Location: Trine

The investigation would not be complete, of course, without a sweep through the Weyrs. It was an entirely voluntary option, to have one’s dwelling searched, but in such high stakes games and such high tensions, refusing to be searched or interviewed cast doubt on otherwise untarnished individuals. And so, the doors to private dwellings were thrown open across the Weyr and Riders would stand by as the investigators surveyed their things, were questioned and then left alone to feel mildly violated.

The sandy dugouts and single occupant bungalos of the Trine Weyrs were cozy, tropical, and seductive… or at least that what the bright-eyed V’nel believed as he stood at the door to his domain, done up nicely, complete with even freshly cut flowers and those curly seashells that sent girls into star-struck fantasies. Why yes, his room was a romantic getaway with hammock and fronds carefully stacked in one corner, the fragrant scents of tropical flowers drifting in the mellow breeze. Of course he had no reason to hide anything! Why would he? The more women he got through his door… well, the more he might brag. And any decided to stay…. Well maybe he might even whisper dear, sweet nothings into the beauty(/beauties’) ear.

His dragon had made a mockery of the entire thing and left in disgust. His rider was hot blooded, yes, but it was at times like this that he was reminded more of some preening bird of the jungles then the proud and fearless rider he so loved. The black could only wish this was done sooner rather the later and that his carefully arranged bed, with its floral petals and more comfortable sand was not disturbed.

Investigation Week 3

  • Only the NPC described in this post may be interviewed.
  • This is an ORP that will be lead by Staff - staff will be posting responses based on the posts received once or twice a day, each character can post as they want but the NPC response will not wait for all to post before answering.
  • Feel free to ask whatever questions that your character would ask!
  • Remember that this is an investigation about the Mystery Man who assassinated two ranking Riders and tried to kill a third.
  • A Hint: Look for relations between rumors and things said but remember not everyone knows the truth! Think about the answers you receive!

Set'al couldn't lie, this was a little awkward; searching people's rooms made him uncomfortable enough, but this particular room...unless he missed his guess, its occupant had purpossely done it up to, well, appeal to 'guests.' Which was fine and all, he liked 'guests' once in awhile too, but it was odd to be in another guy's...uh, well. You know. There was such a thing as knowing too much about someone, and he was pretty sure this qualified. In his book, anyway.

The bronzerider cleared his throat. "So, uh, heard anything interesting lately?"

Z’iv looked around the quarters with a slight smirk. Nice. Very nice. He then turned the smirk onto his fellow black rider, looking the man up and down quite openly. Nice. Very nice. “Wouldn’t mind coming back here under more friendly circumstances sometime, sweetheart,” he purred, sauntering over to a chest and opening it up. Clothes. Well, leave no shirt unturned! “All business for now though; did ya see anything interesting, or unusual on the day of the murder?” he added to Set’al’s line of questioning casually as he started sorting through the elder rider’s attire.

S'kagi didn't bother trying to hide the vigorous roll of his eyes as he surveyed the blackriders... well decorated home. Whatever his reputation might have been in drills, this made it all look like it was just more preening for his choice of bedfellows.
At the best of times he would have thought so, but in light of everything that had happened it left an further sour taste in his mouth. Three unsolved murders, accusations flying left and right, and the man's focus was on preening.

"...And by interesting no one is referring to weather or not so and so has an funny birthmark on their... rear." S'kagi added, critically, wondering briefly if it was possible to have mistaken a black for a blue in the right light, then quickly dismissing the idea. Accusing the man of involvement wouldn't do much if it couldn't be attributed to more than annoyance at the flippant attitude.

Cetalese kept her eyes on the surroundings and away from the Blackrider. Her close observation took in the sprucing up he had done as she moved into the room and began looking through the items on his small table. She ignored the clear signs that V'nel was one of those riders who liked to share his bedspace, mostly because it had no real bearing on the mystery and she had no interest in such things.

Her face faintly reflected amusement as Z'iv was the only one to openly respond to V'nel's attempt at making them... comfortable in his home. Zetath's rider could sometimes be sharp-- well, honestly, he was usually sharp and not so approachable, but he could be amusing in his own way at times. Ceta wasn't sure whether anyone was supposed to take that open-ended offer seriously or not, so she moved on as if she hadn't heard while the others began questioning him.

S'kagi's clarification of the others' questions showed that he'd had some experience with the ludicrous rumors of the weyr or what people would say if you made your questions too general.

"I'd be interested to know if any of those you... entertain, or you yourself, had heard anything about who the murderer was." Cetalese put aside a stack of scrolls and lifted some slate tablets.

S'kiro walked into the blackriders weyr, following behind the others. There seemed to be too much showy than anything else. He took on a light blush at the thought of how many women entered this area for fun. Giving the room a closer look, he noticed that even the blacks sleeping area was.. decorated as his riders was. S'kiro waited to hear the answers from V'nel before making any comments.

