Personality Traits: Malis is decently smart though she chooses not to show it, preferring to act a little more dense so that others will explain things to her easier, an aspect of her 'secretive' behavior. Much like the living underground/on the streets she has cultivated an appearance that is not like her inner self. Maybe it's a protective filter or just because if people stop using flowery script to get their point across then they get to the true meaning of what they want to say, I am not quite sure yet. She is a good listener and is one to go to for advice though she does have unusual ways to explain herself. Quite fun loving and very social on the surface, Malis enjoys to chat with other people to find out what makes them tic and learn new customs. She can be almost childlike in reactions, her unabated curiosity flavors all her thoughts and doings. The teen has a passion to explore and meet new people. She is not one to give away secrets or gossip and once her loyalty has been won she is fiercely protective of them. This can also mean that if she finds someone or something worthy of her attentions she will be loyal to them, whether they like it or not. She is very spiritual, in the respect that she believes that the Spirits are what guides her path, often letting them choose of her in cases where she cannot decide herself. This is something she learned from her great uncle who is a shaman within the Navajo tribe. It is common to see her spin around with her eyes closed and then start off in the direction she ends up facing. She does not see anything wrong with choosing this way and firmly believes that the Spirits probably know a lot better about the right decision than she, herself, does. After an accident while white water rafting and being bashed against a few rocks and unable to keep herself a float in the rapids, Malis hates the water and has decided nothing good has ever come of it. Because of this she almost has an irrational fear of getting wet. This made bath-time a rather eventful one when she was younger. Still as a young adult she has an aversion to having her face covered in water and will shower but never take a bath. She never learned how to swim and has no desire to.
Virtues: Gregarious: If you looked up this word in the dictionary you would find Malis' face. She will attempt to make friends with almost anyone, no matter your status or position in life. Even people who seem like they would be on the wrong side of the tracks will receive a friendly hug or a bright smile as she believes deep down inside everyone just needs to be shown they can be a good person. She always gives people a chance to prove their goodness, no matter what they might have done in the past. Malis can be a fast friend and woe betide anyone who then crosses one of her friends. She can be quite protective over them and will often come to blows if there is a need. The exception to this is if two of her friends are fighting. First she'll try and step in and 'mediate' if it escalates from there she usually ends up throwing up her hands, yelling at both parties and storming off.
Easy going: No matter what happens, Malis is your friend, she cannot hold a grudge. She might not agree with you on certain points and be the first to argue them at the top of her lungs or with her fists but the next time she sees you it is as if the disagreement never happened. Everyone deep down inside is a good person, they didn't mean to stab that old lady, they were just very hungry and didn't know any better. Malis is always ready to 'teach' them a better path, sometimes with 'hard love' if necessary but it is impossible for Malis to hold a grudge when someone does something to her own person as she believes that whatever the spirits hold for her was a lesson for her (whether she listens to it or not is another story) This makes her incredibly flexible with her plans. If something doesn't happen she will just shrug and then move on. There is always something else fun to do!
