ζocation Entrance of the Nightmare Void

Falling in the black, slipping through the cracks.
Falling in the depths, can I ever go back?

It had been only a week since she and the other three girls had escaped the wasteland of a prison. Yet all seemed perfectly normal after a few hours or recovery in the medical facility of Squad Four. She had simply fallen asleep on a cot, listening to some peaceful music, before she felt herself being subconsciously, forcefully shoved down through thin air, into a new set of casual clothes, and into nothing but the pitch black of some twisted dimension.

She found herself floating into nothingness, an inky black void of dark slumber. Copper orange hair floated around her face in long tangles, innocent gray eye kept closed as she floated into her own nightmare. She was conscious, but refused to open her perspective to the horror that would soon become her reality.

Under her back, she felt the gentle smack of her body against a hard-tile floor, newly polished and glimmering like the night sky. She reached a single fist up to rub an eye, finally opening her gaze up to discover the arena of her dream world. All around, there were hundreds of pitch black columns, morphing upwards to form the concave ceiling above her head. In-between the arches, floating little flames illuminated just the barest amount of light. Without a sound, the shinigami Captain of Alternate Squad Zero was getting up onto one knee, ten pushing herself up with tired, weary eyes, as she huffed a sigh, finally realizing the world around was nothing more than an illusion. At least, it was, but it felt real all the same.

“Good lord...” she mumbled. “I really should've gotten more sleep- ...Wait. Where am I?” A perplexed expression held her face in place, scratching the back of her head as she tried to figure out what to make of such a place. She opened her mouth once more to process another thought. But out of the blue, several box-like figures began to emerge in the inky black darkness under the floating flames. She wandered closer and closer to just one of them, making out a wooden shape with two elongated sides and another four flat, curving surfaces...

It was a coffin. Coffins were emerging all around her. And as she finally reached the one in front of her, something started to ooze out from under it, dripping down the lid until it formed a shape...the shape of an ugly red blood splatter. She didn't know whose it was, or who was inside. But she recoiled, just as the coffin lids began to drop all around the void, exposing the figures inside for who they were.

{{ If you have a character in TwiDawnLight's guild— Bleach: The End —that was active BEFORE the six-year time skip, then you can take part in Hisana's nightmare. It's like a small zombie apocalypse with the people she holds dear. XD }}

One of the lids slid off slowly, peeling away the veil of darkness that concealed the figure within. There was black hair, and a pair of bright yellow hollow eyes. A deep, deathly chuckle echoed from within the confines of the box. Pale, ghostly white fingers clutched at the sides of the box as the figure pried himself free. He turned over to look at Hisana, and it was evident his face had been disfigured. His piercing eyes stared at Hisana with a murderous intent, and his mouth had been torn and pulled up into a smile, blood seething through his exposed teeth. His black hair covered his face, separated into surprisingly neat locks that swayed to and fro with the breeze.

He was wearing white Espada robes that looked similar to the Shinigami uniform, and a torn, moldy scarf that hung limply from around his neck. He reached his fingers down to the hilt of his zanpakuto, ready to slowly draw it.
"Disrupting me from my sleep... For this injustice, you shall suffer..." He stretched out his mouth to unimaginable proportions, his jaw seeming to unhinge like that of a snake's as black petals rushed around him, dead, dilapidated and dry. Imprinted in the center of the man's chest was the Hogyoku.

It would occur to Hisana that this was the Cero Espada, Byakuya Kuchiki.

Falling in the black, slipping through the cracks.
Falling in the depths, can I ever go back?

Time seemed to slow down as the coffin lids fell, and the figures of deathly corpses became visible from the shadows inside. They were barely decayed, bloody, and above all TERRIFYING. Some of them were bodies she recognized, of her best friends and closest allies. Even though they might've been still, unmoving, she could make out several of the immobile faces. Ruka, Yuka, Rei, Kanashimi, Baraku, a Hollowfied Ichigo, even Rukia above all. She could've sworn there were two, maybe three people missing, and that a few coffins were totally empty. That was, until...

"-Disrupting me from my sleep..." Hisana's eyes widened as she whirled around, making out a terribly gruesome, decayed jaw, torn and ripped apart at the corners all the way to the jawline. She stared, speechless. Was this even real? It seemed so, seeing how the petals floated around unwelcomingly into the air. They wreaked of death, blood, even vengeance. She didn't move, didn't flinch, only stared at the walking dead of a man she once knew to have saved her from entering death's cold, passive embrace.

She snapped out of the momentary trance, fingers flying behind her head as to feel for the hilt of a zanpakuto. Yet, there was nothing there. She panicked, snapping her head one direction to the other, as few bodies started to move in response to the term 'suffer.' Her fingers flew up in defense, as to cast a Kido. Though all remained motionless, having cut off her powers entirely. With no other option, she started backing up to one empty section of the floating dome, almost stumbling backwards off the edge and into oblivion.

With fear welling up inside her heart, she screamed. "What the hell is going on?!"

