The lights in the arena went dark until the USMC Eagle, Globe and Anchor emblem appeared on the blackened titantron screen before the background appeared to burn away, leaving a field of scarlet red in its place with the words Major Devastation above and below the ensignia in gold, military-style block lettering while
Warrior by Disturbed began blasting over the PA system. Once the scarlet background on the screen was revealed, the arena lighting was replaced by mood lighting in a matching shade of red, alternating with gold to the beat of the music.
The Marine emerged from the tunnel with both of the Open The Twin Gate championship belts draped over his shoulders and the EWA Sprocket Championship strapped around his waist as the lyrics to the song began. With a somber expression on his face, Major slowly made his way down the ramp with none of his usual fanfare, not even stopping to trigger his pyro display.
As he reached the side of the ring, the Devil Dog climbed the steel steps to get up to the apron and stepped between the top and middle ropes to enter the ring itself. Instead of climbing the turnbuckles to play to the crowd, the CWL Open The Twin Gate and EWA Sprocket Champion asked the ring attendant for a microphone before motioning for his music to be cut.
Judging by the look on his face, it would appear that he was to be the bearer of bad news...
Major raised the mic to speak, but ended up getting choked up before he could get any words out. Several moments later, upon gathering his composure, he tried again. "
As I'm sure most of you have heard by now, my best friend and tag partner, Captain Kaos was involved in a serious motorcycle accident over the weekend and is currently lying in the ICU at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. As of this morning, he is still comatose, and it is unknown when he will come out of it. That coupled with the several months of rehabilitation for his laundry list of other injuries related from the accident means that he is unlikely to be medically cleared to compete any time soon...therefore it is with great regret that, on behalf of the Misfits In Action, I must relinquish the CWL Open The Twin Gate championships."
Shocked and confused expressions could be seen throughout the crowd after Major made his announcement, and hushed whispers filled the arena as Devastation slipped the tag gold from his shoulders, and took one last, long look at the championship that he and Captain Kaos had won from the Unholy Alliance several months back, before planting a kiss on the center plate of his half of the titles and handing them to the ringside attendant.
"
I have one more announcement to make tonight... Back in October at EWA:Unlimited's Slasherslam Pay-Per-View event, in one of the most brutal, sick, and twisted matches ever conceived, I won the top prize in our parent company...no, the top prize in all of PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING HISTORY...the EWA SPROCKET CHAMPIONSHIP! With that being said, I have been called up to the main EWA:Unlimited roster full-time...I'm afraid that, barring the odd special appearance, this will be the last time you all will see me in a CWL ring.
I've enjoyed my time performing for each and every one of you fine people, and while I'll certainly miss competing here every Tuesday night, sooner or later everyone has to move on." With that, Major laid his mic in the center of the ring and slid out under the bottom rope as his music filled the arena one last time and the crowd erupted in a huge "THANK YOU MAJOR!!!" chant. The big Texan slowly made his way up the ramp for the final time in a CWL arena and as he got to the top, Major Devastation stopped, performed an about face, and saluted his fans before heading backstage.
