I haven't seen or thought of The Craft in years until I ran across this rather hilarious online review done by the Nostalgia Chick. (All her reviews are hilarious and I highly recommend them)
The movie is about a bunch of teens with witch powers...it's very odd, but not entirely horrible. The Chick makes a good point about the audience that The Craft attracts. "Rare is the teenage girl who becomes intersted in witchcraft for spirituality. No--they want power."
This, I think, is true in many cases. Not completely true--don't get offended, teenagers, but generally speaking teenagers aren't the greatest ambassadors from paganism to the rest of the world. There are of course exceptions to this rule. But back when I was a teenager, I sure as hell knew why I read every occult book I got my hands on. Goddeses and rituals were cool, but what I was really after was spells. Spells for love, spells for money, spells for luck...I wanted power, dammit.
(I was a fifteen-year-old rebellious loner who read a lot of speculative fiction. I got better, though I still read a lot of speculative fiction. XD)
Anyway, check out the review if you, like me, have semi-fond nostalgic memories of this movie. Any thoughts would be awesome.

BONUS LINK: The Nostalgia Critic's review of Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows, an extremely bad movie which contains possibly the worst Wiccan stereotype I have ever seen. The character is a self-proclaimed "earth-child," talks endlessly about the non-existent burning times, and is clearly an attention-seeking, conniving b***h. VERY funny review. http://blip.tv/nostalgiacritic/nostalgia-critic-blair-witch-2-book-of-shadows-5654959
Again, any thoughts would be cool. I find the portrayal of witches/witchcraft/wicca/paganism in mainstream media really fascinating.
