The Lost One
Why was she alone?
Varin knew her family was out there. Had they gotten lost, somehow? She couldn't remember. Everything was fuzzy. Had she gotten lost? Yeah, that must've been it. She must've been trying to pull some prank on her older brother, Ghiso, and fallen behind. She would've been quiet while getting ready, so they wouldn't have noticed.
But why had she woken up? Maybe she had tripped and hit her head...? That would explain the fuzzies. Varin shook her head and tiny mane. No worries, she'd catch up!
Starting at an easy lope, she began running through the trees before she suddenly stopped. How did she know this was the way they went? They could've gone the other way! Turning around, she loped back before beginning to go another way and freezing. They might not have gone that way, either.
Looking around the small clearing in the forest- one that had four ways out- she began to pace the clearing, sniffing at each one for hints at which path to take. Panic welled up in her, before being quelled at the thought that she was finally on an adventure all her own. This was a quest, and she would find her kin or die trying!
Little did she know, the only way to find them now was to take the latter option...
