Malachite nodded. "It's really cool!" he said, getting up close to one of the walls to stare a fish in the eye. He then turned and headed back to the bed, hopping onto it beside his bag as he listened to Infi explain all the necessities.
He looked surprised when she mentioned changing the sheets in the morning. "Wow," he repeated. "We don't change our sheets that often..." He didn't say exactly how long, for fear of embarrasing himself and his family.
He giggled a bit at the thought of glowing fish, intent on seeing them for himself.
Mal winced when he heard the thud downstairs. He nodded at Infi's warning, knowing well enough not to try jumping from any great heights.
Once she left, he stretched out on the bed, letting his feet dangle over the edge. He was quite tired, but still needed to unpack and explore things. And maybe check to see if Naira was okay.
~*~
"A'ight, no mushrooms for the stripey boi," Kaleb said with a shrug. He turned and headed off to the kitchen to help get the ingredients ready to make the pizzas.
There was a clamor of noise in the entrance hall as creatures began streaming down the stairs and into the kitchen. Adrian could only assume Hana had announced that dinner was starting.
"So, any more questions, or wait until after dinner?" Adrian asked, just to be sure.

Infi smiled at Malachite as he came downstairs. "There's still a little daylight left if you'd like to go exploring." she said with a little laugh. Naira was curled up in her lap, head on her mother's shoulder.
"Don' wanna show him around." the angel said petulantly.
"Alright hun. Laertes? Would you mind feeding the ponies and then showing Malchite around if he wants to go out?"
"Sure." Laertes gave a thin smile and he motioned for Malachite to follow him.
=====
"No more questions for right now." Crout said finally. "I think.... I have a bit to think on." his nod was satisfied. Answers at last.
But, if they found it pleasurable... "Why do the girls in pornos scream if it's supposed to feel good?"

Malachite had wandered his way back downstairs after unloading his bag of overnight things. He nodded as Infi spoke to him. "Sure, that would be fun," he said. A small part of him noticed that he was doing his best to let her and the others make the decisions for him. But that part was small enough to stay off in his subconscious.
"Are you okay?" he asked Naira, wondering if he should've brought some of his healing stones with him.
Mal hid his disappointment well when the "task" of showing him around was delegated to Laertes. Sure, he liked the boy, but he figured the sentiment wasn't returned.
----
Adrian blinked at the last question, and then looked thoughtful.
"Crout, there's a difference between actual sex and pornography," he finally said. "Kind of like how things in TV shows and movies don't match up to things in real life, porno is the same way. The actors ham it up and make things more melodramatic than they really are in the real world.
"Aaaand some people, while they're having sex, scream because it feels really, really good," he finished. "It sounds weird, but it's true."
He rose from the couch and offered his hand out to Crout, smiling. "We'd better head into the kitchen before everyone takes all the good toppings."

(Sorry, I'd figured he'd come downstirs already. Oops. *licks AV*)
"I have a headache." Naira said, nuzzling back into Infi's shoulder. "Bumped my head and it hurts." Infi rolled her eyes.
"Then you shouldn't have let Nakshidil goad you into jumping off the stairs. If your wings didn't grow when you jumped off the roof, why would you think they'd groe if you jumped off the stairs, hmm?"
A wet raspberry was Infi's response from Naira, and she rolled her eyes again, standing up and moving for the stairs. "I'll put her down, with some tylenol, then I've got to head into town for some things." More booze because these kids of hers were going to kill her.
Laertes smiled and nodded to Mal. "Come on, I'll show you around. I bet you'll ADORE the ponies."
======
Crout nodded thoughtfully. Alright. That kinda made sense. But why you'd want to ham up sex, he had no idea. He took Adrian's hand absently, and let the older man lead him into the kitchen, lost in thought.

(( *grins* S'okay, I can work around such things. *licks back* ))
"Aww," Malachite cooed, fingers automatically going to Naira's hair. He displaced it gently before pulling away. "At least your head-wings are okay, right?"
He looked up and moved away from the couch to join Laertes. "The tiny ones?" he asked. "Yeah, they're pretty cool."
~*~
Adrian tugged the preteen along behind him, nudging critters away with his foot. It just wouldn't do to have their guest trip over the Jivvins and end up hurting himself or anyone else.
The scene in the kitchen was borderline chaotic, though Kaleb and Hana were doing their best to take command, all the while casting glares at each other. Ingredients had been unloaded from the fridge, and dough was being mixed and tossed in the air. Adrian cringed at the sight of so much flour and dough stuck to cupboards, the overhead pan rack, and the ceiling fan.
"Oi, you're all cooking like a bunch of animals!" he complained, raising his voice to be heard above the din.
Though everyone in the room stopped to look at him, the statement didn't have too great an effect; most of them were animals, afterall...
"What kind of impression are you trying to leave on our guest?" Adrian continued, tugging Crout forward.
"An unpainful one?" Hana suggested with a raised eyebrow.
Adrian snatched a knife out of Maki-the-Elf's hand and glared at him. "No knives," he growled. "Leave the vegetable chopping to the big kids."
Maki pouted, and then turned back to tossing dough around the kitchen.
Kaleb passed over a ball of dough to Crout. "Here, kid, take a toss at this. If you mess it up, don't worry, you're the only one who'll have to eat it."

