I have a grand idea for an RP. Perhaps too grand of a scale, so I want some outside views on it.
Its fantasy-based, taking place in a world filling with demons, and monsters. Demon hunters are employed to keep these demons in check.
I had things thought out to where there were 3 basic 'classes' I guess you could call them. Humans, Demons, and Mythos(Which were other non-demon, legendary creatures. Elves, dwarves, Fae....)
and then occupations with the classes.....Humans were demon hunters, mercs, renegades, theives.....you get the idea. Demons, it depended upon what kind of demon. Vampire, lycan, suc/incubus... and the mythos, was much like demons depending on what they were, obviously...
And I was even creating the world for this to take place in. Several kingdoms, and boundaries exist perfectly within my head, and treaties, wars, alliances...
Did I make this too big? races, classes for races, abilities linked to classes Does it make it too difficult and too broad to get into? Any suggestions from my Guildmates would be greatly appreciated. I want to create this RP, but I think that I need to refine things, before I'd want to start it.

I can usually deal with complexity as long as something doesn't seem complex at first. If you post a ton of information, it'll seem too daunting, but if you gradually introduce new elements (or tell people things as they need them to come up with backgrounds for characters) then that's not so problematic. I would post the information about the classes since it's necessary for coming up with characters, and then post a minimal amount of information about the world but keep everything you've come up with in mind in case it comes up.
On the other hand, if you don't give people enough information about the world, they might have a hard time creating characters that fit into it. You could make that easier by putting up really specific guidelines for character profiles and then talking with people on an individual basis if they need help making their character's background conform to your world (flexibility also helps a lot. Perhaps let people fill in the world more when they create their characters, as long as it fits with what you've got?)
Also, if you haven't thought of something along these lines already, it would also probably help to have a specific plot line (within the larger world) ready instead of just presenting a world and having characters meet each other and hopefully make things happen.
All that said--purely fantasy RPs without any sci-fi/modern aspects to them also tend to be off-putting to me (same for purely sci-fi without fantasy or modern aspects to it, usually ^^; ). Though if you'd posted it I'd read through the intro posts and at least try to create a character for it.

well, I'd like a better mental picture of what direction the world is taking. is it dark, are demons wreaking havoc, etc? it's an interesting Idea, but I'd really like to see how you would picture the plot developing.

Well, it would be somewhat dark, obviously. Demons rampage and slaughter.... And I did have an idea for an overarching storyline.
Lucas, a fun little character of mine, would play the role of an omnipotent guide. He would appear, seemingly randomly giving guidance and advice to demons and humans alike, but never ((Well...almost never XD )) directly interfering. He would tell them the paths they can take, and what they 'should' take, but he couldn't MAKE them do anything. He would be trying to guide characters all towards a specific goal. As for the goal, I have a few in my head. And as some of my old RP mates can attest I love to throw wrenches into the works, to cause little twists. I don't have, or like to for that matter, too deep of a story written up. It allows more freedom of players. I do have kingdoms that are either-Strictly human/demon/mythos, and a few kingdoms that are mixtures of the races, though it is rare. And even rarer where all 3 can coexist peacefully.

My Roleplay, though I guess... abandoned again. ><
Was pretty huge in scale. From what I've seen, as long as people keep track of location, it's not much of a problem.
