Cedric
"A few." The city was fine with him, but the question was where. He couldn't imagine that Serenade was used to that many kinds of food and the restaurants in the kingdom were often... outlandish. Most of them were straight out except for the Honeydrop Cafe, which he hesitated to take her to due to the sweetness but there wasn't really much of an alternative. Anywhere else either served rather... "exotic" food or food she probably wouldn't agree with. The cafe would probably be quiet, though... right? After all, chances are their normal patrons were at the carnival, so hopefully the smell wouldn't be too intoxicating. Their preferred patrons did, after all, tend to be the sort that would come to an event like this.
"I know a nice cafe in the city. We can head there." Probably, it would be the best they could do. The kingdom had so many weird places and while variety wasn't bad, it made things a little bit... troublesome at times.

The Umbreon nodded curtly, perfectly fine with the suggestion. She was only vaguely sure of what a cafe was, but she knew it involved food and thus it was a perfectly acceptable location to her. Thinking back on how she'd wound up here, she couldn't think of a nicer Pokemon to be her first friend. Friends right? They were now sorta? Her definition of friends was somewhat lost in translation with her own knowledge and what she'd been taught. Loosely she saw it as two companions that helped eachother in some way or another. Or perhaps they weren't. She'd hardly helped him. Though he'd helped her plenty. "Thank you again." She said quickly before she lost the nerve. "If I hadn't found you in the woods I'd probably be-" The thought went unfinished, she couldn't even say the word, it was so terrifyingly dreadful. Serenade frowned at what could have happened before smiling in amusement at what had. "So what's this place called? Is it far?"

Cedric
"It's fine, it's fine." Whatever the case, the Persian seemed oblivious to the dim but brief mood that had taken the Umbreon. It was hard to tell whether or not it was willfully so, but he genuinely seemed to be a "good guy" so it was hard to say which. "It's a nice cafe my friend runs. It's called the Honeydrop Cafe. It won't take us that long to get there and they serve good food, so we should be able to get you something there." It was, of course, Cedric's favourite place to eat in the kingdom both because it was operated by a friend and because he genuinely enjoyed the food there. Not only did they live up to their name well, but the more "normal" food they served was excellent as well. Moreso than any other place, it was the best he could think of to take Serenade. The Frosty Diner probably wouldn't agree with her and the Cocoa Cafe had the same problem as the Honeydrop Cafe did but many times worse.
Cedric took off at a mild trot in what he was pretty sure was the general direction of the city. It was so easy to get turned around in places like this.

Serenade was quick to bound along behind the feline, her own long limbs easily keeping pace with him despite their being a good inch or so height difference. Even as an Eevee she'd been long in the limbs, a clumsy thing always toddling along after her older brothers. Inwardly she wished she could tell them about the fair, but of course that was impossible now. To go back would be not be a death sentence, it would be far worse. It would ridicule, insults, she'd be degraded until she all but preferred death to the kind of pain that words can inflict. It was not an injury of the flesh but of the heart and she was a gentle creature by nature despite her carnivorous tendencies. It would kill her, at least in some sense. Shaking her head she rid herself of the thoughts. None of that mattered anymore. She'd gotten away fine and she was about to begin a new life elsewhere with a possible new friend. It was going splendid, no need to dwell. You only dwelled when you had regrets and she would never regret leaving home. "Oh? Your friend? Are they nice?" It was a cautious question. More to the point, 'will they be nice to me too?'.

Cedric
Cedric took care to match his own pace to Serenade's, though it quickly became apparent that such effort was unnecessary. The Umbreon, in spite of her previously rather ill nature was doing quite fine now and more than capable of matching his pace, as relaxing as it was. "She is." Cedric gave a quick nod. In spite of what her body suggested, anyways... "She's quite young and very nice. She's not very worldly, but she's a good person." Chelsea had been quite young when the team disbanded. She didn't look it now; not as a massive Ursaring but she was still quite a gentle, naive person. Knowing her now as he did it would be a wonder if she ever grew up, but that wasn't really a bad thing either--she was a good person. She wasn't needy or irrational, she was just very simple and very nice.
"I'm not sure if she'll be there, though." He added the comment as an afterthought and then quickly glanced about. "She might be here somewhere instead, she likes this sort of thing. The cafe will definitely be open, though, they're open seven days a week." It was good business sense, apparently.

Serenade's tail swished thoughtfully and she hopped forward to continue to match Cedric's pace. Thinking and walking at the same time tended to leave her a bit slow when it came to reflexes. As she had pondered his answer the Persian had slipped ahead a good few feet but she easily rejoined him upon realizing. "Oh, that's nice." She commented lightly, before glancing down to her paws and thinking over what he'd said. She'd never had friends before, so she wasn't exactly sure what to say on the matter aside from politely murmuring when needed. For the most part she simply followed after the feline with careful steps less she stumble on a stone or something silly as she was prone to do. "Are we about there then?"

