User ImageA soft sigh escaped the nature colored female mouth. She dislike this time of the year. It was cold, wet, and white. She wasn't sure why the last one made any different but it might be the fact that her friends were cover in the white hue called snow. It wasn't that she didn't appreciated this time of year it was just that her friends were either dead or very weak. Which didn't make her feel any better because she could do almost nothing to helped them. She was warped in her tail that cover most of her small frame which she had gain from her mother. It was snowing which made her sigh grow a bit louder.

She moved carefully away from the displeasing scene and wondered what her brother was doing right now. She wondered if this time of the year bother him as much as it bother her. Frowns was rare on her face but in this state it quickly appeared just a quickly as it faded. She moved from where she was sitting, her paw leaving a imprint on the snow that have cover the ground. She wondered if anyone like this time of the year. Surely someone had too? She pulled her collar up around her neck and sighed again. She hated being so depressed but she had yet to see anything that made her even remotely happy.

Moving a bit faster now she wondered if it would be better to just go hide inside and work with her father. He always had something to do in the shop...if he was there. Most of the time he was with her mother. She sighed once more and looked down at the snowflake that just pressed against the pile of snowing collecting on mother earth. She looked hard at whined. "Why must you cover my friend, young snowflake? I know it's the cycle of season but couldn't you come later? Maybe even not at all?" she said sighing. It was sad to see this but young Aspen it was even sadder. She didn't have too many friends and she always counted on her friends from mother earth to keep her in company. She sat back down warping her tail around her small frame and sigh once more, still looking down at the snowflakes that landed on her friends.

Slight cackling of leaves escaped from her trail as the young huntress looked about. This weather was quite similar to like that of her home, a frozen hell where only few could survive. For that, she was thankful she was raised roughly on her own, for now she didn't have reason to fear the wilderness or cold. She had been hoping, however, to see therumored greenlife of the lowerlands, as her people called it - leaves, plants, flowers of colors that could not live in the mountains where she came from. It was unfortunate to see so less flora surviving in such weather, but as her fellow clan members had told her, it was part of the cycle of rebirth - Cold, harsh weather was only the beginning of a wondrous circle in life.

The air was still with her warm breath escaping into the winter winds, flakes of snow falling about her. Pale, white snow - nothing new to Freja, a familiar friend and foe from childhood. Looking about, she moved much more silently around, spotting a bright mound of strange coloration amongst the white - was that... a small tree? She looked closer - No, this was someone else, another life like hers, but so very much different. Green and gold, colors of the leaves in seasons like in her childhood stories she would embed in her memory when the cold was tough on her skin and fur. Such a bright, vivid green, she had never encountered before. Rushing over silently, Freja nudged the other with her nose a little. "Are you alright? Has the cold taken you?"

Eagerly, she lowered herself to the green girl, hoping she was fine.

If it was one thing that made Aspen as red as a juicy tomato it was being startle, it was another to be touch. This two things mixed would make her face glow a indescribable red hue. The mixture of these things made the small framed female let out quite squeak, falling face first into the white snow that she dislike the most. Fortunately for her, her face was so warm from being so embarrassed it start to melt the whiteness away that surrounded her. As quickly as she had fallen she had gotten up turn around to face the animal that her called her and blushed. It was not like she wasn't doing this already but it came apparent that it had grew slightly bigger. Awkwardly she side step out of the way of the female, unsure what to do. Her stood a female that look completely different from her. She seemed to match this weather perfectly and little Aspen rubbed her eyes in reaction of this to see if she was dreaming. "I...um..." she spoke softly stuttering unsure what to say and with each word her face grew warmer.

Speaking to other after being so embarrassed was not her strong suit, unless she knew them and then it was still pretty difficult. Manners. where was her manners. She bowed and looked up to the other female. "I'm Aspen Baker Fin, and yes....I'm fine." she said in a soft whisper. She was unsure to do. The other female looked strong, ready to deal with this switch of season, and her she did not. She embody everything that dealt with spring, summer, and fall. Nothing on her represented the cold harsh weather of winter and yet in front of her there was someone who embody it all. Aspen wasn't sure if she was envious of this female or felt sorrow for her. Envious because she could deal with this weather or the sorrow part because she probably didn't get to experience what she to in the other season of the year. She blinked shaking herself out of this trance. "May I ask what is you name, miss?" she said hoping that the other female didn't take offense that she had been staring.

