Ok, well to get right down to it, i have been a christian since last summer, so ive been figuring things out for myself this whole time. For the past few months i feel as if ive been growing away from the religion, and recently i feel like i want God to give up on me so i can do my own thing, i know how bad that is and how much i should try to change, but i just dont seem to be able to change. I pray, and i do it emptily, i cant feel it anymore, im really confused on what i should do since i will always believe in God. Im only 15 so i have forever to grow, but i just dont think i can do this anymore, at least for now. I know God's not just a game you can pause and come back to at anytime, im just so out of it! Please, please help me.

I know how you feel. When I was first growing up in Christ I didn't feel or act very Christian like, I only aknowledged Him at Church or Church activites. It took me a few years of doing these activites to realize what kind of relationship I really needed with God.

My suggestion to you is to first, not give up, cause it is worth growing in God the youngest age possible. He will work with you all your life and the closer you grow to God, the more peace you will feel with Him.

Next, keep yourself plugged into a Church or Church activites, like youth groups, retreats, and camps. If you feel that money will be an issue just remember that most Churches have scholarships, you just have to ask. I understand reading might be an issue, I still have a hard time to make an effort to read the bible or Christian resources, so read what you can when you can.

Most of all, keep praying. You may not feel anything at first, but if you find some time alone you need to spend that time talking to God. Just tell Him about your problems, your joys, and ask for wisdom and guidence. If you keep praying, I promise you will soon discover just what God's presence feels like.

I will continue to pray for you. If you have any questions feel free to pm me or start some question threads.

A big help for me was to look for something inspiring... for me it was the Paladin. A holy warrior. What will it be for you? Someone who shows an extreme extent of faith and trust... someone who helps others without thinking of themselves... or a reliable person who is level headed and well seated in his faith.

You could even make your own style in your mind... what is your way through life.

"In life you have to walk your own path... no one is gonna give you a map to YOUR future... Let the stars guide you and keep you mind focused on your goal, and know that he will always be there... He may not always be beside you. He could be in front looking for serpents or behind helping us see our mistakes and lettin us grow... but he will always be there."

I can relate to that too. Many times I feel like I want to go out and do something great for God, but I never get around to it and get discouraged. After a while I discovered following God relies on more than just feeling His presence and doing great things for Him(there are easier things I can do to build myself up to the greater things later). Also, there are many times that I don't feel His presence, but know He is still with me. This is where faith must kick in. You have to trust in God to be with you even when you can't feel Him. Often, it takes time for Him to reveal Himself to you because His times everything perfectly. He waits for the perfect time to tell you something when you need it or can understand it the most. Just be patient and keep doing what you can to grow and understand Him more. I highly suggest finding a bible study. I learned a lot from the Disciple bible study program, maybe you can find one of those, if not any other bible study should be fine. The object is to just keep at it, and pray!

First off, I would like to welcome you to the Family of Christ. May God bless you fruitfully in your relationship with Him.

Now, for my tidbits here and there:

a.)Don't do it alone

You stated that you have been figuring things out for yourself. I strongly suggest getting some Christian friends and surroundings. The bible has some verses about this, though I cannot remember this off the top of my head. One example that has been commonly used is a rope. Each strand in the rope standing alone breaks easily, but when you bind them together in a rope, it is much more difficult to break. A christian surrounding is very important. I urge you to seek it.

I will add the rest later, but tonight, I need to get some sleep. Goodnight.

One thing that can help is to distance yourself from activities that seem to be filling up too much of your time and all of your focus. If you find yourself constantly longing for something that isn't of God, try to distance yourself from it. Also make sure you have a constant reliable christian influance in your life. Not just going to church, but surrounding yourself with christian friends and activities. The Bible says to not yoke yourself with un-believers, for what relationship can light have with darkness? For me when I was drifting away, and God was't real I was drifting because of my friends. I spent every moment possible with them and got into the bad things they were into. I was afraid of being alone, for that is what brought on the thoughts of suicide. But God crashed guilt down on my heart, and I asked him to take away the sinful desires and the fear of being alone. After a few weeks of not being around my friends (more like avoiding them as much as possible) my relationship with God was restored. Just a tip, good luck to you, my brother in Christ.

Been there done that, just got over it recently. The thing that really got me through is Fellowship with some stable christians. I mean serious fellowship, not always just being friiends but debating and learing from them. (and probably them from you)

I seriously was at my breaking point, I stopped going to church and got to the point where I could no longer bring myself to pray.

However I found a close, small, group online. I may be by far the youngest, and don't know half as much as them (especialy cause 1/4 of them are pastors)

Anotherthing that helps is to start, if you don't already, listening to christian music. (mercyme, newsboys, michael w. smith, are just a few off the top of my head)

Oh! Something that helped me a lot. There's this book series written by a Christian author. It's a fantasy epic but much of it is based on real things, such as the battles of angels and demons. The first book is called "Eye of the Oracle." I really love it, and this one character in it that I can really relate to has inspired me a lot to become closer to God. If you love fighting for what is right against all odds, good dragons, and heroes trying to defeat the devil's temptations, this book is for you!
