Name: Carson Rose McCarthy
xxxxEldritch Emissary in Waiting Sex: Female
Species: Human?...
we think...Age: 19
Appearance: A young lady of average height, Carson is flat as a board and skinny to boot, possessing a dream "model" body type while lacking any muscle definition beyond being able to see the curve of her ribs when she reaches her arms over her head. She tends to dress like the hipster she looks like, and wears her obscenely red hair cropped short to go with it.
Personality: Make no bones about it, Carson McCarthy is a frickin' genius.
…Or so she will tell you, loudly and often. And to some extent, it is even true! Carson is intelligent. Books are her best friend forever and she will never let them go, or be seen without one. (She is also fond of her laptop, which was a sweet sixteen gift that she never lets any other person touch, ever.) She does not hesitate to tell people when they are wrong, which can be really hard on her relationships. She also does not hesitate to explain at top decibel volume why exactly they are wrong and where she got this information and how old it is. She has this information because she is obsessively organized and detail-oriented, and also obsessive--there is no piece of information she knows that hasn't been written down somewhere, even if this is on a napkin that she has carefully filed away in a page protector in a binder entitled "Facts About Mongooses, Ed. I".
She is also extremely arrogant, a personality trait which has won her few friends and made her a lot more enemies. No teacher particularly likes being called out in front of their class for a simple mistake; nor do they appreciate it when Carson interrupts other students' presentations to fact-check them. It is a matter of pride for her to look up as much information as she can about everyone else's everything, and she does not dedicate her time to much else. Information is her passion, and she indulges frequently. She is exceedingly rough around the edges and extremely attached to her position as the smartest of her class; she especially likes learning forbidden things and lording it over other people.
For all her pursuit of knowledge, she considers emotions the symptoms of weaker beings, and often doesn't know how to handle her own reactions to things; she can often be calm and level for hours and then suddenly break down into tears or fly into a rage. These reactions are only worsened for her confusion about why, exactly, she is sobbing or shouting, and she doesn't know how to cycle down. She doesn't use her words to discuss emotions and gets cagey and irate when asked to state flat-out how she feels about things or people. She assumes people can tell that she likes them if she spends time with them, and will absolutely never be the first person to confess love, even if she would be the first to ask someone out. She does not do relationships of any kind very well.
Because Carson is so dedicated to assembling a lot of knowledge very quickly, she assumes she knows best at all times. This means she thinks a lot of rules are quote-unquote bullshit, including laws like "don't drink before you're 21". She possesses six different IDs all claiming different ages for different purposes; some of them are good and will pass close inspection. Others are not, and will not. She knows which are which.
Carson is particularly fascinated by astronomy, and can wax rhapsodic on the black spaces between the stars. She remembers Gehenna with a strangely fond eye and is writing a paper on why it happened, what caused it, and how a repeat of it can be prevented.
History: The firstborn and only child of Samuel and Jane McCarthy, Carson grew up with the full weight of Samuel's expectations on her shoulders. Her mother died when she was young; Carson doesn't remember her and doesn't much miss her, although she's fairly sure she's probably suffered for lacking a strong female role model in her early years. Still, having a dad who didn't take Bs for actual grades benefited her a lot; she might not have had a lot of friends, but she was goddamn smart, and she won scholarships like some kids won sports trophies. At twelve she transferred to a highly selective STEM school, leaving behind most of the people she did call friends, and who were much more interested in the arts. There, she acquired the nickname "Teach," which was probably the first nickname to ever actually hurt her feelings.
