Servant Reborn
I'm not really excited about video games anymore. I'm so jaded by this generation. lol

I have not played a survival horror, but I'm sort of interested in trying Silent Hill series. The last ps2 game I bought was this odd game called Shadow of Destiny, where the main character has to go back in time to prevent his own murder. I started it, but switched back to ps3 after I bought some games for the ps3.

One thing I miss from last gen was local multiplayer. Maybe it's just my skewed view, but I can't remember too many games with local multiplayer, at least not the same..giant catalog of games.

I like platform games, fighter games, racing games, adventure, action, education games, mmo, tps, fps, point-and-click, rpgs. I think the last time I was excited for a game was Transformers Fall of Cybertron, but I have yet to buy it. I could buy it, but I'm more excited to get Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage. However, I am playing Enslaved Odyssey to the West, Fallout 3, and recently finished the story of Sonic Generations. So, after I finished Enslaved, I want to play Heavy Rain, and switch it up with Fallout from time to time because..that game is going to talk massive time. Afterward, I would buy Way of the Samurai 3, and eventually get to Transformers. lol

Anyway, I basically wait for games to go on sale or buy used online. I don't..feel that excitement I used to have anymore, and I figure it's no loss except for time. Graphics are nice, but so many bland colors. This gen has been so boring for me.

The graphics have gotten amazing, but you're right... they are pretty bland unless they're cartoony (e.g. Borderlands). Which is also fine. But games these days are always so dark. Graphics-wise, I mean. Not always (but often) figuratively speaking.

RE2 is actually PS, not PS2, although I believe you can download it to PS3. I happen to have all three, just in case.

I have been really thinking about playing Heavy Rain, but it just seems so... heavy (pun not intended, but appreciated).

Heavy in it's content (too much stuff), or heavy in it's maturity (too mature)?

RE3 is also on PS, right? I think the only last gen ones were..Code Veronica, Zero, and 4. I might have forgotten one, though.

Oh that reminds me! I am really excited for a game called Deadly Premonition to come to Ps3! I like games with weird occult stuff, apparently.

"Wierd Occult Stuff."

AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

If by "Weird Occult Stuff" you mean Batshit Insanity than Deadly Premonition is plum-full of the occult.

Seriously, though, Deadly Premonition deserves everyone's attention and I'm wicked glad people are talking about it.

Heavy Rain just sounds too emotionally investing/taxing. I'm a sensitive person. ;] I've been known to cry while watching history documentaries. ...Plus, I'm squeamish. And whats-his-face has to do some gross tasks. Yet somehow zombies don't bother me as much.

Yes, RE3 was also on PS. I know RE4 was on PS2 and so was Code Veronica, but Zero was only on Wii and GameCube I think.

I have not head of Deadly Premonitions, but I'll look into it now.

Ya, the weird ness is what makes it stand out. I have to dig deep to find a gem of a game these days, and DP makes me smile so much. I understand the economy isn't great, but the industry needs to take more risks. Using only what's proven is a sure fire way to bore the consumer, making stuff predictable.

Sensitive, but likes zombies. xD

Interesting. Something I appreciate is when old characters come back like with ..that girl from RE2 being in 6. I read up a bunch of RE articles. Enjoyable stuff to read, they were.

I wonder if there are any other weird games like Deadly Premonition. I'm all excited for it.

I love, love, love that they brought Sherry back and explained what happened to her over the past 14 years. There have been some great (or at least interesting) characters that have just disappeared. It was great seeing her all grown up. Fixed some major plotholes.

And, since Claire is my favorite yet they refuse to put her in another game, Sherry had kind of become my back-up favorite. Sherry based herself on Claire, who became her mother figure after RE2, so... she's sorta like a mini Claire?

The campaign in RE6 with Sherry was easily and by far my favorite campaign. I also love that her partner was Wesker's son, since Sherry's father and Wesker were best friends and colleagues for many years. It kind of came full circle--both hurt by their fathers yet still trying to make up for their faults. I'm a sucker for a good redemption story.

That's nice, but I wonder what ever happened to Wesker's brother. What's his name?

