'Asylum' suggests a safe place, yet i very much doubt it.
Does London know of the goings-on behind these dirty walls? All in the name of medicine?
I am considered strange, unable to fit into the rest of society.
I cannot meet the required standards of a woman's behavior.
So it is by that reasoning they deem me mad.

Setting: London, 1846
Plot so far: Amelia Sinnet is an eighteen year old girl, currently working as a prostitute. She does and says what she wants, without thinking of the consequences. She is known to have a ruthless and cold side, things that would terrify most have no effect on her. She is numb. This lack of emotion annoys her, giving her a history of self-harm in order to feel anything at all. Unknown to her, the local doctors have deemed her insane (and you can make up your own mind as to the truth) and have ordered she be sent to the local asylum for curing of her insanity.