Cetalese glanced up at S'kiro walked in and offered a small nod. The table wasn't turning up anything incriminating. She moved on, to where Z'iv was sorting through the chest and took up a place beside him, taking the stack of clothes on the far side from where Z'iv was working. It seemed as if V'nel was just enjoying them, and she couldn't tell if he had reacted to Z'iv's reply yet.

"I hear you think you know something as well." Cetalese said quietly, not wanting to be overheard by the others searching the room-- or V'nel. The less attention she, the single girl in the room, got, the better. "Yet you haven't mentioned anything to the rest of us. Or even just those in our group." Not that T'rel had been about much lately; he tried, he really did, but Ceta thought that Lunath might be the one running that relationship. "Is it worth sharing now that we've had a few weeks to investigate?"

"Humm...." Z'iv smirked a bit to himself running hands hands over a fine silk shirt in the chest of clothes. "This is bigger than any of you know," he said after pause. "If the whispers I've heard are right this is more that assassination and attempted assassination, or you could say that the attacks were just the beginning. As to the specifics... how about I share with you a bit later on humm? We were assigned to work together after all."

V’nel gave a start as he heard a voice. By rogueish instinct, he cocked a winging grin, but his shoulders sagged slightly at the sight of the first visitor. Well, even if his visitor wasn’t of the female persuasion, he could at least be cordial for the time being. “Heard plenty,” he said affably, masking his disappointment. He might have added more, but Z’iv’s sudden arrival and warm greeting threw him for a loop and he did a doubletake at the blackrider. He raised his eyebrows and shook his head mildly, too distracted to focus. He had no dislike for other riders that swung a bit differently but he had long taken advantage of having a atypical and thus never having to compromise when it came to bedpartners. For now, he decided it was best to overlook the persuasive tone and stick to talking about the murder. “Can’t say I did. My money would be to keep an eye out for more than just that one rider though. I don’t know how anyone could have pulled all this off without help.”

V’nel’s eyes drifted as Cetalese entered the room, and her diverted attentions made it that much easier for him to eye her without caution. Well, that made the infiltration a lot nicer at any rate. “Nothing outstanding. I did have a, um, friend who was rather convinced Benden was at fault. It wouldn’t surprise me either.”

Oooh, rejected! Well, brushed off more than rejected, but that didn't mean he was going to leave off. For Z'iv not flirting with an unfamiliar attractive person was like trying to resist the urge to breathe; you could do it, but eventually body and instinct overwhelmed the brain and forced you to take a deep gasp and compliment their arse. Wasn't like he saw any reason to stop in any case!

"A friend hu?" the black-haired young man crooned to V'nel. "Must be nice to be a friend of yours! Humm, do you agree then, Benden? A Weyr-wide conspiracy? A gang of extremists? And why; what's the motive to attack three Weyrs, sweetheart?" Might others have been hit if the murderer hadn't bit the dust? Quite possibly, it wasn't like they - whoever 'they' were - would have kept on rolling.... Humm, but what had made them start with Benden, Malvren, and Trine? A good question, for sure, one he'd have to discuss with his group later on.

Cetalese glanced up quickly at Z'iv, clearly startled, but said nothing. Not much of a surprise, but there were benefits to those who held their words for important matters. In this case, it meant she didn't draw further attention to them at the startling implication. She nodded slightly at Z'iv's suggestion that the rest wait for later. Flirt he might be, but Ceta liked to think a Black would pick someone who was also clever.

"Are there no other options than Benden?" Brownrider B'ol's blatant prejudice of Benden had rather put her off the idea that the Benden riders were involved in this. It didn't mean it wasn't true, but... "Or the riders?"

Cetalese wouldn't shy away from the idea that riders were involved-- they were people like anyone else, and just as capable of making poor decisions-- but she didn't automatically assume it was them either. Or, if it was, she thought it was someone from a Weyr other than the three attacked. Why kill your own leaders when, as far as she knew, all were good to their people? "I had heard the murderer looked like the Holdless man, Flynn."

V’el shrugged and wandered back into the room, where he drifted innocently towards Cetalese. “Well I don’t know about conspiracies,” he responded toward Z’iv. “Maybe it wasn’t all of Benden behind it, but they’ve been sore for a while now – enough for someone to want to strike out. It could have been someone else I guess, but it’s hard to add up.” He cocked his head to the side and hooked a thumb in his pocket in casual consideration. “I’d have to say there’s at least one rider involved though,” he said more pointedly towards Cetalese. “I’ve heard there was an unfamiliar dragon spotted, maybe a blue, and it would take a dragon to whisk the killer in and out like that. I don’t know why a dragon would risk its rider that way, but maybe they were ordered to it. I don’t understand weyr politics, but they can be… heated.” He smiled slightly at the last, and the look he was giving the young woman in his room suggested it wasn’t just weyr politics on his mind.
