helping Shrivatsa learn about the herbs they had given as some could be harmful if she didn't know the proper procedure or amount to apply. he did not want their gift to turn to a curse by inexperienced hooves.

Ardin lingered in the shadows, having rushed there seeing the smoke, only to discover that he was far too late to be of any use. He didn't know why he stayed, he knew he was intruding upon someone else's grief, but he couldn't help but notice how familiar most of them looked. So he watched on, he stared at their coats, and saw the petal markings on so many of them. After watching for what felt like an hour, he decided to get a closer look, he stepped closer, for once in his life feeling hesitant.
