So, we're all inspired by music when we write. There is a playlist board for almost every roleplay, and each of us has certain songs come to mind when thinking about our characters.
I'm especially inspired by music, and cannot write without it.
So here's how this game works.
Put your itunes, youtube, mp3 player, or other music player on shuffle. Write down the title of whatever song comes up first. You must now write a short piece (story, poem, new character profile, whatever) based on the title***. It can include the actual words in the title, or simply be based on the images it conjures up in your mind.
BUT THERE'S A CATCH.
As soon as you've accepted the challenge, you must begin writing!!!
I usually get really hung up on these kinds of games, because I procrastinate and worry about making stuff PERFECT. DON'T DO THAT. Write WHATEVER comes to your head, RIGHT when you pick the song. This isn't a practice in perfection, it's a practice in inspiration and letting your mind (and your pen!) run wild.
***There is an exception. If you get a song with an incredibly offensive title (I know I have some! Haha!) OR if you get a title that is utterly boring and un-inspirational (or in another language), you can skip it and do the next one. Example: Songs with titles like “Main Theme” “Nanana” “Imma Be” “Ai oboete imasuka” and “2 Hookers and an 8 Ball” can be skipped! Hahaha