Freja took a step back, barely noticing she frightened Aspen for a little bit. She smiled a bit, bowing slightly back. The white was slowly fading into the background as she focused on the lone green before her. "Aspen," she curiously repeated, obllivious of any staring at all, "I'm Freja, and it relieves me that you're okay..." She flicked her tiny tail a little and carefully looked around. "But what are you doing out here? Isn't it... cold?" She inquired worriedly. She could tell just a little of how Aspen wasn't really enjoying the weather - But Freja herself knew all the reasons to. She had once been like that as a kit, after all, but harsh traditions and cruel laws of the north had only strengthened her to this day, and for that, she was thankful. Her memories soon faded as she kept on at the current, now wondering if Aspen, like the flora among fauna, had the same reason to dislike the winter.

It seemed that the other female had not notice that she was staring, which was good. She looked down quickly and let out a little sigh. She wouldn't been able to forgive herself if the female did notice her. Her mother and father pride their self that they had well behaved children and she didn't want to disappoint them even if they were no where to be found. Freja. It sounded pretty and she rolled the name around in her head a few more time before shaking her head to get herself of the trance. She wondered if her name came from nature like hers did. Maybe a snow related creature just as her came from a summer related one. A tree, just like her brother and father's names. She smiled up the other female and nodded. "Yes, Miss Freja I am found. I thank you that you were worried about me but there is no need too." she said finishing her words with a small nod of appreciation.

As she ask her question, the smaller female looked away. Her face already glowing read from embarrassment. She surely couldn't tell her she was out her to watch her friends past along. That she was already waiting for the next season to come for the could come back to life. She just couldn't. It would be just to weird. She looked up and then back down unsure to say. "I um...was here to see...them um...change of season?" she said pretty unsure. It was almost the full story. Enough to fill the answer she needed.

Turning her head ever so slightly, Freja nodded. She seemed a little unfamiliar with being addressed as 'miss', but she wasn't one to complain, it was new to her, and she didn't mind. She wondered if Aspen's family had similar shades of green and gold, or any relations to trees beyond her own it was a curious little thought. "It's nothing. The well being of others has always been of my concern." It was half true though, as her culture had an extreme sense of cruelty towards those who couldn't move on, or had the strength to keep living - it was like a cold policy of leaving them behind for the wintery death for the young and old, but Freja, never one to break the rules, had taken in kits before to at least save them from harsher storms by providing for them, even if it was for the smallest amount of time. It was a pity that some would die then in her care, her having been too late to aid their frail struggle against the mountains. Freja held herself from the inner anger having built from the tragic young lives lost and tried to keep still, concentrating on Aspen with a small smile.

"Is that so...? Has winter settled for a long time?" She flicked her tail of snow again, wondering how fast the seasons changed. "Do... Do you know when 'spring' would come, then? I have heard many rumors of it, and I've yet to see 'spring' in the lowlands here, and it's been my dream to see it at least once." She weakly grinned, admitting her inexperience outside of her homelands.

As the other female talk, Aspen ear began to perk. If was thing that let her down it was her curiosity and what this female had just said made her go wild. She wondered why been of her concern. Maybe because of where she lived. Which lead her to think about the place this female was from. If she was dress for this season then that meant she had to come from a place that lived in this harsh condition all year long. Which made Aspen frown. She couldn't think about living in this season all year long. She moved back in fear of her own thoughts. Shaking her head lightly, she placed a paw on her cheek, which was red once again in embarrassment. "I'm sorry Miss Freja, I didn't mean to move back I was engross in my thought and they happen to frighten me." she said lowering her head. She hated it when that happen. It happen to often and she only wish that she could control it. Moving back to where she was she smiled up to the female trying to make her feel a bit more comfortable.