Devout: Malis believes in a world full of spirits and ancestors. She picked it up from her great uncle who is a shaman of the Navajo tribe and has built it up into her very own belief system. Her parents are not sure why Teresa's uncle's shamanism beliefs suddenly took a hold on their daughter but as they always held the thought that their children could do as they pleased as long as they were not hurting another it wasn't an issue. She firmly feels that the spirits are what guides her and her her own totem which she carried with her at all times. While this system is not directly found in history it has become a conglomerate of belief systems that Malis has discovered and is ever changing. If Malis has decided a new aspect of her belief it becomes retroactive and if anyone questions her it will usually end in tears (not hers) Her willing to discuss said beliefs are dependent to their attitude about it. If they are just curious and ask questions ect. she will sit down with them and chat (to a point) if they are in her face about their own beliefs and don't acknowledge hers then she'll just yell back at them. It is this belief system that carries her through her day, the force that will keep her coming back for more during fights. Many of her decisions are made considering this system, sometimes even things as small as what to eat for breakfast to the bigger decisions on whether to trust the new shadowy being who has taken up lodgings in the alleyway across the street from the library. The downside: The majority of her family is either strong catholic or bible-thumping christian which means Malis' belief system is a point of contention with the rest of the extended family. It has started a few battles when certain members come to visit, comments are made, things have been said and family events have been 'ruined' by Malis' stubbornness on this one thing. She has gotten into trouble a few times when light questioning has erupted into shouting matches. (see below)
Flaws: Aggressive: The flip-side of being passionate, Malis can be quite aggressive in the fact that she is not very eloquent and is more likely to answer a challenge/argument with her fists rather than her words. While see has a long fuse (see easy-going above) she has a sharp temper and if provoked is not against hitting. She fights like a guy and her size is not something to be trifled with. It's not that she is usually the first to throw the first punch but rather she isn't afraid to get down and dirty if needed. Usually it's someone bullying someone else or some other perceived inequality of power that triggers most of the fights she has been in. (e.g she might be in a bar or something and a big guy will start posturing to push off a smaller guy. She'll think nothing of it to push in the middle and 'protect' the smaller guy.) Malis has gotten into a -lot- of trouble with her temper and has made a few friends at the local sheriffs department with how many times she has been taken in. Luckily no one has ever gotten seriously hurt and she is smart enough not to throw the first punch so currently she does not have a record. She has been cautioned by her parents that as an adult now in the eyes of the law she needs to be a little more careful.
Secretive: She has her quirks and the front of being very easy going is her way of protecting them from the outside world. The way she sees it, she has a dark side that sometimes comes out when she fights, her open and gregarious nature is her way of keeping it in check (in denial maybe?) Most people won't even notice she is being secretive because she seems open and always willing to tell someone a grand story or the like but many times they are exactly what they are, stories. Sometimes she will elaborate a little too much on the actual events to make them seem more exciting, sometimes she will leave out small little details that she doesn't want people to know... If anyone caught wind of her 'vigilante' activities they would probably try and step in and stop her, something else she doesn't want happening. The last thing she keeps a secret is her hording tendencies in the respect that she is terrified if someone worked out exactly what her weaknesses were then they would be able to use that against her. (see below)
Possessive: This one isn't exactly what it seems. Malis is the type of person who would be willing to give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. However there are a few items she owns that she clings to a little more than is normal. A stuffed animal she has owned since she was one, a few keepsakes in a wooden chest that has a layer of dust on the lid and other little assortments of items. Some of these she carries with her where ever she goes, a leather totem worn around her neck containing a few worn crystals, a key fob given to her by her grandmother of a duck, the white feathers warn off with age. Most, no matter what shape or form are checked daily to make sure they are secure and in a safe place. This has become almost a ritual for her and she has trouble focusing if she worried if they might be threatened. She also refuses to cut her hair for this reason, fearing that she would loose her connection to the spirits. While these items seem innocuous, if lost or threatened with damage the world stops for her and she will do all within her power to get them back into her care. While she tries not to make it obvious, if someone found out about her weakness the knowledge could be used against her. Later on there is a good chance she will develop that same possessive nature for her senshi when she becomes connected to him/her. Messing knowingly with her 'possessions' is definitely a trigger to her aggression.
Other: Phobia of water: Malis almost drowned while on a camping trip with her family. (White water rafting as a kiddlet, she fell out of the boat and then survived the rapids after getting bashed against the rocks a few times. She was lucky to not have broken any bones.) This gave her a large scar on her arm (which is covered by a tattoo) and a big unhealthy fear of the wet stuff. While she has gotten well enough to be able to bathe and keep herself clean she will only shower when she absolutely has to and cannot have her face covered in water. This is another reason why she usually keeps her hair in dreads, less need to wash her hair. Many simple jobs like dishwasher, vet aid, working with food or kids, or any other job that requires either cleanliness or high levels of dirt (which would mean she'd need to shower after) are not something she is able to handle doing for any period of time and there is no way she will visit a beach or another large river where the horizon is mostly water. There are many activities she cannot do because of her fear, travel is one of them if it means she would be going near large bodies or water or wide rivers. It also means that if someone was to attack her with water she would be practically useless.
