Setting:While Cais attempts a covert operation on his quest to disable the Legion further, he breaks into a weapons storage building. Unknown to him, Jianyu is also at this particular building, inspecting the wares. [There will be no roll due to Cais being 2 stages below Jianyu. There would be no way he could win, so Jianyu will be the victor.]

The night was cloudy, which was good for his cover. Despite the cataclysmic recent events the young fighter's resolve to disable and destroy the Legion had not left him but rather had grown much stronger. Cais had decided this night would the perfect time to act, a strike against the Legion that would eventually lead to a Noble victory. Despite the sentiment proving to be little more than wishful thinking, he did have to do something. Exactly what that something was had already been planned out long before - a bit of information going a long way.
He'd heard it in passing from a few drunken Lunarians that there was a well-stocked weapons supply nearby, generally used to house Legion weapons. Whether or not it was a rumor had yet to be discovered, but as per usual the young fighter didn't have the patience to properly authenticate such claims. In the late hours of the night he had made his way on a desolate, winding path with as much speed as he could carry. If the building was empty he could easily be on his way to find a real lead, and if not he could take it out simply, especially if it had been so secret as to have little defense so as to not out itself to the public.
The time to do or die had come and passed as Cais reflected on those past thoughts, but now he stood over the building, crouched low onto the roof. Scaling the building had been little more effort than jumping from the next roof over, though the roof itself had proved a bit more slippery than he was used to. Grabbing a hold of a wooden beam for support he made his way to the nearest window. Though he could not see through it, the window itself was clearly large enough for him to squeeze into.
"Easy enough." he boasted quietly, swinging down with a light kick against it. It made little sound, but did not budge against his weight as he moved down from the roof. Holding his breath, he swung both feet down with an "oomph" sound, the window creaking slowly open. With a smirk he could feel the windowsill under his legs, the adrenaline slowly building up from him.
Perhaps inside he would meet a guard. A single one wouldn't pose too much a threat, he could probably even take up to three, though he could imagine he'd have a few small scars to show off afterwards. Taking one last look to the clouded sky, he moved down, slipping into the building with a soft thud. He stifled a sound as the window had been further up than planned. Blinking he glanced back up to it before ducking down behind a large box. Muttering a near inaudible curse he realized that it would not make a proper escape route.
That idea failed. he thought bitterly, his eyes slowly transitioning to the low light of the building. At once he felt a smile cross his face as the gleaming of weapons could be seen from his position, glittering edges and armor stacked on racks as far as he could see. In that moment, he felt a joy fill him, a joy that could only be given by an act of revenge. But how long could that moment last?

"Send all the troops northwards. We're getting broken down by the dozens, and it's getting out of hand."
The parchment stretched across the table looked as though it had been run over by something. There were black scorch marks around the edges, dirt smeared over the face of it, and ink blots were everywhere, starting from one area of the map and spilling into the rest of the territories of Lunaria. It was, however, the only map they had right now of their strategies, and though it may have looked unreadable, to Jianyu it was perfectly fine.
He peered down at it, eyebrows drawn together in concentration as one gloved finger traced a line from the North to the East. They had been blocked on one side already - Mizuki's shrine was surrounded on all four sides, but fortunately none dared to even approach her, not when she held the key to most of their fortunes. It was because of Mizuki that they were in the position they were now, after all.
Jianyu frowned. "Send Mi and his men to the North, and I'll attend to the weapons storehouse. We need more supplies."
His attendant nodded, and disappeared, ducking out of the canvas tent they were all crowded into. With a small sigh, Jianyu rolled up the parchment, tied it neatly, and tucked it into the folio with the rest of the papers. He handed it across the table to Yon, his Second-in-Command, and then, with a small nod, swept from the tent himself.
Outside the night sky was smeared with dark clouds, a fitful little breeze having kicked up. Jianyu made his way throughout the streets carefully, one hand - as always - resting against the crossbow at his hip. Lunaria was not safe - and had not been safe for a very long time. Sometimes he wondered whether or not it would ever be what it once had been, but the Times of Peace had been before Jianyu's time, back when his father had been a young man.
Lunaria had been at war for too long.
The weapons storehouse, thankfully, was only a short distance away, and it did not take much time for Jianyu to arrive. Once there, he slipped easily inside, searching for the necessary supplies to carry out the missions of the Legion, gathering up a few things here and there and making small notes on a ledger he held in his hand.
It was late. Somewhere an owl hooted.
And, somewhere inside the building, there was a quiet, almost inaudible thump.
Jianyu froze. Slowly, very slowly, so as to not make any sound, he turned around. It was not easy - not when he had the unexpected burden of a tail nearly twice the length of his own height - but he managed it.
Barely.
Through the hazy, dim light of the building he could see a shadow move slightly, from behind a stack of wooden crates off to his right. Stealthily Jianyu made his way forward, moving around the back of the crates, and, peering around one, he saw the back of someone.
Someone with very familiar sea green colored hair.
"I could kill you right now, you know.
"Cais."