{{ Thanks a lot Raine. I'm gonna have nightmares tonight because of you. T~T }}

((Continuation of Second Post))

She shook her head then as she stepped out of the office...not only did she refuse to entertain that thought as an option; something was certainly wrong. For the first time she realized she wasn’t in the normal soul society. This new darker world seemed somehow a nice reflection of her soul. The geography was certainly wrong, and yet it was so real she had a hard time thinking it could just be a nightmare.

In the distance she could see coffin’s that seemed to have erupted from the ground around them. At there center the figure that had stirred so much controversy in recent times, and then the burning building not far from that was familiar to Yukumi but she couldn’t place it. Out of the corner of her eye she recognized her family’s store, yet she wasn’t quite willing to make that trip yet.

Even if it was subconsciously, she was choosing the nightmares of others to avoid her own.

“Hisana?” She was fairly certain it was the girl’s name...though she wasn’t actually looking at the orange haired woman, her attention had been stolen by the dead face of her captain. Surprisingly, despite the cruel missive she was still holding between her fingers, she managed to keep her face straight.

A reach down to her belt made her flinch as she grapsed her Zanpkaktou but was unable to draw it. That was when she also noticed her lack of uniform, replaced by the kimono that she normally wore when she went to visit her home. Of course she wouldn’t have either of those things any longer, the blade at her side was just a showpiece, a memento. She was no longer a soul reaper after all. Still, she lingered on the edge of the row of coffins and zombie like monsters, it was prefered to the terror she felt at the shop ever lingering in the corner of her eye.

I know I'm not forgiven, but I hope that I'll be given some peace.

ζocation Her Own Nightmare

Falling in the black, slipping through the cracks.
Falling in the depths, can I ever go back?

Through the chaos of the surrounding corpses, Hisana put two hands to her head, gripping through her hair in miserable angst as to soothe a pain that just wouldn't disappear. She hated the feeling, more than so what was coming for her.

There were voices at the edge of her mind. She could hear the crackling of a blazing fire, the screams of a weak, sickly pained girl that she may have known. Once her voice was brutally cut off by the falling of floorboards and ceiling, an unmentionably recognizable voice shrieked out her name, nearly sobbing as he was untouched by the flames. Only one other place had she heard that voice scream so wretchedly.

Within moments, Byakuya coughed up a puddle of blood before sinking to his knees. "You-" he choked again... "YOU ARE NOT HISANA!!!!" He roared as he breathed his last choke of breath, and fell to the ground... limp...

Byakuya screamed, his lungs roaring a kind of voice that had not ever been heard by any others... He had emerged from his dream sequence, yet he still had a hole directly in the center of his chest, where he had been stabbed. "Hisana...." he coughed as he looked down to his own chest, his eyes trembling with shock, and for once, fear.

Even by that tone, she knew that her uncle was in the nightmare worlds as well. "Hisana?" The new figure brought her out of her pained trance, as she barely looked up through the cascade of decayed petals at the newcomer. Where had she seen this one before? Wait... Oh, that's right. The third seat of Squad Six.

Squad Six.
The same squad her uncle was in.
And he was standing right in front of them.

Hisana took in a big gulp and shouted across the floor to Yukumi. "Shizuka-san, this isn't a good time. I know that looks like your Captain, but it's not. He-" She glanced back to the sickly gruesome figure. "-'s not. He's the Cero Espada in another realm. Just... RUN!!! Get the hell out of here, and don't come back!!!"

The word Captain got her eyes to tighten, still, she gave a superior sniff as if she’d been insulted. Perhaps pride ran deeper in Squadron Six than some people realized. “Whatever this unworthy creature is, the similarity is fleeting. I am aware it is not Captain Kuchiki. Get up Hisana, over here...at least I have a weapon...you should let me stand and run.”

Not that her weapon was of particular use, though a club was better than nothing at all, even if her position was stolen from her she wasn’t about to back down. She had the sword, hilt and all as it was one showpiece that couldn’t be separated. It wasn’t her duty any longer, but indifference in good men was a flaw.

“But is it good, when it’s just a way to seek your own death?” The rasp of the voice cut into her as she widened her gaze at the creature who was still just looking at Hisana. The tone was haunting and light and yet cut into her mind to have it’s say quite clearly, using Byakuya‘s voice even if it‘s face was a grim reflection of reality. “If you die defending someone you don’t have to deal with your problems. What a noble farce you are, a yellow faced girl cowering behind a mask of indifference. I imagine you know well what it is to be unworthy judging from that letter in your hand.”

Though as Hisana heard nothing, and as his mouth didn’t even move, perhaps it was all a fragment of Yukumi’s mind. Who better to remind her of a lack of duty than the Captain she had sought so long to embody? Nonetheless the growing expression of fear hinted that something was happening to the young woman.

Yukumi was frozen then, standing awkwardly with her makeshift club as she faced the creature that seemed as if it could read her mind even if it wasn’t actually paying her much mind. Not quite willing to back down, but the wet sickly laughter that echoed in her head was the only warning any were given before she was tossed away by what seemed like nothing more than a furious wind.