Laertes smiled down at the preteen next to him. "Yeah, the little ones. They had a whole bunch of babies rather recently." he said with a little laugh. "Actually, our herd grew from 7-18 with this recent mating season." his eyes rolled back in his head and he shuddered. "Spare us any more babies, you know?" He really didn't have anything against Malachite, he hardly knew the kid after all. "So, you ready to go? I know Infi's been kind of shoving you around, but she really wants you to enjoy yourself. One of the first things we were all reminded to tell her is when we want privacy, or to relax. Not everyone can keep up with a job, 6 kids, and over 100+ pets, with about 15 breeds of politics." Laertes' smile was gentle as he said, "Just tell her if you start to feel overwhelmed. If you like it here, I'm sure you could come back anytime, don't let her rush you through the weekend." With that, he led the way to the backyard, towards a small fenced-in flowerpatch. "The ponies are really tiny, they don't grow any larger than 8 inches, actually." he said, and smiled. "We keep them in the flowerpatch because that's really close to their native habitat. Some woman found them in her vegetables, and her flowers, and it was insane. So Infi took a few, and.... they multiplied. We even had a demon pony show up." he knelt down, whistling, and a little pony trotted up, nickering. "This one little here is Sundari." Laertes said with a smile. "You may remember her parents, Shahar and Siobhan? I heard Crout left them in the shop once and you took care of them." he held Sundari out to Malachite and the tiny filly snorted, sniffing at Malachite before whinnying ans looking at the preteen expectantly. "Interested? She seems to like you." ============ Crout eyed the dough Kaleb tossed at him, but caught it. "So, what, I just toss it in the air?" he asked, watching the others do it. He'd never made pizza before, they'd always ordered in. So he gingerly tossed the ball in the air, hoping it wouldn't stick to the ceiling. When the dough looked to be appropriately round, he looked around helplessly, holding it. "What do I do now?"

"Oh, wow," Malachite said, eyes widening. He imagined eighteen tiny ponies prancing around a miniature corral and smiled.
"Ah! Yeah, I'm ready," he nodded, following along behind the teenager. "It's okay, really. I know she's doing her best. It's only been a little bit overwhelming, so far, but I can adjust."
The flowerpatch wasn't unlike the corral Mal had pictured earlier. He knelt beside Laertes and leaned over the fence so that the ends of his hair hung just inside.
"Oh, yeah, of course I remember them," he replied with a lop-sided grin. "Wow, she's pretty." He tentatively reached out with a finger to stroke between her ears. He noticed the tiny, wiry little wings at her back. "Interested?" he repeated. "In what?"
~~~
Adrian hid his smirk as Crout tried his hand at tossing the pizza dough. He grabbed his own handful of dough and tossed it in the air, using the knuckles of his fists to spread it out. "You could make that a little thinner, if you wanted to," he said as he demonstrated. "But if that's how thick you want your crust, go ahead and put whatever toppings you want on it."
"That's if everyone doesn't go ahead and eat them, first," Kaleb said, smacking Maki's hand as it dug around in the bowl of green pepper pieces.
Quote: Laertes gave Malachite a genuine smile. "In taking her home, of course. She'll be growing soon, and I figure... you might like a companion? I know you have a good family, but sometimes everyone wants a pet that will just love you, and will listen." Sundari sneezed, knocking herself onto her rump and giving a mournful whinny. Laertes handed Malachite some small carrot pieces and smiled. "They eat just about anything they can get their mouths around. Grass, finely chopped vegetables, all sorts of things. Sundari's sister Shakina, unfortunately, seems to have a taste for small bugs." Laertes' mouth twisted into a wry grin. "We have to almost force-feed her nutrients. The teen finally whistled again, and a whole herd of tiny ponies rushed over to the two, nickering and whinnying, and Laertes sprinked some carrots down for them. Laertes paused for a second, counting under his breath. "INFI!" he finally yelled. "We got another one!" There was a chuffed laugh from one of the dewis, who was watching them with avid curiosity, and then Laertes turned back to Malachite. "Anways, feel free to adopt her if you want. She's easy to take care of, andwhen she's bigger, she'll probably have wings, like her mom, and her horn will be long enough that she can easily defend herself." the teen nodded. "So, did you want to go relax for the rest of the night, or take a look around?" ===================== Crout eyed the crust and debated. "No, I think this will be good." he said finally, and spooned some tomato sauce onto the crust before adding on cheese, and black olives, carefully avoiding the mushrooms. Pineapple and dried tomatoes, as well as some garlic and sausage topped off his pizza, and he wrinked his nose, eyeing the little fish on the counter. "Sardines?" he asked, and pondered. He'd heard they weren't that bad, buut... they looked really, really gross.
"Oh." Malachite blinked, startled by the offer. "That's very generous of you, but I wouldn't want to take any of them away from the people who care for them, not to mention their families."
He snorted, suppressing a giggle as Sundari fell backwards. He held out a bit of carrot to her and gasped as the rest of the herd decended upon him. He kept them busy with carrots in his other hand, trying to give Sundari some room and some carrots.
"She's going to be beautiful," Malachite said. He finished feeding her and stroked a finger down her mane before standing up again. He grined. "If the look around will be relaxing, I wouldn't mind."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rayen snuck up to the counter and picked out a couple of tiny fishes for himself, popping one into his mouth as he crawled out of the way. Hana made a face at him, but answered Crout's question. "Those are anchovies, actually. If you don't like 'em, don't take 'em."
"She really likes them," Adrian confided in Crout, "but help yourself. We've got plenty."
"The first batch of pizzas are goin' in," Kaleb announced as he opened the large oven. The little ones stood back away from the heat as they watched their creations slide inside.
