Even though it was fairly early, Ai founds herself being led by her owner to the training grounds. Even though she wasn’t injured, the man who she called master seemed to be having a busy time with the young child, leaving the three mokai he owned pretty much stuck in limbo. There was no fighting for her or Inali, and even young Kita, who recently was taken from the nursery to get her own stall, had yet to begin training. Ai would have to help her with that, if JB allowed her.

But in all actual facts, the female was happy just to be out. And, it was better that she wasn’t hanging around Inali either. Ever since their last battle, the female hadn’t quite ‘enjoyed’ the company the husky-colored male. She was sure he wouldn’t want to see her either. Shaking the thoughts from her head, she looked around at the training pits. Quiet today, just the way she liked it.

In Ai’s viewpoint, she loved when she trained and only the ‘commoner’ people were around. Because of their ranking, they likely didn’t own mokai that would have the pedigree built to be a great fighter. She didn’t care if they watched her training sessions. When it came to those she knew owned the good fighters, she didn’t do her best in training. Why reveal her secrets so they could be used against her in battle. She had lost one battle before, she was not going to lose another. As much as she loved fighting, she wanted to stay away from the illegal pits for longer. Two times was well enough for the striped mokai.

Her ears perked as they stopped at the gate, JB having been stopped by a friend. Ai knew this male well. It was her ‘sparring’ partner when no other mokai (usually cull) was around. Carlson, is what usually JB had called him, but Ai was sure she heard other…not so pleasant names that he was called. The female wagged her tail a bit, showing the fearful Carlson that there was nothing to be afraid of, before glancing at her owner with a ‘mokai-smile’.

“Oh good! You’re here!” JB sounded, shaking Carlson’s hand.

“At least you didn’t bring that other mokai of yours.” The skinny man did what he needed for money, but when it came to JB’s latest ‘project’ he put his foot down. He knew Ai well enough that she would stop when JB told her too. His new feral mokai, not so much. Though, things could have changed since the last training session the two of them danced in, Carlson still didn’t want to chance getting tossed around. The money (though terrible for many people) was something he needed.

“Ah, yes…well, I have Inali on a…different training type. I don’t think you will be needed for him anymore, though little Kita is about to start her training too. If I have a little time later today, I may bring her out her. Around sunset I think. If you are interested in earning a little more cash…You should stop buy.” There was JB’s attitude, trying to flaunt around his money to get what he wanted. What he wanted were tough, strong mokai. The lack of culls made it hard for him to get the training for his fighters, and the reputation some of his mokai had got made it so even a few people shied away. He just had to make sure it was worth Carlson’s while. Luckily for him, pretty much any price big or small was.

“I’ll let you know after I talk to the missus. What are we training Ai for today?” Carlson asked.

“Well…I’d like to get her offensive skills better, but I think we will focus on her speed again. Hope you ate a light breakfast.”

“Ugh, alright.” Carlson stepped into the pit, JB and the leashed Ai following. “Just, make sure she doesn’t take a chunk out of me when she catches me. Ok?”

“Ai would never…” JB chuckled.

Ai’s ears perked up at her name, and the laughter that emerged from her owner’s maw. She blinked, tilted her head, and watched as Carlson walk away. This game again? I wanted a challenge. she huffed, sitting by JB’s side even after he unleashed her. She had to wait for her cue before she even thought about moving. That is what a good, obedient mokai does.

“Alright Ai. You know the drill. Give him a little run around, before bringing him down.”

Though his mokai didn’t understand the human language, Ai knew what she was suppose to do. Pretty much it was just a game of tag, though; she had to let the human win for a little bit before she would actually take him down.

“Go get him.” Was all JB needed before the striped female sped off, leaving dust in her tracks.

The skinny blonde hair male ran as fast as he could, but not fast enough. He felt the female mokai nipping at his heels just a mere ten seconds before she had crashed into him. Usually he was better than this, maybe he should have skipped breakfast this morning.

“What are you doing Carlson! She can’t catch you that easily!” JB fumed, quickly leashing Ai again. “She needs a challenge!”

Ai looked back and forth between the two humans. She wasn’t going to hold back the slow speed that the skinny male was going just to help benefit him. Usually he was much faster.

“Well sorry! I figured you needed her to train something else.” Carlson countered, causing JB to narrow his eyes.

“Watch your mouth boy, or else you won’t be seeing a dime of that money I offered.”

“…” The silenced Carlson.

“Good. I’d say let’s go again, but after that spectacle it would be a waste of time. If you come back later to help Kita, be on your better game.”

“Yeah yeah.” The man shook it off, leaving the training pit.

“Sorry Ai, guess that is all the training you get today. Next time Carlson should be better prepared.” JB was pissed. More for the fact that he had just wasted his morning on a pretty much not so helpful training session. He hoped Kita’s would go better, and wasn’t too sure if he was up for training Inali later too.

He’d have to figure it out his time with the kid and his mokai.
