Kiran leaned against the side of the stall as he listened to Li. Unique circumstances? It probably wasn't any of his business to pry into what she meant by that. Thinking on it, he guessed that all families had unique circumstances since no family was exactly alike. But it left him wondering what sort of circumstances her family had. "I guess I'm just not used to a life with such little free time," he said, rolling a shoulder. But perhaps he wasn't that far off from having little free time. He did get to relax sometimes, but more of his time was being taken up by responsibilities of growing up. "You don't have to make anything special for me." He shook his head though a light smile remained on his face. He didn't want to seem like he was pressuring her into making something just for him.

Kiran grinned at her reply. "Of course, when the opportunity arises," he agreed. He would be happy to have a good sparring partner. Not that the other recruits were bad partners or anything, but he liked seeing what kind of fighting styles other people used. Every new fight or spar was a good learning experience, though some of those fights did more damage to his ego than physically harming him. The random scuffles that he got into as a student at the Academy didn't compare to the real battles that he fought now that he was officially in the Noble camp.

When he finished telling his story, he saw that their food had arrived. Kiran gave a nod and smile to the server as he took his food. The grin returned to his face as he turned back to Li. "It would be a lie if I didn't mention it," he said before taking a bite of a dumpling. After swallowing, he laughed at the end of the comment. He stole what didn't belong to him, and she gave away what she owned. That made them sound like a perfect pair. "Oh, a second date?" He gave her a teasing wink. But she was right about not learning everything about each other at once. It would take time for that. He took a glance around and frown. "I don't see a flower shop around here. I could have bought you a rose." That seemed like something a man would do on a date: buy the lady a flower.

"I know I don't have to, Kiran." Li gave him a look that was somewhere between lightly amused and genuinely curious. He seemed rather modest and selfless for a thief! "I choose to offer because I believe in what you do, no more, no less." Really, he'd been such a fantastic model for her when she'd been out on her own on their first meeting, it seemed unthinkable that she wouldn't want to work with him later on. That type of frankess was refreshing in a life full of secrets!

Laying no further response to the mention of sparring, she simply bowed her head in acknowledgement, not wanting to speak too openly of it. Instead, she focused on the food, making quick work of the first skewer. It wasn't that she was messy or even without manners when she ate; she just knew the value of being quick to enjoy a hot meal when it came to her, because --

The Lunarian's earfins lifted as she heard her name being called, eyes keenly turned to the opposite side of the dock. She could make out one of her dock-friends waving and indicating she should follow before disappearing into the crowd, making her sigh with exasperation, as a mother might do to an overbearing child. Immediately turning an apologetic smile to the light-haired man, she put aside her mostly eaten food, stating, "It seems our date must come to an abrupt end, I'm afraid." The Legionnaire motioned down the dock, opposite the way they'd come from where she'd run into Kiran. "I'm being summoned." She chuckled then, rueful; if they were just going to heckle her for being seen with a guy, she was going to drown them. All of them.

"But should you desire a second date, I wouldn't refuse a flower from a gentleman." Li casually blended the line between flirting and polite response, though the slight curve of her lips and lift of brow indicated she might have been inviting the notion. "Thank you for your time again, Kiran. It's been a pleasure -- and perhaps should we run into each other again, we can avoid workspaces."

Who was he to argue if Li wanted to make something special for him? If she was going to insist on it, then Kiran would let her. "I don't have anything special in mind, so you can make whatever comes to your mind." He rolled a shoulder in an uncertain shrug. He really couldn't think of anything specific to request from her, but he felt sure that anything she crafted for him would look amazing. If she could make a random piece of driftwood look like a masterpiece, then he thought she could do just about anything.

Kiran glanced toward the caller as well when he heard the Lunarian shout out Li's name. It was disappointing to have her called away so soon. But work was work, and he would have to return to his job as well. He released a sigh, sounding rather depressed over her departure. "The days shall seem a little darker until next we meet," he said, placing his free hand on his chest like it pained him to see her leave.

Then he gave a little bow to her. "Is there a flower the lady much prefers?" He never bought flowers for a woman, at least not one that wasn't related to him, though even then he didn't often get flowers for his sister or mother. Roses seemed like an obvious choice of flowers, although rather cliched. And who was to say that Li even liked roses? He would hate to present her with a flower that she hated or was perhaps allergic to. He stood up straight again, wearing a cheerful smile. "No need to thank me. It was as much a pleasure for me as well."

The Legionnaire smiled, rocking on her heels a bit. "We'll see what I can come up with, then." Li smiled, though her expression slowly warmed into a grin, one she tried to repress at Kiran's theatrics. The man was fun, there was no doubt about that, and for a moment, she believed him. A flirty remark played over Li's lips, but she wisely kept it to herself, simply basking in the attention that was so foreign but entirely enjoyable.

Glancing back over her shoulder, she started to retreat down the dock, walking backwards so he could hear her still. "I've never been given a flower -- surprise me, good sir!" Li allowed another brief grin to flit across her features as she began to turn, lifting her hand to wave to him. Had they just agreed to a date -- a real date? A second date? She wasn't entirely sure, but she knew that she had fun with the light-hearted ship-building and that was really more than she could ever hope for in such dour times. "Until then, dear Kiran!" And she turned with a flip of her pale hair and disappeared into the crowd, still basking in the glow of an afternoon well spent.
