"People who draw from references have amazing good eyeballing skills". And I dislike more dots than 3. Actually, I think this is true. I don't mean beginners that have drawn for few months or weeks, more like those who haven't done anything expect drawn from pictures/real life. I didn't eyeball anything for the first years and it really shows in my work.
I'm not saying that "OMG IF yOU don't eyeball, you JUsT SUck!" Or the other way if you do, you would suck. I think doing both is a good solution, but whatever goes for you, goes for you.
"People only begin drawing well from their head after they carefully studied the form, shape, and structure of something from a reference." True. But some artists do only eyeballing and concentrate only to that, leaving out the studying.
Chill, I wasn't honestly thinking that the hands look bad or anything. Just wrote that sentence, in case you do mostly eyeballing, when I could have -suggested- you to study stuff like that. And if that wasn't the case, well, then it wasn't. "The fact that you practise hands shows and you're really good at it." "The errors aren't really that noticeable (if almost at all)."
"Everyone should draw what they want, the way they want to draw, that's the utopian idea for artists." Bullshit. ('scuse the language) Maybe if you want to become professional or sell your art, but who told you to become one? I do art, because I enjoy it. I'd rather spent my days cleaning up for 8 hours and drawing the rest, than ruin my enjoyment of art for money. And mind you, I wasn't talking about the basics. Are you writing my sentences wrongly in purpose? Note that I am still not angry, pissed, thinking that I'm higher than others, otherwise feeling negative feelings or thinking that you are a bad artist if you do.
Yes, I am not as good artist as you are, but I've gone through taking crits and bashing - people telling me that I have to start from basics, anime is not good, anime is not bad, more cute, more refined, more anatomy, balanced, emotions, better lines, I have no talent for art, etc. Just like you have. Hopefully you have. I know my art isn't good yet, I have few hundreds of bones to learn, more stuff in other areas such as coloring and this will take tens of years to learn, hopefully a little less (but not too much less, since learning = fun).
On a sidenote: I'm sorry if I sound like a superego b***h, but in this rare, rare occasion I'll tell you I'm not (atleast superegoish, maybe just a plain b***h). I really do care if I hurt someone with my crits, because I usually take time to do them and try to think about what's best for the artist. I admit, this time I didn't think so much, since it was a middle of the night and I usually try to keep it quiet and just lurk around in places. Sometimes a simple crit might take half hour to two hours. I look at the picture, I think what's good in it, what's bad in it, how the artist does the picture, what s/he's trying to achieve, what could be done differently and if it look any better that way and what is the thing that would help the artist most. Then I write it, read what the artist says, think what it means, what's s/he's trying to achieve with it and write back that I think s/hes right or wrong. I do feel quilty if I make someone feel bad, and a little frustrated. Because it's not what I'm trying to achieve. And in this case, I'm a little frustrated since I feel like you're trying to paint me as superegoish b***h, but not only that you seem very aggressive and hostile. Not that you're bad person for doing this, but maybe you misunderstood me and what I was trying?

Wow... I love love loved everything. You should post more of your work. I enjoyed it. whee
The only thing that stuck out to me was the second image, of that hawt guy that looks like my boyfriend... mmm yes... I mean. *kaff* His man-tits look a bit too high up, but other than that I saw no other real anatomy issues or flaws... heart
Keep up the work. 3nodding

I like that thing you did that didn't remind me of everything. I especially like your sketches. GJ and all that.

Synister Your work consists of mostly rouch sketches, and I will not praise or critic upon that since it's not really fair to judge someone upon their unfinished works. Being an art student, critics are like food, you can't live without it. The more contructive the critic, the more nutrients one obsorb. But, only when one choose to obsorb. Things such as "Crits for a pic I'm not gonna change," is a waste of time for the critics, as well as an offensive way to say "picture dump. ... Yeah, maybe i'm being unrespective to others for only drawing sketches while they work so hard making finished and take drawing so seriously. I've wondered often if it seems like that way to them. Synister Misunderstanding is definitely there, but I won't hold you up to it since english is not your first language. Thank you, I appreciate that. Synister Don't give yourself too much credit, you have merely annoyed me more than anger or frustrate me with your so-called "crit". It seems that you have somewhat of a self-concious mind of what kind of persona you are conveying. What you THINK is right, might not always be right. A real helpful crit is based on no emotional bias but pure research/knowledge. If you lack the knowledge of a subject, then whatever you're arguing upon such subject would just be trivial. I guess I have thought that trying is what really means. But, uhm, maybe you do make sense, crits aren't a thing to learn, they come from what you have learned.
