.:. Host Profile .:.
Name: Opiale
Gender: Female
Species: Helatom and Dwepior hybrid; An impure
Age: Mid to late twenties, comparably
Appearance:
As both Helatom and Dwepior are humanoid species (though one more so than the other), so is Opiale as a hybrid. Her features are primarily human (Helatom) but with a few Dwepior (reptilian) traits mixed among them.

Her features are all very long and angular. She is close to six feet tall and has an athletic build with fewer curves and more muscle - think small bust but strong torso and thighs. Her fingers and toes are long, bony and end with thick, sharp nails.

Her skin is a dark, warm brown but contrasted by reflective scales in varying shades of light gold that line certain portions of her body. The most heavy 'scaling' is along her spine and the areas that branch off of it, as well as somewhat down the center line of her body. It covers the 'T' zone of her face (replacing eyebrows with scales) and follows along the ridge of her nose. Her shoulders and thighs would both be covered and portions of her torso as well, though not as thickly as the spine area. It branches out in patches along the rest of her skin.

Her cheekbones are high and pronounced with a prominent jaw line and a sharp nose. Her eyes are large and wide, set beneath a sharp brow line, and contrast against her warm skin with a very pale seafoam blue-green.

Her hair is nearly floor length and jet black. In it's natural state it is very silky and free flowing, but she often ties portions of it up in knots or braids and is fond of lacing shiny trinkets into it.

Her clothing normally consists of robes, though they are often fur lined and designed to hold in heat.

Personality:
Opiale is a fiery spirit, barely tamed by her duties as a priestess. She is driven and determined, hates to fail, and even through all of her obstacles she has always gotten back up when thrown off her figurative horse. And yet, that fiery passion often gets the best of her. Try as she might to maintain the aloof nature of many older, more wizened priests, she has a temper that flares with enough provocation. She is prone to bottling up her feelings until she explodes with anger, like a ticking time bomb.

Beneath her priestess duties she is still young and passionate about life as well. Her need for answers and the never-ending quest she has been sent on barely outweigh her drive to live life and find new, exciting experiences - especially those that might show her a new path to closeness with the gods.

She can be reckless and impulsive, too stubborn to admit when she's wrong, but willing to grudgingly make amends for the mistakes she makes and learn from them in the future.

History:
Opiale was born on the planet known as Vroje, a vastly different world in an entirely alternate dimension. On the planet of Vroje there are two main races that are constantly at war for the domination of their planet - the Helatom, a human-like race, and the Dwepior, a reptilian humanoid race. Each race maintains certain portions of the planet - countries, or continents even. It is only along the borders of these zones that the two races ever come face-to-face, either in love or war.

War is a socially acceptable practice. It is natural for the two races to hate and kill one another. Love, however, is an entirely different story. Love between a Helatom and Dwepior may rarely result in a hybrid child, known as an impure. These children are accepted no where, not among the Helatom or Dwepior, not even among their own families. Except for the few parents that choose to flee and try to make it on their own (they are often hunted down, for no true neutral territories exist), few parents think it safe to keep an impure. They are often killed at birth but rarely, instead, may be sent to one of the only places on the planet where war is strictly prohibited - a temple.

Opiale grew up in the Camiale mountain temple. She never knew her parents, only the priests and priestesses that taught her in the way of the gods. The Camiale temple was set among the highest peaks of the mountain range where the clearest view of the skies could be found. Though many gods are respected and worshiped by the Camiale priests, it is the god of the cosmos to which they are devoted. Priesthood at Camiale, as well as many other temples on Vroje, involved trances and hallucinogens. They went to all ends to seek out visions of their god with no two priests necessarily choosing the same path or sticking to one their entire life. The ultimate goal was closeness, or oneness, with their star god.

Opiale was as enthusiastic as any other homeless, penniless orphan would be when given a chance in a world that rejected them. She devoted her life to being a priestess and became even more determined to prove her worth every time she failed.

And then the stars vanished.

The entire temple went into an uproar, prophecies of destruction and apocalypse were scrawled on paper and stone and sent to every corner of the world. They waited with bated breath for the world to turn itself inside out but.. days, weeks, months passed and nothing happened. Eventually the war began again and though the temple of Camiale was suddenly patronless, still they continued their duties.

At the insistence of the head priest, Opiale and other young priests were sent out on pilgrimages. They were given amulets of protection, meant to dissuade citizens from doing them harm. Some listened, some did not, and though Opiale bore her share of violence hatred she continued onward.

Until a fateful day when the stars reappeared without warning and the young impure was suddenly thrust from her world into another one entirely..
