Name: Morrie
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Craft: None. ):
Rank: Candidate
History: Morrie came to High Reaches with her father and some traders and kind of ... got left behind. The girl's parents had plenty of other children to fret about, and Morrie wasn't high on their list of priorities. While the traders were at High Reaches, Morrie seemed happy helping the women with the baking. Sensing an opportunity to unload a dull daughter, Morrie's father arranged her "apprenticeship" and headed home.

Morrie was a bit sad about being left behind, but life at the Weyr was interesting enough. She never really dreamed of being a dragonrider, but at least she felt like she was part of something important. Kind of. As far as making pies goes, anyways.

Recently, she has begun Standing for Hatchings. She doesn't really think she has a chance, but this otherwise sweet-natured girl has a streak of stubborn defiance buried way down deep. She has heard the unkind comments of Weyrbrats that consider her dull and stupid, and even if she doesn't truly believe she can Impress a dragon, she's going to at least try.

Appearance: Morrie is slightly shorter than average, and plumper than average as well. Her black hair is cut short and kept pinned back out of necessity - dragonriders tend to be vocal in their complaints if they find a long black hair in their pie. As far as looks go, Morrie is pale for a Pernese after spending most of her time in the kitchens. She has dark eyes and a slightly upturned nose. Most men would describe her as "cute", or more ominously, "a good cuddle". Morrie has never cuddled anyone to date, but she is vaguely aware of the meaning of this statement and tends to hide when green flights are in progress.

Personality: Most people find Morrie to be pleasant, but dull. She's not terribly bright and not terribly talented. Morrie isn't even a very good cook, and will likely never rise beyond her apprenticeship. She makes a mean pie, but other dishes elude her. Especially meats. Morrie's dinners tend to be either bloody or scorched - or, sometimes, both. Morrie is a solid baker, but seems to have dead taste buds and an awful sense of timing as far as other dishes are concerned.

Still, despite her lack of talent, Morrie is a good-hearted girl. She's not bright, but she studies things with a kind of plodding concentration and usually manages an average level of competence. Let's put it this way - if Morrie were in school, she would study her a** off and be very proud of her C average.

Although Morrie is very kind to others, she has a defiant streak. Especially when other people are unkind to her. Morrie doesn't have much of a temper, but she will show her defiance in other ways - frequently ways that lead other people to believe she is an idiot. Morrie's sullen determination to prove that she might just be worthy to Impress a dragon manifests in other, much less useful ways. She is often passive-aggressive, burning food intentionally or even stealing things and hiding them just to make people look foolish. She always feels guilty when she does this, but sometimes she can't help herself.