Cais moved slowly, eyes darting from each and every corner of the dim shack. The rumor had been more than true, it was actually an underestimation. Around him he could see a heap of weapons strewn over the small building, their shining blades gleaming back under the small amount of light. He felt himself smile as he moved behind a large crate to inspect it - it was more than anything he could have hoped for.
Now what to do with it all?
In the case of his brother's delivery it had been small and dealt with by pushing it to the bottom of the sea. This would take hours and coordination of more than just himself to dispatch such a large amount of weapons. He felt himself sigh. "So much for doing this all in one night." Cais muttered low before examining another crate.
Somewhere behind him he heard a small creaking sound, but paid it no mind as he traced the writing of one of the crates. Behind him there was a small bit of shuffling and Cais blinked, ready to turn.
"Cais."
He heard it, clear as day and flinched, instinctively placing his hands into his gauntlets, turning with a defiant look to the familiar voice. "You agai-". Cais stopped and stared, his look of anger turning into one of slight confusion as he gazed to the visage of the man before him. The voice had been the same, as well as the arrogant tone, but this was different.
For one thing, Cais could clearly see two eyes reflecting back at him. Above that where only hair had been he could clearly see two horns on his head and behind the movement of something large and spiny. Cais felt another emotion slide over him, something not unknown but something rather unpleasant. He gaped for a moment before shaking his head subtly with a growl.
"So I see your outsides finally depict how monstrous you are." He said, though with a lack of the normal arrogance he shared when facing this particular foe. There was something lacking and that twinge of fear falling over him. Even Cais, who had little knowledge of certain things, had heard stories of going head to head with a Tenryujin.
Though he never expected to run into one himself, he'd heard the stories of their power and skills and how often it had ended terribly for their opponent. Cais could feel the sweat pouring off of his face as he immediately stood in a defensive position, swallowing hard. "Either way, it's going to take more than the likes of you to kill me." He said more triumphantly than before, regaining some of his composure.
In the back of his mind he was cursing himself given the lack of an escape if it were to get hairy. Even he couldn't expect to get out unscathed. With a quick glance to the entrance behind Jianyu he felt slightly better but that deeper thought kept coming back over and over again. This isn't going to be like those other times Cais.
Rather than waiting for the other to strike Cais make a quick decision and grabbed the nearest spear he could find. With a thrust he threw it at him with a clear shot before taking a few darting steps towards a different corner of the building, closer to the only exit.
"Damn it." he muttered. Despite his hatred of retreat, it was already looking like a viable option.

He was surprised, and then he was not. Cais was certainly reckless - and irritating - enough to try and break into a Legionnaire weapons storage facility, but even Jianyu had not thought that he would run into him here, now, in the midst of everything else going on.
But this, at least, thought Jianyu, as his eyes traced the lines of the figure that crouched in front of him, looking as though he wished he were anywhere other than here, utter loathing etched in every line of his young face. This gives me a chance to kill him. I didn't before, and it was foolish.
Much too foolish.
It was difficult to discern what the myriad of expressions that ran across Cais' face were, half shrouded in the shadows stretching across the warehouse, but there was a horrible, tense silence that stretched out for a full minute before either of them made any noise at all. Jianyu folded his arms across his chest, tail flicking behind him, quietly curling against his booted feet.
Why must this pest always be in my way?
"That's certainly rich, coming from you, of all people," he replied airily, leaning against the nearest stack of crates and looking at Cais, crossing one ankle over another. Outside the owls were still hooting, a quiet flap of wings echoing mutely through the walls. "Last I checked, you were the monster, not me."
His expression hardened, his lips pressing together in a thin line. Always such an insolent brat, he thought, taking sight of the anger sparking in Cais' eyes, at the arrogant, overly confident mannerisms - and yet there was a definite lack of something - though Jianyu could not quite put his finger on it just yet.
He was looking at the door. Jianyu straightened, taking a step forward, his hand already moving to the crossbow tied at his hip.
"Don't even think about it," he hissed, just as Cais dived sideways, a spear careening in Jianyu's direction. It went direct, Jianyu automatically sidestepping, but the tip caught him anyway, cutting through the side of his sleeve. The weapon whistled through the air, and Cais was on the move, heading towards the exit as fast as he could.
He didn't get very far - Jianyu made certain of that.
One gloved hand shot out, catching him by his shirt collar. Jianyu yanked him backwards, throwing him back across the room and into a nearby stack of crates.
"I made a mistake the first time," said Jianyu, advancing towards him with slow, deliberate steps, his eyes fixated on Cais. "I didn't kill you."
"I won't make that mistake again."