Hobbies: Sketching: Malis loves to sketch. She usually has a pencil and paper close by and will often doodle on napkins if nothing else is available. She isn't -amazing- but the quick little doodles in her own style is something she enjoys to do. A few months ago she saved up a lot of money from her job and bought herself a tablet for her computer. She is very proud of it and calls it her baby, using it to transfer her sketching to the internet communities. Her goal is to have her own online webcomic and become famous.
Costuming: Malis has a slight obsession which is the world of Anime or more correctly, the clothing of the Japaneses animes. She is pretty good at looking through the thrift shops and designing costumes to wear as well as sketching them out on paper, though she isn't quite as good as following a pattern and making things from scratch. Along with the fairy-tales she grew up with her love of what the characters wore is something she always asked about. Of course, she usually identifies with the males of a story so cross-play is a favorite but any excuse to dress up is a good excuse. Her birthday is also on Halloween, how perfect could it be!
Favorite Food: Meat, beef, pork, rabbit, she isn't as fond of chicken or other fowl. Least Favorite Food: Nuts, except for maybe cashews.

Parents: Malis' father is Daniel Vitterfolk, his family is mostly American mutt but there is a strong Scandinavian line in his genetics (and family name) Her mother is Teresa, born Teresa Amaechi and of Native American and African American descent. The extended family is huuuuuge on both sides and are usually quite meddlesome. Daniel and Teresa were high school sweethearts. They fell in love early on but during her senior year Teresa fell pregnant. Their families were up in arms, forbade them from seeing each other, in fact Daniel did not even know Teresa kept Kiowa until a few years later. He went on to college and got a technical degree becoming an electrician. When he found out about his daughter he came back into Teresa's life, went down upon one knee and asked her to marry him on the spot. She agreed and they have been together since. Now Teresa works at the local supermarket when she isn't playing taxi, maid or nurse. Daniel has a steady job in the electrical union. It pays the bills and food on the table but they couldn't randomly pay for expensive trips and the like. Both have strong work ethics and have tried to show their children you can be happy with the little things in life than the newest game, toy or gadget.
Siblings: Kiowa Mari Deshnel - Named after her grandmother, Kiowa was an accident, yet very much loved. Her parents were not prepared to raise a kid and for much of her infant life she was taken care of by her namesake as Teresa worked to provide for her daughter. Married to Trevor Deshnel, she has three children, Zaniya, Connor and Vanessa. Older by six years, she was married when she turned 21 and is quite happy to be a stay-at-home mother. The Deshnel family lives in sunny California and often plagues Malis and Nekali to come visit. Nekali Lucile Vitterfolk - Malis' baby sister. She is only 13 and was a surprise to all. She is incredibly girly and adores anything to do with unicorns and pretty things. Malis calls her, her little princess. Nekali and Malis often play together when Malis is at home, usually dress-up or some kinda of make-believe game. There was a period of time when Malis did not get along with her older sister, Kiowa, but 'Kali has always been her favorite of the two. 'Kali looks up to Malis as she is the sister she has the most contact with. Because of this, Malis is very careful to only show her good side to her little sister. If Nekali ever found out about her sister moonlighting as a super hero, Malis would make sure to paint it in the best of lights.
Home: Chaotic is the best way to describe it. The walls are covered in photos and artwork of/from the children. There is usually half finished projects, tools, clothes scattered all over the place though it is decently clean. Teresa tries to keep the home at least dust and dirt free when she can.
Family Life: Wild and crazy is the start. This family is huge and usually has the extended family visiting. The feud and shock of Teresa's early pregnancy has healed over time and now both sides of the family seem to use the Vitterfolk house as a meeting ground.
Job: Unemployed for now as most jobs she cannot handle due to either needing to wash hands frequently or being too messy. She is looking into going into the carpenters union.
