I know everyone has their own religion and such, but shouldn't it be okay for someone to practice their own religion in public as long as it doesn't interfere with anyone else's religions and it doesn't hurt anyone?

Hmmm....finally a debate in this empty debate thread.
But yeah I agree with practicing it in public. I don't really see how it can interfere with anyone else and their religion (not if you are going out and persecuting people) or hurt anyone. I mean yeah sometimes that stuff does happen. I just don't see why anyone would disagree with it, but then again I do because I used to be one of those people.
I think they disagree with it because they don't want to hear it. That was my reason at one time. I just didn't want to hear it. But then people (like my old self) that disagreed with it because people were practicing evangelism and would come up to me and talk about it. But it boiled down to I didn't want to hear it. Now it's different since I changed.

Many people think one religion is bad because of the fanatics, yet they seem to conveniently forget about the fanatics in their own religion.

Well I was saying more along the lines that people just don't want to hear it. Disagreeing with it is also another point too. I'm not too sure if people are worried about the fanatics of it. It's possible and I'm not ruling it out.

I think that's true. But when it comes to those people, is it really they want to argue about religion or are they just a person who wants to shut everyone down? It could be both. I personally support practicing your religion out in public. I happen to do it a few times a month when I go out and share with my disciple. We do run across those who disagree and don't want to hear it, but they don't argue or persecute us. Maybe it depends on where you live? I don't know.

Anyway, where you live deffinitely plays a part in how tolerant you are. No arguments there. If someone lives in a more rural community with less diversity then it seems that they're prone to think more in a certain way, have a certain religion, and be persecuted less for certain intolerances. If they live in the city where it usually is more diverse then those intolerances won't last very long or else they have to remain hidden because there are more people with different religious looks on life then yourself that would rally against such things.

Even though I know this is supposed to be a lengthy debate, I'm just going to give a simple answer: Yes, yes they should.

*jumps in discussion* I'm and open minded Christian... I find being open about my religion gets me a lot of weird looks... because I guess its not normal to be open minded and religious?

Huh eek ,....I know a lot of people that are open about their religion and yet open minded, yet I suppose I also know those who are open yet can be the most closed minded person.

Yeah, I mean, anything from race, religion, abortion, whatever. its hard for me to have a set opinion on topics most people tend to spaze out when brought up. Example: I'm a Christian so people tell me 'gay' is bad. Honestly, more of my friends are homosexual than straight. And so long as they are happy and cool with it, why shouldn't I be? I'm so not loving them less for it. I don't know, maybe its bad to be open minded, I am a pacifist so I can't find a reason to care xD

You know things like that? Anyway, I seem to be the person that can change their mind any time as long as the facts presented to me are both good and reasonable.