I am no monster!
The words had hit a nerve and he faltered for a but a moment - but a moment was all his opponent needed. A strong jerk nearly choked him as he felt the hand on the back of his shirt. There wasn't even time to let out a yell as he fell into the splinters of crates, his back taking the brunt of the force. He let out a hiss of pain with both eyes closed before reopening them.
He heard words muttered and scrambled to get out of the debris, staring defiantly at Jianyu. It rose up inside of him, perhaps it was a fools arrogance but it couldn't be helped.
"You make it sound like it will be so easy." He said, ignoring the fresh cuts of some splinters on his arm and the aching of his back. His weapons rose in front of him. "Let me assure you it won't be easy." Strong words, but was his will strong enough to back them?
The fighter looked again to the door, then refocused back onto his opponent.
"Let's settle it then." He muttered as sweat fell from his forehead. This is the only chance...
kurotomato My apologies for this being so overdue.

Cais was a thorn in his side, a problem that had persisted for years now. Each time neither had killed the other, and now Jianyu wished that he had, wished that he had extinguished the issue before it had even started. He should have known that Cais would always be the one to return and to continually provide him with a desire to crush him beneath his feet.
"Easy?" said Jianyu, glowering at the boy. Cais had staggered back upright, and though the throw had been strong, Cais was not as weak as Jianyu would have liked him to be. He was glaring at him with defiant eyes bright with anger and hatred. Jianyu lifted his chin, scowling.
"You're like a cockroach," he said, taking a few steps forward, slowly, deliberately, his tail sliding along the ground behind him. Absently he ran a finger down the bridge of his crossbow, feeling the cool, familiar metal of the bolt penetrate through his thin gloves. A glint of moonlight caught the blades of Cais's weapon, shimmering silver.
"You never die." Another step forward. "You're constantly here, a constant threat to the well-being of any decent Lunarian. Your'e a pain, a mistake that should have been rectified long ago. I should have killed you when I first had the chance."
He lifted the crossbow, pointing it directly at Cais's forehead.
"You're move, child."

The situation was escalating. Outwardly Cais knew how to talk, his mouth running with the anger which coursed through his veins, but that wasn't going to get him through this. Yet, and it was obvious because he had tried, there wasn't going to be an escape without going through him. A twinge of fear had gripped him, though further inside he could feel it twisting like a knife. The pupils in his eyes seemed to shrink as the realization came over him. He'd wanted this.
Perhaps there was little chance, but to fight him... to hurt him. "Heh." He said with a small laugh, his ribs aching under it from the hard landing in the crates. "Maybe that's all true, but if that is..." His eyes met Jianyu's. "I'd gladly be that cockroach if it means giving you some hell."
Inwardly his words had done more damage, but there was a new rush - a new demand of him - surely later he'd think it over.
His mouth opened to retort smartly again but was silenced by the appearance of the crossbow aiming directly at him. "-child" He heard it, and it was like a pop, almost like a starting gun or firework. Cais was off in that moment, barreling into him with the blades outward, scratching for any bit of flesh. If he'd been hit by Jianyu's crossbow, he wasn't aware of it yet as his body had gone numb by the collision.
It wasn't the most elegant move he could make, not even the smartest, but he was going to do what he said. He was going to give him hell.
