Khide: -The night was inked across the sky with a small spot of light hanging above in the form of an orb. Khide was sitting next to a lake, a melodious hum coming from her throat.-


Elden: *wandering the forest like usual, stumbling upon a lake he'd visited once or twice but pauses, noting an unfamiliar figure sitting there. listens to the melody that faintly washes over him, gaining the courage to hesitantly approach*


Khide: -While still humming to herself, she began combing out her long black and white hair. Strands were falling in her face, being carried by a very light wind. Hearing the approaching footsteps, her eyes veered into an upward gaze. She gave a small smile in his direction.- Hello Sir.


Elden: *freezes as she speaks to him, having been noticed. He adjusts his stance before nodding at her, taking in her appearance that is radiant in the moonlight* Evening, miss. *smiles politely back*


Khide: You may join me, if you wish. I don't see many visitors out this way. -Pushes her hair back behind her shoulders though the wind whips it back into her face. In futility she gives up trying to keep it neat.-


Elden: *chuckles quietly as the wind ruins her effort to keep her hair out of her face, but he takes up her offer, padding towards her* Thanks. I've been out this way a few times, but I've never seen anyone else out here before. It's a truly beautiful spot. *nods to himself as sits next to her, throwing his gaze to the sky and flattening his wings to his side*


Khide: -Can't help but nod.- I love the way the moon twinkles across the ripples of the water. Its soothing. And the wind pushes just the right amount of mist in the air, making it pleasant no matter how hot it might be. -Smiles at him.- Its almost as if there are spirits all around us..


Elden: This is the first time I've really come out here at night like this. But you're right. *breathes in deeply as the mist breezes over him* Spirits..? *instantly smiles back at her, finding her smile a little contagious* I've never thought about that.. I mean, I guess in a way I have, because of my mom, but I never related to nature. Huh. *mullls over the idea of spirits, not very informed on the subject but definitely curious*


Khide: Really? -Tilts her head to the side, hair falling back into her face. She blows some air at it, trying to get it out of her eyes.- Spirits are all around us, especially in nature. The water, the air, the earth, fire.. it all has spirits that govern it. Even the moon. Think about it this way. Whatever higher power there is.. has the elementals below him or her that govern over certain attributes. Such as the ocean, then the rivers, then the lakes.. and rain.. until its a trickling effect. Like a business. You have the head guy, then the supervisors, then managers, then the shift managers and the employee. It works kind of like that.


Elden: *turns to her as she explains, listening intently* Okay.. So it all connects. Through the spirits, right? Every little worker counts because without it the business won't run. *nods a couple times before watching the water ripple* What does that makes us? *looks towards her again*


Khide: -Nods quite a bit.- Yeah, exactly like that. For us.. it depends. As consumers and not spirits our job is to live and make life better for others. To revere the spirits and protect the world we live in. -Her lips twist into a small smile and blushes softly.- Though, there are those of us who are or were part of the spirits once.. My mother.. was one of those. Because of that I have a certain affinity with the moon.


Elden: *nods* I think we all deserve a life we enjoy... *perks up, ears twitching in interest at her last statement* Really? *smiles* That's incredible. *looks up at the moon at the thought* Do you have any powers? *ducks his head almost at the same time he asks the question* Sorry if that's like, a dumb question or something.. *keeps his eyes on the grass at his feet, a light pink coloring his cheeks*


Khide: -With her own cheeks a light blush she nods fervently.- I do.. Just watch me.. -Making sure his eyes were on hers, she smiles softly and then her whole body begins to fade into the darkness.-


Elden: *holds her gaze until her form is gone, eyes widening in shock and utter awe* That's.. That's amazing! *lifts a paw to reach out to paw at the space she had occupied only a moment earlier but pulls it back just as quickly, realizing that would be rude* Can you still hear and see? *glances around the surrounding area as if she had moved, trying pointlessly to find her*


Khide: -Reforms in the exact same area and nods.- I can see you, and hear you. My power comes from my mother. Its shadow magic essentially. I don't use it that often so I'm not near as versed with it as she is. -Pulls her wings closer to herself as a wind shifts against her fur.-


Elden: *finds comfort in being able to see her again* Still, that's pretty incredible. Most can't do that or even anything like it, really. It's a special talent you have, miss. *smiles at her, resettling his wings when she moved her own without thinking about it* You must feel something for the moon, huh? Something more than just anyone would. I can only imagine... *thinks to himself as he dips a paw in the lake to watch the ripples that follow*


Khide: -Shivering slightly, she only nods. She stares at the surface of the lake when he plays with the ripples.- I do.. Its like... a guiding force to me. Always there. Always protecting me. For the longest time it was reassurance to me that my mother was watching over me. So as long as I can see it.. feel it.. I know I'm safe.