Cedric
"It's not far. We'll be there before too long."
---
Well, as it turned out Cedric's ideas of distance and time were a little skewed. While you couldn't call it a "long" time by any means it certainly wasn't a "short" way away either. The Persian had spent all of his time traveling around on his own accord, so to him it genuinely wasn't very far away. Even before that, he always went about his life at a relatively relaxed pace having been free of the burdensome nature of clans or society since he was fairly young. Regardless of his poor sense of time however, Cedric and Serenade would find themselves in front of the cafe in relatively short order.
It was a nice, friendly looking building just as you would expect it to be and much to Cedric's surprise the typical, intoxicatingly sweet smell that usually wafted about the store was much more stifled than it usually was. And, even better than that, the cafe was entirely empty as far as clientele went. They typically catered to teenage girls and younger children with their parents as opposed to independent adults, so the festival had probably pulled away all their business for the day--they were open all the same though.
All they had to do was find a place to sit and chances are they'd have someone with them shortly. A small bell in the kitchen rang whenever the front door opened or closed, so if there was ANYONE in the cafe they would notice soon enough.

The Umbreon hardly said a word the rest of the walk to the cafe and even upon entering it she glanced around with that expression of awe without a sound. She waited patiently for Cedric to pick a seat and once he did she slipped into the booth across from him. It was a nice place. It had a homey smell that, although she found it a bit too sweet for her liking, only helped to make the entire place seem more warm and welcoming. She found herself drifting into a comfortable haze until she noted the menu laying before her. Serenade raised a paw to hesitantly flip it open and stare at it in such an intense manner that she have very well been trying to solve some puzzle or another. Her green eyes shifted from the menu to Cedric and then back again before she finally sighed and, scuffing her paws in embarrassment, explained her predicament without even meaning to. "...do they have anything with meat and very little honey?" She couldn't read. Not that she'd come out and admit it so easily. It shamed her to even have to accept the fact herself. Reading had not been big in her culture, they had no need to read when there was so much work to be done. Anything that needed to be taught, any message to be delivered, was done so orally without need for letters on paper.

Cedric
Cedric let out a small laugh. "They've got lots of good stuff here, don't worry." The honey was, after all, optional and there were plenty of carnivores and omnivores within the city so of course the business had something that would suit her tastes. It wasn't long before a bored and sleepy-eyed waitress appeared to take their order and return with it in short order. It was simply fish that had been fried lightly and had had a small amount of light honey sauce drizzled on top. It was simple and not particularly interesting, but the taste was a small yet pleasant shift from the usual fare that either of them would find in the wild.
With food in their stomachs and an entire city along with the guild that remained unexplored, of course the next question was obvious; "Where do you want to go next?" They could take a (likely abridged) journey throughout the guilds so that she could see the various facilities, or they could head directly to the office. She needed to go there one way or another if she was going to be a part of the guild, of course.

A tongue flicked out of her mouth to swipe the remnants of honey from her muzzle, truth be told she hadn't disliked the sweetness as much as she'd previously thought she would. She'd never had anything too sweet before, berries aside, the food in her clan was primarily simple. Little to no seasoning and most of the main diet was raw meat which tasted the same regardless of what little plant lif you sprinkled on it. Green hues darted over to Cedric briefly before she redirected her gaze forward to the guild building that was steadily growing closer. She'd stalled enough and Serenade knew if she didn't hurry and do what she planned then she'd lose what little nerve she had left. The food had helped calm her down but did nothing to stop the tense feeling that pulled taut across her chest. "...the main office...I think." A tour would be nice, after she signed up officially. Otherwise she might be too intimidated by the atmosphere and bolt.

Cedric
"Alright." Although the confirmation came in words it had first been shown in action as Cedric raised his pace slightly to move through the empty streets. The dim city lights kept the ground beneath them lit and their shadows stretched in every direction from the different lamps and lanterns. It was peaceful and quiet with most pokemon having settled in quietly if they weren't at the fair, leaving the only sound that of a gentle breeze that slipped through the fur or rattled the rare chime. It was something very normal and comfortable for Cedric, leaving him feeling quite at home as he softly padded through the streets towards the ever-growing guild.
The main office, rather predictably, was rather close to the front of the building. Cedric slipped through the large, almost-always open doors into the Main Hall. The journey to the destination was a short one that was marked by a few stray glances and pokemon along with the terribly foreign and unusual structure of the large building they were now in. A long since familiar sight to Cedric, he could still remember how vast and strange it had seemed when he first entered. Regardless, however, the office was still a short way away and although the words that hung above the doorway would prove worthless to many wild pokemon, the distinct appearance of the room within left little to the imagination.
