A little smile graced her maw as she felt the forest's lethargic pleasure once more. Yes. He was a kind wolf. A good wolf.
"Jialin says you are welcome," she translated as Adam's stomach grumbled. Oh. Food. Food. He was still hungry. The den was not far. Soon they would eat.
His curiosity struck her, though. Did he not believe her? "Finch does not lie," she said, a frown in her voice. "Family is away, away. Not near here. There is only Finch and Jialin and Adam."
However, her discontent vanished when he made his offer.
"You will stay?" she asked, wide-eyed with awe. How long? He would really not go? She had visitors at times, but they never stayed. They always kept on walking, walking, walking. Just a quick little visit and they were gone.

After the frown and the knowledge that she really was alone, well, how could he say no? ''Course! Finch is nice~' Adam said with a smile and a tail wiggle. 'Mama said to always be grateful and do good things in return. And I think girls really like being nuzzled, right?' And given cheek licks, though he barred himself from saying that - that was just . . . ewwwwww. And awkward. Even if the few times he'd received it it had made his stomach wriggle pleasurably. 'So I'll stay for a while and give you lots nuzzles!'
Though Adam (or rather, Adam's stomach) really hoped they weren't far now, because despite being on the move he still felt cold and was slowly losing feeling in his paws as they dug in the snow.

...nice? He thought she was nice? This caused Finch to wag her tail some more. And he would stay! However, she was not sure what to make of the nuzzling. It was far from a common occurrence for her. Probably, not something she had experienced since she was a pup. It sounded...nice, though. Yes. It sounded nice. Company and nuzzles. The coming days were looking brighter, already.
There was an extra bounce in her step as she led the way to a relatively small hole nestled between some roots at the base of a massive tree.
"Home," she said before crawling into the hole which led to a surprisingly large den. More than enough room for a pair of wolves. When Adam appeared beside her, she pointed toward the far corner where a rabbit lie. "Eat."

OvO She needn't say it twice. Little Adam all but hopped like a rabbit into the hole himself to consume the rabbit. Oh gosh, it was still kinda warmish, it was so good aaaaaawwwww . . .
Several minutes of ravenous consuming later, Adam turned to Finch with blood flecked across his already mostly red face, dark eyes bright. 'Eated~'
At which point he realized, in his eagerness that see might have more food since he finished so quickly, that his mouth had not moved when he "spoke" that time.
Er. Well. >A>;;; Didn't he look sheepish.

Finch cocked stared at him unblinkingly for a moment. She was not particularly shocked when he "spoke" without moving his mouth. She had suspected that he was like her sister, after all. This merely confirmed it. She was just wondering why he spoke only like that, or why he had bothered to pretend speaking like a normal wolf at all.
"Finch wonders. Why does he move his mouth when he does not have to? Or why does he not use his mouth at all?"

Oh boy . . . With his mouth set in a tiny grimace, like a pup caught doing something he shouldn't, Adam communicated directly with his mind. 'It's not something I like to show. Some wolves might not get what the power is and get scared or angry; one time I tried to tell someone I could speak into the minds of birds and they chased me off with nips at my tail.' Though only because he somehow managed to stumble around confusedly enough in his rush that the offender's aim was compromised.
It was particularly hard to tell with Adam, but his eyes were averted off to the side sheepishly. 'When I talk and move my mouth, everyone think's I'm normal. I don't like standing out. I want to help others without them knowing how I do it 'cuz they might not understand.'

Finch accepted his answer with a shrug. She could understand wanting to hide one's powers. Some wolves did not take kindly to hers, though most did not believe her unless she demonstrated them, anyway. Regardless, his did not bother her.
"Finch's sister can whisper in your mind, too," she said. "You do not need to pretend." And that was that.

That . . . was it? Huh. It was kinda a nice answer, simple and to the point. It sorta made him feel a little better. 'She can?' he asked, blinking owlishly. He didn't often hear about others like him, the only one he really knew beyond himself being Venda. 'But . . . what about you?' This was the best opportunity to ask and either prove or deny his theory. 'I don't feel you can talk in minds, but there's something here.'

Finch nodded, though his question was redundant. Tiah was special, like him. As for the lady herself, well, she was a different beast.
"Finch can speak to forests, and help them. Grow. Thrive. Move. Speak. Finch helps. She can be their paws and voice. Finch can also heal. Jialin likes to help Finch heal."
If there were others like her, or a name for her kind, she had never heard of it. She simply knew that she had a connection with forests, and that connection was a wonderful thing, even if it did scare some. She hoped Adam would not be scared. Tiah was not, so perhaps he would not be, either.

'Hmmm. I think you're a . . . a . . . um . . .' He stuck his tongue out the side of his bout him thought. 'Shaman! I think that's the word, shaman. Shamans can do that sort of stuff. I knew this other shaman a loooooong time ago who could see into other people's past through their eyes, through their memories.' Every major figure of either seer or shaman status besides himself seemed to be female, Adam just noticed. Weird.
But who cared! It was nice to know that he was in the presence of someone who could understand what a different life it was to have magic intrinsic and open in their life.

"Shaman?" She had never heard the word before, but perhaps it fit? There were others like her? Or, not like her, but with other powers? Though, that particular shaman sounded more like its powers were closer to Tiah's than Finch's. Relations to wolves. Finch could not do anything like that.
Oh. "Is there a word for you?" It would only make sense. If there was a word for her, then there must be a word for him, right?
He was still hungry? She did not have any more meat to offer him, but maybe... "Berries?"

Adam nodded his head vigorously at the suggestion, not even ashamed at how he begged for food at this point, or at how there was blood now dried on his muzzle from his feasting on the rabbit. 'Er, my title is seer, 'cuz we can see into the future and see into someone's mind and stuff,' he explained before shivering once more. 'Sorry, when I said I suck at hunting, I really suck . . .' Actually, when was the last time he ate a decent meal?

Seer. That made sense. It was a good name.
Ah. "Berries are there," she said, motioning to another spot. He was really so hungry? She was not a fabulous hunter, but she could at least keep herself fed enough not to starve.
"Finch can try hunting more?" Maybe she would find something worth eating. It was worth a try. They would both need more food soon, anyway.

'I'll come along of course, if you do,' Adam added hastily, not wanting to look ungrateful. 'I need some tips and tricks; Mama Kalama taught me how to hunt first, but . . . I haven't seen her in a while.'
If there was ever such a thing as a sensitive subject making a hitch in your throat, only instead it was in your mind, there it was.
'And Venda, she's . . . We have different ways of doing it.' Blindness versus formless sight.
'And I'll give you a lot of nuzzles and stuff!'

Her ears flicked back and forth uncertainly. They would have to hunt, but maybe they should rest first. It was cold out. They already had at least a little food in their bellies. Rest, then. Yes.
"Hunt later," she said.
Lots of nuzzles? He seemed to think nuzzles were, well, she was not sure what he thought they were, but it looked like she would have to get used to them.
Well. Until then, she just curled up near the deepest edge of the den. "Rest now."