I've only read two of the books, and they were both from the series based on the games. I read Nemesis (RE3) and Underworld (RE2) by S.D. Perry. They were actually much better than I expected.

One thing I didn't like, though, was that the author created her own character as like... a shadowy figure in the background that appears in each book to tie them together, working for Umbrella but tipping off the heroes. Considering she was basing the series on the game, she kind of messed up a lot of canon by doing that.

Here's the novelization for Resident Evil: Retribution. It's by a different author, John Shirley, and I haven't read it, so I'm not sure how good it is.

I can keep looking for the other books if you'd like? I know I've seen them around... (I worked in a bookstore for three years.)

I own all the movies, even though the last one nearly killed me. It was basically filler until the last movie. And they relied too heavily on the game characters (Leon, Barry, Ada), who I think were way too overdramatic and had awful cheesy lines. ...Then again, the original games also had awful cheesy lines. It was part of their charm. I'll still see the final movie, of course.

You know what are actually really good? The Capcom CGI movies that take place in the game universe. Degeneration has Claire, which probably makes it my favorite, but Damnation was really engaging.

Wait until you can find RE6 on sale... or get it used super cheap online. I'm really enjoying it, but it has its fair share of problems.

Lol I don't know if I should get those two books you mentioned now since you said the author's character kind of messed up a lot of canon. But I might get that third book you mentioned o3o And if it's not too much trouble for you that would be sweet :3

I can't believe Wesker is becoming somewhat of a good guy on the Retribution movie because the human race is doomed lol. I found that very odd and humorous. I found it kind of cheesy too that they kind of tried to copy Aliens with Sigourny Weever as Ripley trying to protect a little girl. They could have also given the Resident Evil game characters different clothing instead of the clothing from the games :p

I haven't watched Damnation yet but I plan to by the end of this month :3

Lol I always try to wait till the price goes down on video games I want, lol I'm cheap xD

Wesker had a brother? eek Well I guess in a way he did since he was apart of the Wesker children experiment and he asks "are you saying I was manufactured?" on Resident Evil 5. What's his name said he was the survivor of these Wesker children so in way the other children were his siblings if they were manufactured I guess o_O

Hmm, I only read those reports once when I played through Nightmares, but I agree with Orchid Applegate. I think they were only "brothers" in the sense that they were both semi-successful test subjects in the same experiments.

I'm sure he'll pop up. Now that Wesker, the ultimate RE bad guy, is gone, they'll have to fill in the gap. I'm really hoping that since Jake was in the so-called "Secret Ending," he'll be the main character in the next game.

Honestly, I expected to dislike him since long-lost relatives are a bad sign for a series, but I really enjoyed his character. (Especially the voice actor, who I thought did a great job despite his many cheesy lines.)

Wesker's son facing Wesker's test-subject-brother-guy would be a plausible future story line.

Yeah, her character was in the background pulling strings. It bugged me. Resident Evil has enough drama, characters, and plotlines that I feel like making up a whole new one is unnecessary. I only read those two books, but I can't recall him being based on any character in the Capcom universe.

At least one of her books was entirely made up and based on no game at all---except I sorta forgive her because it was about Rebecca, who basically disappeared after Resident Evil/Zero/that one creepy picture of her in sports clothes that you can find in Wesker's desk in RE2 if you search the drawer enough times. (Seriously, what the heck was a 38 year old STARS captain doing with a picture of his 18 year old employee?!) At least we know Barry escaped the zombie fight by going to Canada with his wife and two daughters. Half the other characters just drop off the face of the planet. What happened to Carlos? Billy? Ashley (..ick)? Ark? etc.

Okay, I did a little research. The author of the movie novelizations is Keith DeCandido. First book is Genesis. Second book is Apocalypse. Third book is Extinction.

If you read eBooks, you can get them for the Kindle on Amazon or you can get the for Nook at Books-A-Million or Barnes & Noble's websites. If you want actually book-books, it looks like you can find them cheap on Amazon.

I can get you links, or you can search for 'DeCandido' and the title of the book on any of the above websites. :]
