I've noticed that most of the roleplays here are based on heavy fiction or fantasy, even. So, would you guys like it if we opened up threads for realistic animal roleplays? Like ones involving what animals actually do, with perhaps little to no "talking" and maybe a goal or challenge or something that would provide a challenge to them. The "advanced" types with roll-of-the-dice chances and believable animal behaviors (so yes, there would have to be some research involved, but only to get the characters/actions/area/etc. down).


I was thinking of maybe an African Savannah roleplay, an Alaskan Wilderness roleplay, and maybe a Big City roleplay. There could be more added afterwards, as it's just some basic ideas.

African Savannah would have the typical lions, hyenas, painted dogs, and prey animals to play, as well as other animals that dwell on the savannah such as leopards, crocodiles, elephants and the like. The challenge would probably be things like the dry season, wet season, habitat destruction and/or poaching, and just surviving.

Alaskan Wilderness would feature animals from polar bears and grizzlies to wolves and wolverines. Other animals, more centered around the shores, such as walruses and seals could also be played, probably in an "Offshore" post just for them, where those elsewhere could come into if they wished. Challenges would include the melting of the ice, human hunters, the seasons.

Big City would likely have animals that have to adapt to living around large cities such as raccoons, rodents, small predators, birds, and probably (in a separate post, likely) domestic animals turned feral. It would focus on the survival of those that have to sneak around and live in peoples' backyards or in the dirty underbellies of the cities. Challenges would include animal/pest control, the basic needs (food, water, shelter), keeping out of sight of most humans, and the dangers of living near a large city (being run over, stepped on, general human cruelty).


Just some concepts. Won't be fleshed out for a while, probably not until the guild gets moving some.