She shook her head in response of her question. But what she said next made her whole body grow numb. She felt bad, horrible even. This poor lady came all this way to be disappointed. Aspen looked away with tears lightly forming in her eyes. She wasn't sure why this was effecting her so much, maybe because she couldn't bare to think about spending all her life in the snow only to come see something different and still see the season you always see. She frown and sallow the liquids the was forming in her mouth. Wiping away her tears she looked back to the female. "Again I'm sorry Miss Freja, I'm not sure what coming over me." she said choking a bit to get the rest of the thought out. "Um...I'm so sorry to say but it won't come for a little while. This season just started and it takes a least 60 moons to begin the process of spring."she looked away after talking. Unsure if she wanted to see the female's reaction.

Her ears perked a little as she noticed Aspen's response, her change in color, a shade that erminded her of warmth and fire. Red, she reminded herself - most colors weren't acknowledged in the tribe, but one would have to learn eventually, as she did. "I-It's fine," She tried to reassure Aspen, but for some reason, the green girl wasn't that comfortable with something. Oh, maybe she was zoning her out with her strange questions too much... Freja only hoped she wasn't pressing on too much or being too assertive with Aspen.

She tilted her head a little to see what was wrong, shocked with Aspen's sudden shaking answer, ears a little lowered. She had come too early? It wasn't like her people didn't keep time, but among her blood, for some reason, her kin had a bad sense of it. "60 moons..." She repeated slowly, smiling a bit. "Well, I know it will be worth the wait, Aspen!" She was now eager to see it more than ever, and it only seemed like she was never disappointed in the answer. Suddenly, an idea lit her face up more with the utmost optimism in her next suggestion. "Oh, I know! Maybe we can wait for it together, if that's fine with you."

She was surprise that the other female was trying to help her after backing up in terror. Most would think she was either scared of them or insane, but yet she was different. Which was nice. "Oh...Thank you Miss Freja, for being so understand." she said with a small sigh. She was so bad talking to others. It was a weak point that she had to work on, if she wanted to gain more friends.

She frown softly, trying to keep her eyes off of Freja as she knew that her answer would make her awfully sad. She wanted to help but she knew she couldn't do anything until the change of seasons. She didn't expect that Freja would take it so well and this smile a bit. She was strong, very strong because something like this would have broken, little Aspen heart. "Yes, spring is magnificent season. My favorite by far as everything is beautiful and is everyone is reborn once again." she said smiling at the thought of the past spring she had seen as a young kit. What the female said next excited her. She didn't expect a question like that so soon, actually almost never at all. A small small lifted on her face. "I would love that Miss Freja. I could show you around if you like. I lived in this forest for all my life so I know where the prettiest places are, if you would like to see them." she said a bit excited.

She nodded a bit, unsure of the sense of assurance around them. Maybe she wasn't used to peace - it was certainly different from fending herself from wildlife and other neighbouring tribes.

"Spring..." She attempted to imagine the vivid colors and lively life around - the exact opposite of her childhood. Bird chirping about instead of howling winds, flowers and grass in place of snow, sunlight cast over her face instead of frost - thank goodness there won't be any more of those rare wolf howls during the harsh nights. She blinked as she caught an alien word, blinking. "Reborn," she repeated, "Reborn..." She son forgot about the word as Aspen gave her a reply. "Yes, that would be most lovely! Thank you very much, Aspen, I hope you don't mind me following you around just to show me around the forest..."

The little female cocked her head as the bigger once pronounced "reborn" more then once. She wonder what was going on in the other female head. Maybe she was excited, or confused by the wording Aspen had use. She gasp a little, she had forgotten that not everyone used the same language at her and frown. How could she be so rude. She shook her head and let it slightly passed off. From what she could tell from the female it didn't bother her too much so, she shouldn't let it bother her.

She look to her as she spoke and smiled. She had never had someone to follow her around and wonder how it would be when she did. "Yes, sure that would be most lovely. I wouldn't mind at all. Would you like to to go to the filed of flowers? I'm often there and it's where I feel the most at home at." she said with a bright smile.

Freja grinned a bit, excited airs all about her just shouting out her hardly contained happiness. "A field? That would be most delightful!" The fields hidden in the valley of her mountainous homelands were mostly frozen over, dead, but often a place for her to make small dens underground for hiding young kits that may have needed aid. She had never encountered a field of living flowers, and it absolutely must be nice to be able to live freely without one's kind ruled of expectations. "Please, show me the way."