Elden: *pulls his paw out and shakes it out away from her* Hm. I can see that. It's reliable and you're so connected to it that you can't really be okay without it.. Does that mean you feel less secure during the day? Or because the moon is always there, just not seen, can you still feel it?


Khide: -Gives a soft, almost insecure grin.- You can tell things about me already and I don't even know your name.. Yes, I would have to say I am less secure during the day. But I do find solace in all light to a degree. Its just a different kind. Without light the shadows cannot exist. -Glances back in his direction.- My name is Khide.


Elden: *nods* That's true. So the light plays on your shadow magic to give you some sense of safety, and the moon relies on your affinity for it to give you the ultimate feeling of security.. *murmuring to himself almost at this point, trying to make connections with ideas* That's quite unique. *shifts his eyes towards her after her glance toward him* It's a pleasure to meet you, Khide. I'm Elden. *pauses but then offers a paw to shake if she wants to, knowing it's what his father taught him*


Khide: Yes, you could put it that way. But that is unique to me. My mother's own shadow magic pains her if she is near the sun's light at all. So in a way I guess I am different than she. -Smiles at him. She takes his paw and shakes it, but also offers her head in a low bow as she was taught.- Its a pleasure to meet you Elden.


Elden: *frowns* Ouch.. But that's probably a good thing because if we were just like our parents, we'd be them and not us. *smiles, shaking her paw but tilting his head as she bows, realizing there is a whole lot more to her character* You don't have to bow to me. *puts his paw in the water again, deeper this time, admiring how it changes the surface*


Khide: -Giggles softly and shrugs.- I've been told that my legacy is to be my mother's heir. I am the pure version of her soul, what she would be had she not been born a demon. Sometimes I believe it. -Pulls her legs closer to herself, watching his paws in the water, fasinated.- Other times I know that I am who I am, regardless of my mother, or my father. -Lets out a breath.- But what about you? Do you resemble either of your parents?


Elden: *nods sympathetically* On the plus side, you got all the good parts of her~ *laughs, knowing just how lame that sounded* Me? *shrugs* I've got my mom's wings. *stands and steps back to fully extend them, flapping them so he hovers just a bit, then landing agains and returning to where he sat with a smile* My mom, she's dead. But she's not. She's a ghost, stuck in the in between state, I guess? Honestly, I don't even know how to explain it, but she's an amazing mother, sweet as can be. My father is devoted to her one hundred percent, and I kinda got his hair, I thnk *shakes it out for emphasis* I didn't get his talent, though. I mean, my wings are a huge part of me, *pauses* no pun intended, but I didn't get my dad's skill with music nor his extreme passion for it. But I'm the only son in the bunch so I try as hard as I can to make him happy, but what have I got? I can't find anything that would make him proud of me. *exhales slowly* Sometimes I just feel... *lifts his head to look at the sky* stuck, y'know? *lowers his head again, smiling half-heartedly* Sorry, that was.. That was kind of dark. *rubs the back of his neck shamefully* I didn't mean to unload all of that onto you.


Khide: -Smirks a little but shrugs at the compliment.- My mother is much more powerful than I am, so that's debatable. She's also dedicated her life to helping and protecting others, and because of her power she can do it a lot better than I can. -Twitches her ears back and forth as she listens to him. She stays completely quiet, letting him get everything out before she decides to speak.- She's a ghost? That's amazing. -Eyes sparkle in interest.- I'd love to know more about that.. -Noting the rest of it, she muses.- I'm sure your father loves you. Even if he doesn't show it or say it, I'm sure he does. You are apart of the woman he loves, you are apart of him. That should make him proud enough of you. But if you like, I can try to help you find something. -Smiles a bit, her eyes fixated on his wings.- And your wings... are absolutely beautiful.


Elden: *nods* A ghost. I couldn't tell you much more, but I'm sure she wouldn't mind talking to you sometime. *takes in her words* You're right. I'm sure he loves me. I bet both of them do. I kind of forget to use reason when I get caught up like that, so thanks for pushing me back in the right direction there. *smiles sincerely at her* I'd love to find something, honestly. *flutters the tips absently* Thanks. *grins* I can reach amazing heights. The view from up there is absolutely breathtaking. *tells himself to calm his excited grin, and does so by schooling his face but ultimately failing* I love flying so much.
